I mainly sell comedic amounts of starfruit wine, pickled cauliflower, and pickled pumpkin. Lots of pigs with the iridium foraging perk is another great source (outside of winter).

I_Should_not_have

What’s the iridium foraging perk and how do I get it?

Jzkqm

Foraging level 10 - if you picked Gatherer for level 5, you can pick Botanist which makes every foraged item you pick up iridium quality, including the truffles your pigs find you.

Yer_a_hazard_Harry

This! Plus that it is nice for your inventory to only have iridium gathered goods, takes much less space than stacks of different quality. Some iridium foraged goods make good cheap gifts.

TheyCallMeStone

Plus you don't need to worry about feeding the pigs in the winter since their heart levels don't matter. Those pigs can eat when they pull their weight around here.

Da_Bounty_Hunter

You monster. This is hilarious.

Doingtoomuchagain

No they call him stone 😂

ausyliam

![img](emote|t5_2wb7y|51696) those poor pigs

FinalLans

Pigs are the one animal worth selling last day of fall and then buying new ones to make a profit, since piglets consume less hay and don’t contribute anyway (probably more ideal to time your pig purchase so they are adult last day of Winter/first of Spring

jaurex

this is what i do, a fresh batch of piglets the 18th of Winter

FinalLans

Awesome, thanks for sharing the date!

BeholdingBestWaifu

And iridium forage is great for energy in the mines.

cache_ing

Especially in the volcano, those iridium magma caps are lifesavers

I_Should_not_have

Thank you! I get lazy to forage. Need to hit that 10 then.

Jzkqm

The jump from 9 to 10 is a long slog, but the level 10 perk is well worth the time. Just chop the hardwood stumps in the secret forest every day and you’ll get there eventually!

ausyliam

Wtf those stumps count as foraging?! This game has no end to learning

danleene

Cut trees, if they are cut cleanly off, that’s about 12 XP each.

Jzkqm

yup, and iirc they’re like 25exp a pop!

bmyst70

Remember foraging also goes up when you chop wood. That's where my Farmer gets most of their foraging points. There are many deceased trees who can lie their fate at the farmer's feet.

MrsTruce

Filling the quarry with trees is also very useful for leveling up quickly. Especially with tree fertilizer.

BlunderPunz

The quarry is much more useful for resources in 1.6! Better to fill the area by the railroad tracks with trees ![img](emote|t5_2wb7y|51481)

MrsTruce

Good to know. I’m still waiting for 1.6 on switch, so I’ll keep that in mind when the update drops!

WeegieBirb

I also plant trees in the desert

general_madness

I do my oak tapper farm there. No need for pathing, stays neat and tidy, easy quick stop to pick up on my way to the cavern, trader, or Sandy.

AchajkaTheOriginal

That thought never entered my mind... I will do it now, it's great way of utilizing that space, but the idea of pines in desert is sooo wrong.

Key_Spirit8168

I mean you could do that now, idk why he's saying it's useful in 1.6

general_madness

In 1.5 and before, it’s not that profitable to let the quarry respawn rocks and nodes. It makes much more sense to use it as a keg farm, crystallarium depot, or what have you. It sounds like they are saying that in 1.6, the quarry becomes more useful for resources than previous updates?

Adventurous-Dog420

Someone said you can plant trees in the desert too, but I haven't tried yet.

BlunderPunz

Ooooh I haven’t tried this yet, either. Excellent! Will help me during winter where I usually clear cut everything around town. Thank you!

Jcolebrand

Cindersap below the travel line has a lot of open dirt too for trees

bmyst70

Until that post, I had literally no idea any trees would grow in the desert.

iamdefinitelynotdave

Fill the train station area with trees

SweatyStick62

Robin loves to give 7 day wood gathering quests that I finish in one day.![img](emote|t5_2wb7y|51481)

DownrightDrewski

It's one of the level 10 perks, if you went with the wood option on level 5 you'll need to interact with the statue in the sewers to reset your skills and go down the other path. https://stardewvalley.fandom.com/wiki/Foraging

allonsy_badwolf

When you choose your profession when leveling the foraging perk. Level 5 choose “gatherer” then level 10 choose “botanist” and then all foraged items are always iridium quality.

KatDanger

You can change your profession to this by using the bear statue thing in the sewers.

Standard_Mushroom273

Forage is cool but I’d always rather have extra wood.

DownrightDrewski

That's the great thing about this game, both plays are valid - I tend to buy a lot of wood. Extra money helps with that.

Thoughtapotamus

I have honestly never even considered buying wood or ore. It's like my brain erased that possibility lol.

Corundrom

Why buy, when you can just take a single day and suddenly have enough wood for the next year or two

Standard_Mushroom273

Could not agree more. I love how flexible the game is.

BlueAnalystTherapist

I just plant a million seeds in a day in the marnie’s farm map. A  month later I harvest a few thousand woods. Rinse and repeat.

BENthe3rd

I go with both. Extra wood til level 10 foraging, which usually takes me a long time, then switch to iridium pickups at max

Standard_Mushroom273

That’s honestly the way to do it but I’m too lazy lol

general_cuteness

omg is your pfp you in the stardew valley style?

Standard_Mushroom273

It is! Here’s the link: https://jazzybee.itch.io/sdvcharactercreator

general_cuteness

my favorite character creator so far!!! thank you!

onefudge

This makes so much sense! Love it!

DJ_ElGreko_Official

You can get wood easily by just planting more trees, also with foraging iridium and double the truffles of your pigs you can make hella money and buy the wood that you're missing out. But it really shouldn't be a problem you can fill out the train station and quarry with trees

Standard_Mushroom273

Girly, I have trees planted all over the place. My farm, the quary, the island. I NEED MORE WOOD 😭😹

DJ_ElGreko_Official

What u need so much wood for🤣

orwells_elephant

There's a treatment for that...

UpsilonAndromedae

I feel like it’s a lot easier to get wood in the 1.6 update.

kitt95

I picked botanist and what I do to get wood is that I have I place in my farm reserved for pines and I use the quarry to plant trees as well. I never buy wood ever, it's too expensive even in year one.

catilineluu

Never heard the term “comedic amounts” to describe what I’m doing, but when you sell like 300 bottles of wine in a day once every couple of days…

DownrightDrewski

I'm the kind of weirdo who likes to process in batches. I want to do wine once a week, not every day. I think comedic amounts is appropriate with the weekly flood of pickles and wine. Not even Pam is making a dent in the amount of wine I'm providing.

catilineluu

Oh yeah, same. Everything finishes at the same time for me, so I have one really big harvest day and then I forget it for a few days so I can do something else.

Jcolebrand

So having three large sheds of kegs is too many? Asking for a friend ...

catilineluu

No, I have four.

anxiouslyinpain

Is having that much sheds really beneficial?? I've been thinking of getting a few more small sheds to fill with kegs because I only have one, and before winter I had 800k during winter I'm down to 60k, I renovated, and did Pam's house mission. So I'm also looking for more ways to make money. I have a few fish ponds. But I'm not looking to go get Lava eels yet, I'm putting off ginger island for a bit and skull caverns because I really wanna focus on getting more money. I'm basically in year 4 and finally found my ancient seed. I completed CC so I've been growing Star fruit in my green house to carry me thru winter.

catilineluu

Great question! I have no fucking clue, I just see the amount of money go up significantly 🤷🏻‍♀️

anxiouslyinpain

I died laughing hard at that reply 👻

catilineluu

Serious answer: I’d get the seed maker and any regular star fruit, run that guy through the seed maker to get more seeds. Same with ancient fruit. Plant those seeds. Profit.

Jcolebrand

Same. Ginger island and all the iridium hose ends and kegs for days. And at home Junimos to help with the fields.

cmdrtestpilot

It's absolutely beneficial, but at some point you have to ask when enough is enough given your money goals. I'm making enough where I can ignore the costs of anything and just focus on other parts of the game that I enjoy, but if pure profits was my primary goal, I'd have way more than my four large sheds.

agentgravyphone

Iridium foraging also works on wild [season] seeds which I get a lot of use out of

DownrightDrewski

That sweet sweet winter farming option.

ClandestineFox

Do you wait to age the wine? I have a chest full of different wines I'm hanging on to.

DownrightDrewski

I age what I can to iridium, but, I produce far more per week than I can possibly fit in my cellar to age. Most I just sell as is - age the most expensive, sell the rest.

ClandestineFox

Thanks stranger! I'm about to make some money and gain storage once I'm free to play later.

avaraeeeee

am i stupid- how do u make pickles??? i have tried so many times and cannot figure it out lollll

abra_van_kadabra

You just put it in a jar(Turns vegetables into pickles and fruit into jam). A shed full of jars and tons of cauliflower or pumpkins is a good money maker

veri_comfy

Starfruit wine takes a lot of recource investment, but you get it all back quadruplesome pretty quick Truffle farm takes more money, but you can make 100k a day easily

TheyCallMeStone

The drawback of truffles is that you have to pick them up, plus pigs produce nothing for 25-30% of the year. Especially now with the iridium scythe, wine is a no-brainer if you want to be maximizing your profit. You can harvest a whole island farm full of ancient fruit in just a few minutes.

LaughingBeer

Another drawback of truffles is that pigs only find them if you are awake, so no going to bed before 5PM. Late game, I go right back to bed a lot becuase I'm just waiting for something specific, so I don't do the pig farm.

booksnweights

Starfruit wine is easy money too. I try to eventually fill the greenhouse with ancient fruit so I don’t have to replant. I still haven’t found a seed on this play through on year 3 though.

veri_comfy

If you want ancient seeds go kill a bunch of grubs and cave flies 0-30 lvl in the mines, they will eventually drop the ancient seed. One of the only reliable ways to get it

PM_meGhoti_tacos

Good crops are the start of your empire. But no one is going to become bezos rich with and handful of berries. It's all about the artisan goods my friend. Wines are my go too. Kegs are cheapish once you have a steady cash flow, fill up shed after shed with legs and start cranking out wine.

itsamberleafable

>fill up shed after shed with legs Second this. Go round in the dead of night and chop the villagers legs off. You'd be amazed at how much they'll pay to get them back

Kagevjijon

![img](emote|t5_2wb7y|51697) Crime is profitable. Can you believe some people just throw away diamonds in their trash can? Government calls it stealing, I call it Salvaging.

JessNoelle

I thought I was the only one who does a daily dumpster diving run. 😂 I love the geodes from the museum garbage can.

orwells_elephant

Yours is the second comment I've seen with a :###: thing. What's the significance?

Fine_Ad_5799

I think it must be the emoji that maybe you can't see for some reason

wack-mole

Start with pee hair

Key_Spirit8168

They grow back tho? wdym?

bramley

> Kegs are cheapish once Just make sure you have a row or two of Oak trees tapped!

Gujuluju

Stomp those grapes 😂

Beneficial_Breath232

* People with LOT of money are not at their first farm * They have optimized everything to have as much money as possible since the begining of the farm * They may be using mods like Automate that makes your farm waaaaay more efficient

WhatsThePointFR

I managed to hit a mil in year 3, this is my first playthough. But i am that kinda guy to try max optimise as much as I can - I was even restarting days if i missed stuff etc. tbh once i got that far, and all the means to make more I kinda just stopped and now i hop on to do relaxed stuff.

charityarv

lol I just reached one mil on year 4 fall. There was a lot of stuff I missed but oh well. That’s farming right?

WhatsThePointFR

Yeah my 3rd year kinda hit me like "theres no rush" and now I'm going back to find all the cool little things across the map vs indutrialising my farm to hell haha

Mahajarah

This. Grandpas inheritance which gives you a free packback upgrade effectively and to not worry about your first tool upgrade followed by a modest amount of seeds jumpstarts everything tremendously. It's not that insane since you can easily get plenty of money fishing for the first few days. Automate is also a good one, since that just lets you load and forget most things. Combine alongside it also lets you keep things generally compact, although it's technically slower. There's a diminishing return, but I don't care about that. Once you start hitting around 40-50 mil like I have, you can easily just buy 10 million gold worth of wood from robin, make 200 stacked casks and what have you, and everything that hits it is iridium in one day. Stacking kegs in 20's makes it where every juice or wine produces in 12 hours basically. Finally, Cornucopia and Stills, two separate mods, are hilarious together. Gives some crops with no major functionality right now, mainly meant for decoration and lets more grops be big. Not that game changing. Stills lets you turn juices into vodka and other stuff into alcohol. It's mainly a space saver for mass selling wines at the cost of 1 coal. But here's the kicker. Any juice can be transformed. For some reason, Ginseng is in cornucopia, and it sells for like 3165 base price, taking all season to grow, and takes four turnips to get. You might be asking where is this going. Ooohoho, the answer is 'places.' So you mass grow as many turnips as you can, trade those ALL in for ginseng and grow them ALL winter. That's all you gotta do. Once you're sitting on about 1200 ginseng or so, you're ready. Toss those into kegs. Make the juice. The juice sells for like 50,000 a piece at iridium quality, which you can't get, so it's balanced right? You now still the juice. You now have a bottle of Ginseng vodka totally at 200,000 or so. Now you \*age it.\* It's now worth like, 300,000. But we're billy mays now. "BUT I'M NOT DONE YET!" You can get Juniper berry as forage during winter. That's right. This vodka plus Iridium Juniper berries adds on another like 175 to the base value. It's exponentially multiplicative, remember? It's now something like, 350,000 a bottle. A BOTTLE. # You have 300 of these now. You have nearly one hundred million gold. Modding! Fun for the whole family, reaaaaaaaaaaaally bad for the Gem Sea's economy.

Key_Spirit8168

bro i barely understood what half of this means, but ducktales awoohoo

Mahajarah

Ok. so in short. Mods - Automate ( put chests next to machines and it'll autofeed and take results), Combine (Lets you make multiple machines and CTRL + Click them to combine them into one machine that runs slightly less efficiently at the bonus of taking up one slot, which stops mattering in the late game) , Cornucopia (A mostly decorative crop expansion with a couple of really poorly thought out additions), Stills (As in the thing that lets you turn mashed corn into whiskey. Lets you turn stuff into alcohol, mainly juice into vodka and wine into brandy. Meant to produce certain booze, but lets you combine mass quantities of things for storage. We abuse this. ) Turnips - Buy the seeds from Pierre, grow as many as you can. Turn these into the Dwarf in the mines, you get 1 Ginseng seed for 4 turnips of any quality. This is a spice but processes as a vegetable. Gold quality is around 5000 base value. Keg it to get Juice. This is supposed to be balanced because you can't age juice. Stills lets you turn Juice into Alcohol. It does this by labeling the juice byproduct as a kind of Wine. The Wine can be aged, turning it into Iridium Quality. After this is done, you can combine the resulting Alcohol back into the still with Foraged Juniper berries. This turns it into Gin. Doing this adds on another 175 multiplier to the base price, which is exponential due to have the math works. tl;dr mod authors do not think about how systems can interact with other systems when devving, big money as a result.

orwells_elephant

Well, I don't optimize a damn thing, but after a certain amount of time, you cross a threshold where the daily grind starts reaping solid profit. Patience alone will get you there.

prettyaverageprob

Sounds like you're on the right track at least! Have you completed the community center? That will give a reward where you can grow your star fruits year round. OR if you have any ancient seeds, grow it in the greenhouse. When it has a fruit, put that in the seed maker, and keep making more until you have enough to fill your greenhouse. This doesn't make as much money but some people like it cause it's a bit less work (ancient fruit never needs to be replanted, it's like blueberries). Starfruit is the way to go for pure profit though. Do you have kegs? Put tappers on oak trees, do some mining, build a shed and then a big shed, fill it with kegs and put your starfruit in those kegs. You'll be rich!!!! Now build more sheds, more kegs to put in those sheds. This is the best way to make money in this game. Do you have pigs? Truffle oil is worth a lot of gold, you can probably make 30-50k each day easily with a barn full of pigs.

mabhatter

Yeah.  If you watch YouTubers like Sharky you'll see they spend a lot of focus early in the game leveling up all five skills to 10, usually by mid Summer or Fall.  They also mine like crazy to get to gold for upgrading all their tools (including the trash can) as fast as possible.  Getting all those done makes every swing of your tool use like half the energy and affect more crops at a time so you can make bigger gardens faster.    Completing the Community Center early in Year 2 gives you a bunch of free perks... but you also learn to make the things you get sooner.  Community Center is all about Spreadsheets to mark which specific items you can get where and when as quickly as possible.  You get a lot of free stuff like shortcuts, the minecarts, the bus, and the greenhouse which all let you do things faster and use the greenhouse to grow things out of season.

prettyaverageprob

Haha yeah, so many guides open during year 1 😅. There are some good ones out there that say what you need for each season. Community center is amazing to complete in year 1 if you can, so many perks so early. It's funny that joja route is so much more simple and easy. Just make money and you're good to go lol.

Special_South_8561

With the forager upgrades I prefer to sell my double Iridium truffles, oil sells for a bit more but is a hassle.

Adventurous-Dog420

I just unlocked casks and wanted to see how much I could make in the two seasons waiting for the wine to finish. My one shed with 10 pigs generated almost 500k in truffle oil, and that was me being semi lazy with harvesting every day.

wnchstr_rose

Don’t worry too much about it. You’re on the right track with starfruit and ancient fruit. Make sure to fill your greenhouse and your plot of land on ginger island with either one of those. As far as seasonal crops go, my personal favorite is rhubarb for spring and pumpkins for fall (also pineapples for ginger island). Those are great for preserves jars. Also don’t sleep on the bee hives! Fairy rose honey in fall specifically is basically passive income since all you need to do is plant a couple of fairy roses (or any other valuable flowers for spring and summer). There are great beehive layouts both here on Reddit and on the wiki if you’re interested. Artisan Goods aside one of the best moneymakers are pigs. Truffles and truffle oil will make you A LOT of money if you commit to getting a good amount of pigs.

sydbey_

just noting that you can place a lot of these beehives with fairy rose on ginger island and never need to replant so you can harvest honey year round

whimsea

I get over 100k every 4 days from fairy rose honey on my island farm!

pistonkamel

“I’ve only make 6 million gold” makes me feel like a slacker. I bought a chicken yesterday

LemmiwinksQQ

Large scale farming and wine making, that's pretty much it. Grab the Artisan perk that makes wines 40% more valuable. Even before you get to the keg city phase, if you work all year on getting more sprinklers and expanding the farming area, you'll be rolling in dough in no time.

Repulsive_Net_8716

The greenhouse helps a lot for growing starfruit during all seasons, ive set up a couple seedmakers inside the greenhouse and am currently trying to grow and process as many starfruit seeds as i can. That'll set up a decent money base for every season. Also cheese and mayo are great daily ways to make money. Slap a couple barns and coops on your farm and start mass producing mayo every morning. Start upscaling both of these moneymakers and you should be able to make a good chunk of change every day

Special_South_8561

Seed returns on starfruit are too low to be effective, just sell some fruit and buy more seeds.

LadyoftheLewd

I've read that ancient fruit is better cause it regrows.

Special_South_8561

I like anxiety fruit for that reason, but I just sell any silver+ right away. Most people will keg their starfruit.

SidheDreaming

My favorite fruit is anxiety fruit too! Makes me work a WHOLE lot faster... then slower... then over-thinking my slowness... then...

Special_South_8561

I had to keep the typo it made me laugh Qi fruit would be more accurate I'm sure!

FeuerSchneck

Ugh Qi fruit is absolutely the anxiety fruit 😩

Rainuwastaken

"Does....does it ever stop staring at you?" *"Oh, goodness no! That's how you know it's ready to harvest, when the judgemental stare is nearly overwhelming."* "I don't think I wanna be a farmer anymore dad."

DumpsterPuff

Anxiety fruit 🤣 I know what you meant but I can't stop laughing at this

sobrique

Seed returns in general are usually 'not worth it' IMO vs. just buying more seeds. I guess technically a 750g starfruit is slightly cheaper than 2 x 400g seed packets, but not when you're losing out on a 2250-3150g starfruit wine. Exceptions are for things you can't just buy for gold of course. Ancient Fruit, Pineapples (seeds cost magma caps), Strawberries (due to limited buying opportunity) and a bit of an edge case of Sweet Gem Berries (as you can't buy the seeds, but you also can't process the crop for a value increase)

HadrianMCMXCI

For me, I fill the greenhouse with Hops as soon as I get it. IPA is such a good source of income when the Hops are growing all year long, never need replanting and regrow every day. Only takes 2 days in the keg too! 42k every two days is enough to pay for the next 5 sheds full of kegs that can focus on wine production.

sobrique

I did do a 'summer of hops' once, and then concluded I'd never do that again.

1031Cat

Flower honey. The moment you set down your first bee hive, in 4 days, you're making money. No kegs. No waiting a month to see a fruit you'll have to immediately plant to start growing more fruit. Throw down flowers next to them and watch the profits soar. Then obtain the artisan perk and watch as you make 952g for every Fairy Rose honey your hives make. Then there's Ginger Island where your apiary will make you more money than you'll ever spend in the game. Bwaa haa haa! Oh, right. This isn't a thriller. Carry on.

PeasiusMaximus

How does it make more on Ginger Island????

SidheDreaming

Because Fairy Rose grows year round? That's my guess. Also, winter doesn't come to Ginger Island, so the hives work in winter

FeuerSchneck

This is the reason. Fairy rose honey is worth the most by far, so being able to produce it year-round is a big boost to profits.

SirMoose14

You can place a ridiculous amount and get fairy rose year round instead of just half of one season

PeasiusMaximus

OooOoooOoOo thank you for that tip!! 1000+ hours and I’ve not done much with honey 😂 so that’s amazing.

MGorak

The west side of the ginger farm is suspiciously beehive friendly. If you plant fairy roses in the locations where you can(where ginger grows and the diggable spot here and there), pretty much the whole west side of the river is within range of a flower. I place 200 something beehouses on ginger that gives me about 200k gold every 4 days. It helps pays for stuff while i grow my ancient fruits for my wine empire.

PeasiusMaximus

Whaaaaa. Definitely setting this up tonight.

sobrique

In 1.6, you can use garden pots too, and thus don't need to 'waste' the ginger-spots. Right at the edge of the grass next to the beach for example, and then put the hives on the beach itself. Or down the 'right side' of the farm, where there's a grassy verge, etc.

MGorak

Whaaaaaaaaat? I need to try that then. So much potential! Much cleaner paths for harvesting.

Hookin'

MysticxRunes

You're on the right track with the starfruit! Starfruit wine will get you frankly obscene amounts of money if you age it to iridium star quality in your basement, but that's a really slow process. In all honesty, the obelisk to transport to Ginger Island was the best thing I ever did. If you're missing the means to craft one, I recommend a stingray fish pond, as they will (rarely) provide you with the dragon's teeth you need, which if you're like me and had bad luck farming them in the volcano dungeon is helpful enough to be worth it. But basically, Fridays are my money makers. On Fridays, the ancient fruit in my greenhouse and plots on Ginger Island are ready, and so is my community center full of pineapples. Look up Wickedy on youtube, one of her videos has a layout of everywhere you can put flower pots in the community center, and it honestly makes a huge difference, having all that real estate for extra crops. I'm in no way optimized, just playing the game, and even so, the money I make every week is... a lot, and that's just from selling the fruit itself. I keep the low quality starfruit to make into wine and jelly, which gets sold as soon as it's ready (enough wine is kept in a chest to refill the casks when they're finally finished aging and the rest is pure profit), and sell the silver and gold-star starfruit. All the ancient fruit and pineapples go straight in the shipping bin. Also, don't sleep on cheese! I keep two rows of casks in the basement for goat cheese, since my goats are already giving me gold star cheese anyways, and it doesn't take very long to age it to iridium quality, just a few days, and that nets you a pretty good amount as long as you have the right perks. I can't speak to any of the newest features since I'm on Switch, so there's probably newer and better ways to make money than what I'm aware and capable of, but again, for someone just casually playing instead of optimizing, I'm still making bank every in-game week, and the aged starfruit wine is an *insane* amount of money when it's ready. If I were smarter, I'd probably make more diamonds with crystalariums and harvest my field of fairy roses from Ginger Island to make the magic powder and get that aged wine faster. As it is, I just keep my fairy roses for honey ;3

sailor-shelby

What makes most money for me is the animals! I have 4 cows, 4 goats, 2 sheep, 2 pigs, 4 chickens, 4 ducks, 4 rabbits, and a lot of cheese and mayo makers and truffle oil presses. I sell all of the duck feathers, rabbits feet, most cloth, and the cheese, mayo, and truffle oil. We have wine and jams in rotation, but wine is the only thing that can top the daily profit we pull in from the animal products. It takes the early part of the day, but I am always free by noon to do whatever else.

dan-lugg

I'm a sucker for combat, so I spend a lot of time in the Skull Cavern, but I always leave it on >!Dangerous mode!< once that's available, so I end up farming tons of Iridium and >!Radioactive!< ore, especially once you can get hundreds and hundreds of staircases every week by >!trading Jade to the Desert Trader on Sundays!<. Anyway, Iridium and >!Radioactive!< bars sell for a lot of money, so that's a pretty solid source of income, outside of the Artisan goods methods mentioned here, like wine. So, when I feel like doing a few days of mining/combat, my schedule is, 1) get up and grab the refined bars from last night to sell, 2) refill the furnaces with the next batch of ore, 3) head to the Skull Cavern for more until I pass out, and 4) repeat. Just from ore/bars I probably clear 300k to 400k a day. ETA — This can be highly luck dependent though, so not the most consistent method, but it can definitely work.

LaughingBeer

That's basically the mid-game strategy >!(minus dangerous mode)!< when min/maxing to fund the keg empire.

dan-lugg

Yep, exactly. My keg empire is quickly coming together (when I was last playing) and I think I'm mid-summer, year 2.

The_Sceptic_Lemur

I only make enough money so I can buy what I need without worry. I‘m not at all interested in maxing profits. I just want to relax when playing this game.

KingGorilla

Same, that's why i make ancient fruit wine over star fruit.

GusPlus

I’m scrambling right now so I can get to that point. I have to get 2 million for the return wand, and I want that bad boy. I haven’t really ever looked at how to be more efficient or looked hard at profit or anything in the past until this thread, just checked the wiki to see when/where certain fish spawn and such…and now I’m realizing that my artisanal ass needs more than one pig. I always pet Snutchers because he makes me good money, and yet I never made the mental connection to just…buy a ton of pigs.

TheMansAnArse

Starfruit and kegs

Pleasant-Shape-173

I do what a lot of people in the comments are saying, but I also try to make it a priority to automate as many things as humanly possible. Like, have a bunch of bee hives on ginger island with a fairy rose; have a shed of kegs devoted to wine; auto grabbers in all coops and barns to just run in and grab animal products. There’s only so much you can do, but I recommend the automate mod super highly. It takes everything I mentioned and others mentioned and makes it easier have a bunch of different things going to make lots of money. Also, with the new update, drying crops/foragables and smoking fish can be worth a lot. Once you automate a lot of this, it’s just a matter of checking and collecting things occassionally

Nicholas_TW

I'm sure there's a slightly more optimized way to do it, but basically my strategy to get more money than I'll ever need is, 1) Get an ancient seed 2) Plant it in the greenhouse (use the best-quality speed-grow I can get) 3) Grow it, use seed makers to get more ancient seeds 4) Repeat steps 2-3 until I have a whole greenhouse full of ancient seeds 5) Using sprinklers, dedicate my ENTIRE FIELD (except maybe 1 coop and 1 barn so I can keep getting animal products for quests) to planting and growing ancient seeds. (I recommend planting 1/7 of your field per day, so a different section is harvestable every day, so you don't get overwhelmed. Though doing it the other way, having a dedicated "harvest everything" day is also helpful in its own way). 6) Have some sheds full of kegs. (This can take a long time to prepare, because you need a lot of oak resin, so start preparing ASAP). 7) As your ancient fruit come in, start making ancient fruit wine. 8) Fill up your cellar with casks. Fill up those casts with ancient fruit wine. Pull them out like a year later. Just sell the rest of your wine as it comes in while you wait. Do that and you should have more cash than you'll ever need.

LateralThinker13

Don't forget Krobus sells an iridium sprinkler every Friday.

VapoursAndSpleen

I just don’t worry about it. I did discover that if I make friends with Caroline ASAP, I can get a good start on things.

TrashCanUnicorn

Tea Sapling price got halved in 1.6 so it's not quite as good as it used to be, but still decent

Low-Abbreviations-38

just unlocked the bus and the greenhouse and planted star fruit in it and turned it into wine. I now have more money than I need and I honestly wish I were broke because that’s more fun

Keianh

On top of Starfruit wine I also went the long-route with Qi's Prismatic Grange and have 5 sheds filled with the crops I need to complete it on the spot and use 33 Orange trees for orange along side some sheds where I keep my coffee beans and Pineapples. I keep the lowest quality crops and sell the silver and gold for most of them. The bigger money maker for me is I just have a few hundred Bee Houses on the left side of Ginger Island and all of them are near at least one Fairy Rose. I even have most of it set up in a lifeless repeating pattern of a four-way stop connecting to a square roundabout-like path I've come to call "The Beeburbs" or "Beeburbia".

DJ_ElGreko_Official

Ignore all other animals and get yourself lots of pigs (assuming you already have community center fixed) With lvl 10 foraging you can be collecting 2x the amount of truffles iridium quality. Can process into truffle oil or sell as is. Have a good production of Ancient fruit-->make kegs and start putting them in kegs make more until you produce the same amount of ancient fruit per week as the kegs u got. Every summer you can plant starfruit 2 times if you're early enough, with no need for fertiliser. Get yourself farm computer so u know how many tiles u have to fill of your farm (assuming you already have a farm with sprinklers)

Kiki-Y

I run a massive alcohol empire. I have a ton of beehives that make wild honey and I store those all year until winter. In summer and fall, I run wheat so, in winter, I can make beer. Then ancient fruit wine of course.

ptk77

Sell lots and lots of iridium quality ancient fruit wine with the artisan profession.

NotUrReaIDad

I make it a goal to get high farming (kegs) and grow star fruit in the greenhouse/ grandpas farm up until fall to where I age it all. It’s a process but that’s kinda what makes it fun?

Troy64

Starfruit wine. Fill your greenhouse and maybe a chunk of ginger island with starfruit. Make sure you have sprinklers to cover it. Speed-gro is a good idea, too. When you harvest, sell all gold starfruits. Put standard and silver into storage and use them to feed kegs in your house or a shed or something. Lastly, when you have a batch of wine, go to your cellar and FILL it with casks. Start at a far wall and put wine in as you place each row of casks. You should be anle to get almost 200 casks in. Then, stock up wine until you have enough for another batch to age. Once you have that next batch prepped, you can sell any excess until you reload the casks again. Rinse, repeat. If you want to go even faster, find a way to stock up fairy dust. Either crystalariums making diamonds and a big summer crop of fairy rose or, SPOILER >!in 1.6 you can trade mystic tree sap for fairy dust at the racoon shop!<. Either way, once you have enoigh fairy dust, you want to use it specifically when your casks go to gold. It will move them forward one stage (reg to silver, silver to gold, gold to iridium) and gold to iridium takes twice as long as either of the previous stages (28 days! A whole month!) By skipping that stage, you massively increase productivity. However, I've never personally managed to acquire that much fairy dust. Mostly because I've just never needed it. Good luck!

Heallun123

Greenhouse and ginger Island for all year farming. I'm a huge fan of beehives on ginger with fairy roses. Just collect your cash every 4 days or so. If you use the automate mod then anything works really.

TheSexyGrape

Scamming people

t0atsen

i fill my greenhouse with hops and grind out selling pale ales, as well as diamonds in crystallariums

Midnight_Cowboy-486

Fill your farm with kegs, preserves, oil machines... anything to improve your crop value. And get that 2nd farm going on Ginger Island.

catilineluu

Getting good Jk, making a metric fuck ton of kegs and selling wine ideally from star fruit but other high priced fruits.

creamcoves

Ancient fruit all over any farm space, very annoying at times but when you turn it into wine you can get soooo much money from it.

malie127jade

get a barn full of pigs and fill your greenhouse and ginger island with ancient fruit. ancient fruit makes more money than starfruit but it takes a while to set up. feed all the ancient fruit you get into seed makers until you fill up the greenhouse and/or ginger island with ancient fruit, while you wait for it to fill up plant star fruit. turn it all into wine, turn all the truffles into truffle oil. for your actual farm, invest a LOT of money into the most lucrative plants at the beginning of each season. i usually get like 200 pumpkin seeds and 150 cranberry seeds at the beginning of fall at least. that’s what i do and i get BANK.

lizhenry

Ancient fruit wine , you don't have to keep replanting it like Starfruit. I know truffles are more profitable but I like my chickens, goats, and cows- process everything in big batches with the artisan perk! The bus tunnel fits a lot of kegs.

Stralisemiai

Wine and preserves on mass!!

Special_South_8561

Upgrade your tools, go get way too much iron & gold, put quartz in the furnace, make your own sprinklers. Speed-Gro. Potatoes have a chance at double yiled. Hops (plan your trellis). Frogs and Cranberries it must be Fall

Fit_Job4925

do not sleep on starfruit wine. i regularly get 1mil selling it

EvilSavant30

plant starfruit all over and make wine and if you want age it, usually I sell half and age half . Also tons of pigs all over making truffles sell for huge

brokenhairtie

I'm currently on, like, probably my 5th or 7th farm. This is the first time I actually got a hang of scull cavern and enjoy going there. Wanna say; give it time, you'll figure it out.

puddingboocah

Aged cheese 👌🏻 (But that was year 4 on a really old save so idk if it's actually that profitable)

No-Locksmith-8590

6 million??!! Damn I was happy when I hit 1.

MadeOfEurope

Ancient Fruit wine, ancient fruit, cheese

NJGGoodies12

Fill up ginger island with iridium sprinklers and starfruit and then use kegs to turn it into wine. That alone will get you rich very quickly especially if you fill it up with hyper grow and make enough kegs to put all of them in. On your own farm you can also do this in the greenhouse and even make another greenhouse using garden plots and a shed with deluxe retaining soil with 100% chance of staying watered so you plant them and leave until they are done. Dinosaur is my favorite animal to use because aesthetic but they are also a great money maker albeit not as good as ostriches or pigs as far as I know, but if you do the starfruit thing it won’t matter. Also change your perk to artisan so the wine sells for more. It takes some time setting it all up but honestly don’t rush because once you start having like 500,000g nights consistently the g system loses its value and you genuinely feel like a lot of stuff isn’t worth it which is why a lot of people do challenge runs and why I only do the starfruit thing on ginger island and then grow what I want and get the animals I want at home

robbert-the-skull

Potatoes, Strawberries, Blueberries, and artichokes to start. They are cheaper seeds that sell for a lot in comparison when they’re done. Get ancient seeds and the green house when you can. You can make a killing on ancient fruit and ancient fruit wine. Fruit will almost always pay you more. When you get the green house you can also get 2-4 of each seasonal reoccurring plant. Over the winter turn those into seeds to plant huge fields of them. You’ll be eating money by the spoonful in no time. Also, when you get the Crystalarium, you can grow Diamonds. Have fun!

SpindriftKodiak

Starfruit wine, ostrich mayo (10 jars per egg), truffle oil, pickled cauliflower, pickled pumpkin, pickled red cabbage, aged lava eel roe and dehydrated ancient fruit, those are my main sources of income. I currently make about 100 to 150k per day.

Womanette

Someone on the wiki did the math for the best crops to plant each season, blueberries, cranberries and potatoes are generally how I started making a lot of money, and then once I had access to farming on Ginger island I use that area to plant my ancient fruit and continue to use the other farm for more seasonal exploits

Liria_Rose

I turn eggs into mayo, sell minerals, smoked fish, gifts from villagers along with anything else I don't need or want. I can make good amount of money, but not as much as the pro players. Some people name their characters after a item code, often for the prismatic shard [74] which you automatically earn in your inventory when a villager says your name. I've used this method myself to complete the joja route on a separate farm so I could earn the achievement. Edit: if you have the statue of perfection, it will give you some iridium every morning. They sell for a nice amount.

ThrowRA-Illuminate27

I’ve only just breached 1 million at the start of year 3 (first play through) but I’ve found on top of starfruit ancient fruit, and melons, I’ve been making a lot of money from mayonnaise and cheese, as well as truffles/oil. When all truffles are iridium with the foraging perk it adds up quickly

thecatdoggo

ancient fruit wine aged to perfection and the good animal products tbh ![img](emote|t5_2wb7y|51481) with all the misc things

LemonSprocket

MEAD!! Every Friday you can buy honey from the oasis for $200, and 10 hours in a keg turns it into mead that sells for $440 with the artisan profession. You can make 2 batches of mead every single day, with each batch more than doubling your money. Your only limit here is how many kegs you have.

nick3lodeon_21

*me watching you call yourself pathetic for earning 6mil gold when i just earned 2mil* ![img](emote|t5_2wb7y|51693)

JohnStringss

I don't really need money anymore, so I just hoard everything I produce except iridium quality starfruit wine, which takes two months to produce per batch, which makes my farm feel like the supplier for a luxury brand of wine 😆

madeat1am

Sheds I make 93 diamond every 5 days Plus sheds to make cheese and mayonnaise and full of kegs and jars Just make a shit ton The jars are usually full of tea leaves I make 123 every day of last day of rhe week. It takes time to get the material bit I make bank

seniorstew

A mix of sweet gem berries, ancient fruit and star fruit in the island farm, star fruit wine, ancient fruit preserves and two plots on my main farm for seasonal crops as well as star fruit and fruit trees in my greenhouse

Veneretio

Lots of ancient fruit with kegs and preserve jars. Lots of animals with their machines. That’s about it.

Teanah12

Go to desert, buy a zillion starfruit seeds, plant on ginger island with iridium sprinklers. Any that come up silver/gold/iridium quality get sold immediately. Regular get turned into wine/jam. Preserves jars are easier to make, so fill your space with them until you've got enough oak juice for kegs. Fill the train station with oak trees and tappers to speed this up. Plant a few seasonal crops at home farm to fill special orders/cooking/gifting. Fill greenhouse with ancient fruit, make wine, put in basement casks. Year 1 I'm usually pretty broke but by year 3 I'm basically printing money.

Lenneth1031

The large scale of ancient fruits + kegs. Yes, spring and fall can be bad compared to summer. That's why I planted about 3000 ancient seeds on the main farm + 900 ancient seeds on the island, and about 100 in the greenhouse. Also, I planted about 500 acorns, including 250 in the train station, and put about 5k kegs all over the town. That would net about 100 mils per year.

IndependenceFickle95

Ancient fruit wine + Artisan ftw

Frail_Peach

I make all of my big chunks of money from aged cheese but tbh I’m on year 6 and I haven’t made much more than you. Feels like more than enough to do what I want to do, what do you need so much money for? The wizard craft stuff?

a4ux1n

I have 2 kegs of sheds and my ginger island is only ancient fruit atm!

Annual_Ad1862

I sell an ungodly amount of ancientfruit wines and artisan products/ iridium truffle every week, sell ores etc. And have a lot of patience and kept myself busy doing qi challenges over and over until I reached perfection (that damn golden clock). I'm about to do the same in my 1.6 save lol.

olddummy22

6 million is a lot. I only make 15-35000 a day but having more money doesn't seem to serve any purpose.

threeeyedghoul

Ridiculous amounts of Starfruit wine. Get a plantation of starfruit wine in the valley and in Ginger Island. You don't need good quality crops if you're gonna keg it so speed-gro is the way to go. Keg everything then age it in your basement. I save my greenhouse for ancient fruits and these go to the keg as well but as soon as it is processed, it is shipped. Rest of the game, go fish. Feels kinda grindy to do this though. Keeping pigs are also great since a full barn of pigs can give you enough truffle > truffle oil to pay for 1 pig each day. You might need to select carefully your perks ( Tiller + Artisan) for you wine & (Gatherer + Botanist) for truffle oil

sex_and_candy_

Ancient fruit wine is the bulk, but daily cheese and mayo also makes a lot of money.

Little-Zucchini4776

So wine produces every 7 days. I sell the wine then, cause putting it in the cellar is 2 months. And in 2 months I can make much more money selling basic wine than I’ll make with cellar wine. Plus I can put kegs anywhere compared to having casks just in the cellar

Knetknight19

Utilize the island farm :) you can have a lot more starfruit or ancient fruit :) also beehives there make good money.

NecRobin

What do you even need 6 million for?

Renatmus

i always utilize both crops and animals in my most recent perfection save, i had 24 pigs, 12 cows, goats, void chickens, each with their own entire barn/coop, and i would process their animal products to the respective artisan good at the end of each week. i can’t remember how much it made me, but it was a lot! i think the truffle oil was the best (i also had 2 chickens and ducks, and 8 rabbits, but their profit was much less) i kept my greenhouse, and ginger island, full of ancient fruit, and i processed it into wine using kegs in a big shed, my cellar, and the quarry, which was my big money maker; not to mention processing any miscellaneous fruits or fish roe as well all in all, my best suggestion personally is to have multiple different kinds of income, that’s the way i’ve always played; i’ve never focused too much onto animals or farming or fish ponds, i always aim to have all 3 on my farms

chunkeymunkeyandrunt

I’m going to start this by saying it’s _not_ pathetic lol. Don’t you worry. It’s your first time playing!! You’re exploring and having fun. That’s the whole point of this game. That being said, I 100% understand the drive to make money. So! Here’s my recommendations purely based on how I personally play - everyone will have different methods so feel free to pick and choose what you like. Pigs! Truffles with the foraging Botanist perk make them iridium quality. You can either sell these straight for quick cash (1250 each), or use truffle machines and have the artisan perk for even more (1491 each). If you don’t have the artisan perk, iridium truffles sell for more than regular truffle oil (only 1065 each). Just two or three barns should get you rolling in some consistent dough. Takes about a full season to get the pigs matured and finding truffles consistently but as you increase their heart levels the chances of finding additional truffles increases. On average a pig at max happiness finds about 3 truffles a day. So if you have 24 pigs, that’s approximately 72 truffles a day. Give or take a few as with the Gatherer perk you have the chance to pick up doubles when harvesting them. So let’s say you get 75, that’s 93,750g a day just from raw truffles. You’ll be making a million every ten days or so, except for winter. They won’t go outside if it’s raining either. When it comes to seasonal crops, I personally plant my vine crops in the greenhouse in smaller quantities. This way I get things like strawberries and hops etc year round. I >!dehydrate!< fruit, pickle veggies. (I’m not sure from your post whether you play on PC or not, so that’s just a mild spoiler of a new machine in 1.6). Crops like ancient fruit, hops, and star fruit get kegged. During each season I plant the most profitable crops - spring is cauliflower, but kale is a decent second (especially as you get closer to the end of the season and don’t have enough time for another crop of cauliflower). Summer is melons (or of course star fruit, but I usually leave Ginger Island as a year round star fruit farm). Fall is pumpkins, with amaranth being a pretty decent second. Basically once I’ve grown each crop at least once for the shipping requirement I usually abandon things like parsnips and focus on high value crops. If you _are_ playing 1.6, I’d also recommend focusing on fishing. The >!fish smoker doubles the value of fish you put into it!<. As passive income, setting up as many crystalariums you can with diamonds is a nice chunk of change every week. For the rare seeds (sweet gem berries) I use deluxe speed grow in the greenhouse. This shaves a few days off of each harvest. I put regular quality ones in the seed maker and sell the silver and gold star ones. And I of course buy every single one I find at the traveling cart (make sure you’re checking every Friday and Sunday!). Ancient seeds, since they’re a renewable crop, don’t really benefit from the speed grow beyond the first harvest so I’m just patient with those and save the fertilizer. Quality doesn’t matter when you put it in a seed maker - this is a common misconception. So just pop any old ancient fruit in the seed maker to continue growing your crops. _(The only reason I filter by quality on the Sweet Gem Berries is because the chances of getting enough seeds to compensate for the sell price is too low for it to make financial sense.)_ I could go on and on. There are spreadsheets out there that people have made. You can go absolutely wild minmaxing and optimizing if you like. But try to still enjoy the game! And hey, you can always start a new save file when you’re ready, and you’ll have all the things you learned that you can apply moving forward 😁

shiveringsongs

I love mining in the skull caverns so I sell Iridium bars with the Blacksmith perk! It doesn't compare to an absurd amount of kegs but I prefer to take the more active role in my income.

inquisitiveeyebc

Once you have the greenhouse it's a blue print for making money, as you find ancient seeds focus on growing them then using the seed maker to make more. It takes 28 days to bear fruit but after that they continue to bear fruit every 7 days, make that fruit into wine and you'll make more $$ than you know what to do with. Obviously iridium wine goes for way more than silver or gold but gold has a great return on time in my opinion. I have two sheds filled with kegs, I tend to place the fruit in kegs mon-fri and harvest mon-fri leaving sat/sun for mines or fishing

Single-Scratch4454

Milk into cheese and eggs into mayooooo

Baznerys

When I first started playing, I made lots of money by fishing regularly and upgrading to the iridium rod ASAP.

ellenbellen12

Wine and cheese empire haha
