Targeted bait does two things: increase the chance of a fish by 2.76 and changes the requirement for a fish to be hooked. For Legend II there's a flag that reduces the chance increase to 1.66, and the new requirements don't benefit fish that are always on top of the list as much as the others, so overall it's not as effective for legendary fish.
And that's on top of Legend II's low base chance of 10%. Glacierfish Jr. can go up to the 80's though.
The new machine at level 6 fishing: bait maker. Place 1 fish on the machine and will make a bait that will almost double the chance of getting that same fish.
yeah, legend you can only get 1. legend 2 is good since you can get several. but the base chance is 10%, so it goes to 17%. but if you put curiosity lure too it goes to 37%
in some more common fish this machine is even better. for example catfish in the rain, normally the chance is 31%, but if you only put the targeted bait the chance jumps to 99%.
Nice. That's pretty cool. I suspect my meadowlands farm will be animals and fishing driven, with a wine factory in the green house of course. Not a fan of crop tending/planting. Looking forward to the smoker.

Early game targeted bait on catfish is very powerful. Every rainy day on spring year 1 I was doing 20-30k
If nothing else they’re very effective for the two new fishing events.
No way … Legend II targeted bait only gives a 17.78% chance? Maybe I’m using the calculator wrong
Wirh curiosity lure it goes to almost 40%
Would it be as easy to get iridium quality though? Like is it always better to use curiousity lure instead of cork bobber and quality bobber?

So with the smoker, is it more effective to fish for glacierfish jr instead of legend ii while the quest is active?
I don't think so. Glacierfish Jr. sells for way less (and can be harder to catch too!)
