For sure you should get a Steam Deck, it’s got all the benefits of PCs as well as being the dream device (imo) and portable, whereas an entry level PC would just be largely worse than your Xbox whilst serving a similar purpose.

Well...Valve is not in the public market to be able to buy shares, so you can't invest in them...but you can buy shres with Dell or ASUS or Lenovo or Apple...

Bro

Covid_19-1

Oh...I meant to say "buy shares"... I suppose I shouldn't be reddit-surfing when I'm tired and sleepy...haha

gaker19

Well yeah this person was asking whether or not to buy a Steam Deck, not whether or not to buy Valve shares

Covid_19-1

I understood what he/she meant. I didn't feel like ignoring a teachable moment...in my own way of teaching

Sarynnus

I’ve got an Xbox Series X, a gaming PC and a steam deck. The Steam Deck is used 90% of the time. Can’t beat convenience, portability and comfort.

frohood

it seems that Steam Deck is the best option

FOMOforRomo

You are asking the Steam Deck subreddit. Maybe control for some bias here lol.

I am very happy with my Steam Deck, it's absolutely a marvel. BUT: I will say that not all games are great to play on the deck for me personally. Some games I will only play on my gaming PC. I bought the Deck to have a console experience with those games that are just better with a controller. But I already had a mid-range gaming PC before I bought my Deck. That said: you can just connect a mouse and keyboard to the Deck, so you can basically play every PC game on it, no matter the controls. Seriously, this thing can do almost everything you want it to. I'd say if you want to play "console games" on your x box and want a PC to mainly play "PC games" (i.e. games that are highly dependent on mouse and keyboard controls), then get yourself a PC. Otherwise, go for the Deck.

frohood

my goal is to play pc games and the exclusive playstation that after a few years can be played on pc

LimeyOtoko

A lot of those will work on the Steam Deck, although whether the performance will be acceptable is up to you Valve says Horizon Forbidden West isn’t good enough performance wise, and you won’t be able to play Ghost of Tsushima’s multiplayer because of the way they’ve implemented PSN

jackspeaks

You should get whatever you’ll actually use

Buchlinger

A Steam Deck will never compete with a dedicated gaming computer. A gaming computer will never compete with the price to performance ratio of a Steam Deck in combination with its multi purpose usability. The main factor of the Steam Deck is the portability and the ability to play anywhere and anytime.

Middle_Influence_610

The steam deck if you only want to play games or a pc if you also need something for work. The deck is capable of work stuff but a standalone pc is much better for it and will be more powerful.
