My parents are 50/50 on buying me games, so now instead of making my mom buy me the game i make her send my allowance money to my bank account so there arent any complains.
Omg are your parents mine! They don’t trust anything online and they suspect everything online for being a scam. Don’t ask. They only gave me my own debit card when I was 16. Idk if that is normal but my friends had their earlier.
That's abnormal, unless times have changed a lot. Most people didn't have a debit card until they had a bank account. Or if I went on a trip for emergency use only. My parents trusted me, but I never needed a debit card, everything you can buy is with cash.
Ah close, we must be long-lost cousins then! haha, mine don't think of a scam, but used to(for 2+ years i asked for money, for games so now they trust it fully just dont like wasting money on it but still do). They just prefer me to spend the money on something better like clothes, but it's pointless when they provide me with everything like what else am i supposed to spend my money on
Even as a kid my parents never gave me allowance lol. I had to do chores because I was told to and had a roof over my head. Them giving me a debit card never crossed my mind. Times are a changin'.
Unfortunately many kids don't even have that option, I never really got any pocket money as a kid.
Fortunately now as an adult I can work and buy whatever I want.
I've spent too much money on my holidays and while I do have money to buy new games, I also have an enormous backlog of games I've yet to play. So, I think I'll skip the summer sales this year.
Me too, I have some games I bought on the spring sale like It Takes Two and other games, I haven't played them yet cause I don't have anyone to play them with, or, cause my laptop can't handle them
Spore, Terraria, The Witcher 3, Outlast, Assetto Corsa, Frost Punk, Doom, Firewatch, Outlast 2, Bloons TD 6, Halo collection, Star Wars Jedi Fallen order. These are all in my wish list for later when I can buy them
Ye a lot of people helped me out today and I hope I'll do the same one day too. Literally almost all the games from my wishlist were gifted by a couple of amazing people from here
OP I’ll donate a second, DM if interested. I think a lot of us gamers remember those days, I know I do. I’m fortunate enough now to afford what I like but the struggle days were real.
You are awesome MqStark and seeing all the other people who also chimed in to help OP out with his wishlist is amazing to see! I totally understand OP’s circumstance as I am in their shoes and my steam library is barren with just F2P or gifted games lol and I don’t pirate games either.
Your kindness helped inspire others to do the same and I hope more people follow your lead, it’s just so nice to see first thing in the morning. God bless!
This is wholesome. I was planning on gifting you some of the games on your wishlist myself, until I scrolled down a bit further. Have a great day, dude!
Ive got a few change left to spare as it's the end of the month. I can buy you one as well. Which country are you from? Cause I believe we can't gift games between certain countries on Steam.
I didn't even try to do that, I was just goofing around with a meme maker and scrolled Reddit and saw a post with a cart with 50 games in it and thought of making this meme
Time to get a job my dude, it kinda sucks working when you're younger but when that first paycheck hits and you don't yet have to pay rent or bills or really any major expense it's a great feeling. My first job was McDonald's, and I had 10k saved up after about a year and a half.
There are still a bunch of decent older games that'll work on older hardware. Depending how slow the laptop Warcraft 3 (original not reforged) Half life 1/2. Minecraft maybe?
I don't really like warcraft, half life 1 works perfectly, but the second one needs some graphics tweaked to play it on stable fps. And Minecraft works really slow without optifine, hell, even with optifine it works like shit. I tried with sodium and I finally could play the game like normal people.
I can understand your situation as I also had a shitty pc up until late April. But I have never heard anyone tweaking hl2 to get a stable fps. Would you care to share your spec?
All source engine games(apart from CS:GO) should work great at your machine, you will not believe what I had. I had an Intel 2 duo core with 2GB RAM and onboard Intel family 4 chipset graphics and all source engine games worked great on it. It was the laptop which made me fall in love with valve games. It is a laptop from 2011 and it works great even today (just gotta delete all the incomplete hammer maps to reduce the bloat😅).
Same. I spend around 20€ per year on games, finished nearly every game I have(exept SMB) and I still get called out for trying to use those early euros on celeste and Hades because even though it's anniversary cash, it's "way too much for a game" to my father
I almost fully completed Celeste. I bought it at the spring sale. I'm at the last part where everything Is hard as hell. Now I'm taking a break from it, cause I'm tired of spending hours trying to get past 1 level
I bought Celeste in the last winter sale and have played a lot (I'm at half the steam achievements rn, so a long way to go).
Taking breaks is highly recommended though, cause you play worse when you're not feeling it :>
You should probably show him the reality of game pricing and the fact that prices haven't increased much compared to inflation.
Also Celeste is pretty amazing.
I got a bunch of free games over the years. Here's some help:

https://www.reddit.com/r/GameDealsFree/new/
https://www.reddit.com/r/FreeGameFindings/
https://gq.reddit.com/r/FreeGamesOnSteam/
Beggars can't be choosers. So I only buy them when they are at 90% discount, or when I really, REALLY want the game.
I had a friend who's parents were against videogames, he had to buy them with his own money, until his father found out and destroyed all his games and his ps3 that he bought with his OWN money...i miss my buddy...15 years now...
It's even funnier when you see the "broke" lad is planning to buy a VR Headset, which is clearly a cheap piece of equipment huh? lmao
[https://i.imgur.com/XanzrDi.png](https://i.imgur.com/XanzrDi.png)
He's a kid planning to dump his summer job money into something he wants. Definitely a scam, because as we all did with our earning from our first job, he would know to invest in the stock market as a teenager instead.
Easy, save for a couple of years to buy that one game with high replayability value. I still play on my old ps2 that I got back in 2009. I can easily get any game online on it. I also have a very expensive pc and still think my ps2 gives more fun.
I asked my dad to buy me the halo master chief collection as a birthday gift (i knew it was always on sale during summer sale but sale starts about two months after my birthday) and he used a card which he no longer used cos he didnt wanna actually buy it for me...
Havent asked him for a gift since
That was almost 3 years ago
Truly lol I wouldn't dream of buying even one game in my current situation but one day I'll be able one of those posting screenshots of their cart, I hope.
Meanwhile, I have been waiting for the summer sale for months collecting complete sets of trading cards of 15+ games and not crafting them because I wanted to craft them in the sale, just for my entire inventory to get stolen 1 month before the sale by some Russian dude. Now I don't even wanna buy a game anymore. I so regret not crafting the cards when I got them.
My parents are/were NOT fans of gaming. Growing up I was allowed PC games only - and I had to pay for them. So I basically had only The Sims or online games for years. Now that I'm an adult, I'm slowly exploring all the neat games out there. One advantage of that is that now that I can buy games most of the games I would have loved growing up are much much cheaper than they would have been then. So, that will be something to look forward to in future.
The only advice I can give you for right now is to check out online games. I loved both RuneScape, Wizard 101 and Pirate 101 during that time. If you look for them you will find good games online that are free to help tide you over.
My favourite way to buy games during a steam sale is with gift money from relatives who don't know me well (for my birthday and the epiphany usually)
The bargains combined with the knowledge that anti-videogaming relatives are funding your video gaming is a special kind of fun IMO
In my country (Egypt) there is nobody that supports buying games, instead they pirate it as some people think that all games are free and don't require money + buying games in Egypt is so expensive, for example: to buy Cuphead most people will have to spend 1/6 of thier average salary or even more + international payment is locked behind age 21, due to the fact that most credit cards don't support international payment
I hope to see better pricing in Egypt, so people won't have to pirate games anymore.
It’s ok. Just wait till you’re an adult with a full time job. Then u can be like me and have a massive backlog of unplayed games and still buying more on a regular basis
I know how you feel, i had to save a lot of money and wait paciently for the discounts, but hey, as soon as I start working (I hope before the Steam chrismas sales) I would buy all those fknig games I always wanted >:D
I'm glad that you recived all those gifts from this wonderfull comunity :D Happy sales for everyone <3
PD: (Sorry for the errors i may have comited with some words, love you all)
I have it the same. Wanted to buy myself something for Warhammer 3 or maybe Cyberpunk but I'm too poor for now. I'll have my next pay around the 10th of July, just a day before the end of the summer sale. If they slip up or forget to pay me or the bank sends the money too late... I'll jump off of a bridge.
Man this sucks, I have a similar issue in that I can't get any games during summer sale but for a different reason out of my control, like being in a land occupied by ru so when I tried to buy Binding of Isaac Rebirth or Disco Elysium it just denied the transaction. 😞
Bro, i feel you, but i know some free games to keep you occupied! Postal 1, Codename Zero, Fortress Forever, Shadow Warrior Classic or you could just pirate
If it makes you feel better, i'm in the same boat. I mean i can technically buy a game or two if i want to but noooo, gotta pay for bills, insurance, groceries, and all the other boring stuff and still have some spare liquid money. maybe next sale..
My parents can let me buy any game on Steam and even ready to help me. Recently I passed my exams and got 60$ (5000₽) as a reward and got lot of cool games, mostly SHMUP's (DoDonPachi Resurrection too) and Quake bundle.
Only game I wanted to get was Elden Ring, but only the base game is on sale, and what sucks is the base game + dlc still costs more than the $80 combo package.
even my small Brother which doesnt get Feed with Money decided to do newspaper for the neighbourhood and saved Money 2 years to build His own gaming PC
That’s rough buddy.
You’ll get to join us in the sales someday, I honestly didn’t start using Steam until I was an adult and had my own cash to spend. It has been a lovely investment.
Downside of digital games I guess. Back in my day in a similar situation we’d have to sell our old ones to get new ones (though would always end up regretting it later). For you I guess you’re just gonna have to sell some blood or something 😂
So i'm actually the friend who made his pfp and I absolutely thank the guy who gifted the games to him, he literally woke me up so happy!
Thank you all!
what game you want homie? if it's really cheap rn I might consider gifting it because I've been there too.
best to get a decent job though because then you can buy a shit ton of games from the summer sale. like im getting $360 worth of games for only $61 when I get paid
Mhm, the season sales are the best. I already applied for some jobs and am waiting for a response. As for the gifting, there's no need, I already got a lot of games from a bunch of people here and am really thankful for that, I also appreciate your kindness!! I will try to do the same thing y'all are doing rn
Honestly... i looked at the prices and said nah... For people in the west (well, to the west of me): Imagine you had to pay 200 $/Euros for a **discounted** game. Fuck this shit, i'm out.
Man, i want some games from my wishlist too, here they are:
-Half-Life 3.
-Neverwinter Nights 3.
-Dungeon Siege 1 Remaster.
-Dungeon Siege 2 Remaster.
-Sacred Gold Edition Remastered.
-Torchlight 1 Remaster.
-Torchlight 2 Remaster.
-Torchlight 4.
-Alpha Protocol Remake.
-Arx Fatalis Remake.
-Borderlands 2 Remaster.
-Divinity 3 Dragon Knight Saga.
-Prototype Remake.
Any of those would be good :v
I feel you, OP. But the good thing about growing up is you get an adult job and means you have adult money to spend on Steam games, like I did :). Steam will still have a Summer Sale next year and the years to come.
You youngsters have it easy with the steamy sales and whatnot, back in mah days, we went to the games store and all games were 50$ , and we chose one based on the cover and the micro-screenshots on the back, and we prayed that it was good enough. 'coz we didn't have the money to buy them fancy magazines. And mostly it was shit, but we played for hours and hours with that shit, because we bought that shit.
You may hate this behavior now, however having self control and someone telling you no is best lesson to learn.
In this modern age a parent helping with impulse control is best lesson you can get
If it makes you feel better, I'm a full-grown adult with a fairly decent job, my own money, and can spend it how I choose. I still don't have money for games. If I'm lucky, I get 1 cheap nostalgia game from when I was a kid per year.
This year's game was assasins Creed Ezio Saga on switch for 15 bucks.
I missed the days when Valve would do something/anything to make the sale interesting. They did those weird quizzes, mini games and lot of other things. You might find these stuff to be pointless but it gave the sales some sense of identity.
We remember those sales based on the events they had like the grand prix, choose your adventure, monster slayer etc. We got various rewards like a steam profile theme and various other stuff.
Now it’s just a compilation of steam weekly deals all rounded up. Valve doesn’t have to try to get sales but it’s like they have lost the drive to make things interesting.
We got future impulsive buyer here lol. I once was in that phase, later when i got the chance to provide for myself, i got so impulsive that i spent 300$ a month for games. It stopped when covid happened, and it started again when i got myself a steam deck
Ask your parents to sign you up for an Xbox subscription on your PC, if possible, only 17 CAD per month or on G2A, you can buy 3 months for 37 CAD and + 1 month as a gift and you can play a bunch of games and it’s cheaper than buying games for 70 $.
My parents don't support me buying games I just save up myself, tho I can relate to how you feel since I got through that before.
Realistically, cash is close to outmoded now, so you kinda sorta do need a card or some sort to be able to use money at all for the most part lol.
Ah close, we must be long-lost cousins then! haha, mine don't think of a scam, but used to(for 2+ years i asked for money, for games so now they trust it fully just dont like wasting money on it but still do). They just prefer me to spend the money on something better like clothes, but it's pointless when they provide me with everything like what else am i supposed to spend my money on
You guys are getting allowance? How old are you
Even as a kid my parents never gave me allowance lol.
Me too, I have some games I bought on the spring sale like It Takes Two and other games, I haven't played them yet cause I don't have anyone to play them with, or, cause my laptop can't handle them
Why did you buy it then? Lol
Cause there was a sale, and I thought maybe my dad will allow me to play it with my sis on his pc
What is the games do you want to buy ?
Spore, Terraria, The Witcher 3, Outlast, Assetto Corsa, Frost Punk, Doom, Firewatch, Outlast 2, Bloons TD 6, Halo collection, Star Wars Jedi Fallen order. These are all in my wish list for later when I can buy them
Pick one and I gift you in Steam if you want. I was in your situation and I know what you feel. Send me in private your steam ID if you want :)
Damn, praise you. Very wholesome

Ye a lot of people helped me out today and I hope I'll do the same one day too. Literally almost all the games from my wishlist were gifted by a couple of amazing people from here
I could gift you one too if you want :D
Thank you, but I already got all the games from the wishlist, people are really good on this sub
wow, did everyone gift you the games?
Ye, one gifted me half of my wishlist
It turns out not every gamer is an asshole with anger issues as some media portray us :D
wow u got lucky af
If you find something you fancy you can always text me as long as the sale is up
Alright, thanks for the offer, you're the best
OP I’ll donate a second, DM if interested. I think a lot of us gamers remember those days, I know I do. I’m fortunate enough now to afford what I like but the struggle days were real.
Not all heroes wear capes, some wear upvotes
If you were to wear an upvote, it would kinda look like a cape... Or a coat, kinda...?
Ur legend
Such a cool move bro. Well done bringing joy. Amazing.
God bless!
You rock 👌✌️
What a chad. And they say god doesn't exist.
Outlast, FrostPunk, Bloons TD 6 and Fallen Order are all games I got for free on Epic or GOG. As a poor man you need to get games wherever you can.
Ik, I always get the freebies on epic
r/freegamefindings
I would like to join in that as well. Dm me if you want another game
Thanks, but I already got all the games from the wishlist, people are really good
Damn that fast, well enjoy your new games
This is wholesome. I was planning on gifting you some of the games on your wishlist myself, until I scrolled down a bit further. Have a great day, dude!
Ive got a few change left to spare as it's the end of the month. I can buy you one as well. Which country are you from? Cause I believe we can't gift games between certain countries on Steam.
I'm from Moldova and I think you can gift games from other countries. MqStark I think is from France and he gifted me a game.
Alright. DM me your Steam profile. Lemme add you as a friend.
What game did you get?
Bloons TD 6 and Terraria
DM me your steam profile as well - I can get you one game
Omg, thanks
pm me as well
PM me brother, I can buy you one as well
Pm me as well
Dude, where are you from?
Moldova
Maybe one day you'll move out with a job and their opinion won't matter.
I don't care what other people think, I'm too confident for that.
I'll get you one. Send me your steam account.
Thanks man, but I already got all of them lol. People are really wholesome here
No worries. Have fun, mate!
Thanks
I’ve had Halo Collection on my wishlist forever and always think I’ll pull the trigger next sale and I never do lol
Maybe someone on this post will gift it to you like they did to me, good luck
I can gift it to you if you still want. Just pm me your steam name.
Happy to see you get them all!
Think you dropped this 👑
you literally fell for the most obvious begging post
OP found a gifting games glitch 💀
I didn't even try to do that, I was just goofing around with a meme maker and scrolled Reddit and saw a post with a cart with 50 games in it and thought of making this meme
Not accusing you of anything lol just saying you found a glitch- on purpose or not. Have fun gaming! I was in your position once.
Thanks, this day is one of the best ones
Darn here I am thorn between which games to take out of my cart, when I should've been (not)begging on r/steam :(
Time to get a job my dude, it kinda sucks working when you're younger but when that first paycheck hits and you don't yet have to pay rent or bills or really any major expense it's a great feeling. My first job was McDonald's, and I had 10k saved up after about a year and a half.
I already applied for some jobs, I'm waiting for their response
I can relate. I've already applied for almost 20 stores with no responses.
🏴☠️Arr me harties
Mhm, if I only had a good laptop or PC too

Woah, I had the same laptop too before. Is it an Asus laptop by any chance?
Nah, its a Dell Vostro
Weird, same specs
ok, what else, gta Vice city / San Andreas?
Skyrim worked with my potato laptop way back. Survived college by staying in Winterhold.
Played on a crappy laptop before, just download PS emulator and enjoy the greats of the past till you have enough to spend on your own.
Your PC can definetly play Deus Ex (the original), I highly recommend it
Same. I spend around 20€ per year on games, finished nearly every game I have(exept SMB) and I still get called out for trying to use those early euros on celeste and Hades because even though it's anniversary cash, it's "way too much for a game" to my father

Wow, POS parent.
It's ok. Once you're an adult you can buy all the games you want but you won't have any time to play them!
why are ppl falling and rewarding a blatant begging post, you guys are doomed
It's even funnier when you see the "broke" lad is planning to buy a VR Headset, which is clearly a cheap piece of equipment huh? lmao [https://i.imgur.com/XanzrDi.png](https://i.imgur.com/XanzrDi.png)

Living-in-a-third-world-country-core or stingy-parents-core both is relatable
Am also in the same situation, i feel you bruv
Begging worked
>gift me games Lol here, fixed the title.
You must be in school then
Easy, save for a couple of years to buy that one game with high replayability value. I still play on my old ps2 that I got back in 2009. I can easily get any game online on it. I also have a very expensive pc and still think my ps2 gives more fun.
I se your PS2 nostalgia and raise you PCSX2. Play your PS2 games in 4k or something idk
OP I found this list of free games today here on Reddit. Probably you have them all or not but still https://www.reddit.com/r/Steam/s/gtpkCLQGeK
Bro out here panhandling lol
I asked my dad to buy me the halo master chief collection as a birthday gift (i knew it was always on sale during summer sale but sale starts about two months after my birthday) and he used a card which he no longer used cos he didnt wanna actually buy it for me... damn, I'm sorry, hope you're gonna recover
Me having money but still not being able to buy because the conversion rates to USD here are a nightmare 😥😭
There two sides. I want only one game that cost much and cant afford it so maybe that a good save lol
Haha I'm also in the same situation brother😂 Only option to play genuine copy is Epic Freebies
Emulate older games then
My parents are/were NOT fans of gaming. Growing up I was allowed PC games only - and I had to pay for them. So I basically had only The Sims or online games for years. I genuinely don't give a shit about the plights of children and I wish you didn't post in this sub.
This dude trying so hard to have someone on Reddit gift him a game😂
Same and also there's no place that sells gift in my country, so I got a job just to secretly be Spongenob.
I have it the same. Wanted to buy myself something for Warhammer 3 or maybe Cyberpunk but I'm too poor for now. Man this sucks, I have a similar issue in that I can't get any games during summer sale but for a different reason out of my control, like being in a land occupied by ru so when I tried to buy Binding of Isaac Rebirth or Disco Elysium it just denied the transaction. 😞
Damn, that really sucks, you can try using VPN maybe
That's how we got it, it's sad every time.
You can pirate it if you don't have money. Just pay it once you are in a better financial situation
i secretly spend physical money on giftcards. They are a godsend
Sadly, we don't have gift cards out here
omg that sucks so much, why?
Bro, i feel you, but i know some free games to keep you occupied! Postal 1, Codename Zero, Fortress Forever, Shadow Warrior Classic or you could just pirate
i feel ya lad, 10 dollars in my country is a looooot, like it's 10 percent of some people's salaries
A good PC is probably the grater issue for a lot oft games (witcher 3 is currently at 2,99 not that mich)
The most relatable post for me and for god's sake wasn't able to save even 2$ this time ;-;
I don’t know about where are you from where I’m from you can still buy steam gift cards so that’s the way to do it
If it makes you feel better, i'm in the same boat. I mean i can technically buy a game or two if i want to but noooo, gotta pay for bills, insurance, groceries, and all the other boring stuff and still have some spare liquid money. maybe next sale..
There is some joy in being old (and not poor).
My parents can let me buy any game on Steam and even ready to help me. Recently I passed my exams and got 60$ (5000₽) as a reward and got lot of cool games, mostly SHMUP's (DoDonPachi Resurrection too) and Quake bundle.
This thread is so wholesome ❤️
if only the games i want were on sale ç\_ç
Only game I wanted to get was Elden Ring, but only the base game is on sale, and what sucks is the base game + dlc still costs more than the $80 combo package.
Go to work and buy steam gift cards or just pirate
even my small Brother which doesnt get Feed with Money decided to do newspaper for the neighbourhood and saved Money 2 years to build His own gaming PC
That’s rough buddy. You’ll get to join us in the sales someday, I honestly didn’t start using Steam until I was an adult and had my own cash to spend. It has been a lovely investment.
Too many bills at the moment. Hopefully, I can snag a few games off my wishlist when I get paid next week
Downside of digital games I guess. Back in my day in a similar situation we’d have to sell our old ones to get new ones (though would always end up regretting it later). For you I guess you’re just gonna have to sell some blood or something 😂
Get a job little homie
So i'm actually the friend who made his pfp and I absolutely thank the guy who gifted the games to him, he literally woke me up so happy! Thank you all!
Hey, what's up?
My mom said she Would maybe give 50 dollars MAYBE she said
If I buy a game over three dollars. My brain will get used to it and make it harder to save up money

There's a solution, but I am not going to say it
Don't worry, att some point you will have the money to buy lots of games! - - - - - But no time to play.
Luckily my birthday is in the middle of the summer sale so my parents will allow me to buy games
what game you want homie? if it's really cheap rn I might consider gifting it because I've been there too. best to get a decent job though because then you can buy a shit ton of games from the summer sale. like im getting $360 worth of games for only $61 when I get paid
Mhm, the season sales are the best. I already applied for some jobs and am waiting for a response. As for the gifting, there's no need, I already got a lot of games from a bunch of people here and am really thankful for that, I also appreciate your kindness!! I will try to do the same thing y'all are doing rn
Youre gonna have a whole another problem in few years. I dont even want to know how much money i have spent on games i have never even installed
Honestly... i looked at the prices and said nah... For people in the west (well, to the west of me): Imagine you had to pay 200 $/Euros for a **discounted** game. Fuck this shit, i'm out.
I have a couple friends who is in this exact situation. “Oh look, (x) is on sale again, ya have the funds?” “Take a guess” “Nuh-uh?” “Nuh-uh”
get a job challenge
Man, i want some games from my wishlist too, here they are: -Half-Life 3. -Neverwinter Nights 3. -Dungeon Siege 1 Remaster. -Dungeon Siege 2 Remaster. -Sacred Gold Edition Remastered. -Torchlight 1 Remaster. -Torchlight 2 Remaster. -Torchlight 4. -Alpha Protocol Remake. -Arx Fatalis Remake. -Borderlands 2 Remaster. -Divinity 3 Dragon Knight Saga. -Prototype Remake. Any of those would be good :v
Womp womp
I feel you, OP. But the good thing about growing up is you get an adult job and means you have adult money to spend on Steam games, like I did :). Steam will still have a Summer Sale next year and the years to come.
Get yourself one good game and you will have more entertainment than the rest of us anyways.
get a job
Get a job then
The only game I was considering buying isn't on sale... Soo...
Me too. I just want black ops 2 with the DLC’s ☹️☹️☹️ but I’m an adult so can’t ask my parents to buy me a game from steam lol
Google and MS rewards and multiple survey apps can help fund gaming easily
I'm an Adult and can't even buy games ...
Ask your parents to sign you up for an Xbox subscription on your PC, if possible, only 17 CAD per month or on G2A, you can buy 3 months for 37 CAD and + 1 month as a gift and you can play a bunch of games and it’s cheaper than buying games for 70 $.
