Oddly enough, the boards recommend the first thing you should do when a CE and/or other lights come on for no apparent reason is confirm your gas cap is properly seated. If that’s the issue you’ll need to drive it a bit before the lights‘ll go out again.

tea_likes_tea

I saw something about that online and I made sure it was on correctly earlier today

MayBeMilo

Right on. Like others have said swing by an auto parts store and ask them to scan it or borrow a scanner to pull the codes yourself. Different vehicle, same fault lights, I believe - the discussion was interesting reading: https://www.reddit.com/r/SubaruForester/s/ifeqs8DBij

TheMightyPushmataha

Something done throwed a code

odanhammer

if its your abs , traction control , and hill assist usually means theres a faulty sensor , its located under the steering wheel, takes maybe 15 minutes to fix, part is about 100 bucks. does the fault only happen when you start the car? does or happen randomly?

tea_likes_tea

It comes on when the car is started and stays on, it started yesterday while I was driving down a hill

odanhammer

if you restart your car, can you get the errors to go away? sounds like the break pedal sensor is bad, which is rather common. easy fix, should be a cheap fix.

zstouffer

Ran into this issue when I first got my 2014. It was this exact sensor and it was an easy change out, but there ended up being a recall on this part. I had all the lights come on and would have trouble shifting from park

TaylorMutts

With Subarus, it's not uncommon for multiple warning lights if the battery is near the end of its life. These batteries last 3-5 years. If yours is original. I suspect that is the cause.

Get an OBD-2 code scanner online for $20 and let us know what codes you see. Or go to a local auto store and ask nicely to scan the codes. I can't help without knowing what the code is

tea_likes_tea

I think my dad has one I’ll have to look around and if not I’ll order one

SantaBaby22

You can go to any Advanced Auto part store and use theirs for free. Idk if other auto part store do that, but I know 100% Advanced does. They’re pretty easy to use too.

Mine threw a P0019 code. Crankshaft Position-Camshaft Position Correlation-Bank 2 Sensor B. Subaru wants to tear it apart cause an oil flush didn’t reset the code. They claim it’s sludge buildup. Only has 55k miles. What do yo think it is?

Advanced-Somewhere83

What did Subaru end up doing? Fixed? My ‘18 crosstrek just popped up with P0019

elacher33

Yup. Fixed mine by clearing the learned values. Good to go.

elacher33

Let me clarify, I fixed it myself with a computer. I believe there is a YouTube vid on it. The dealer wanted to tear down to see if there was sludge buildup and wouldn’t be covered. I changed the learned values and it never threw a code again.

Advanced-Somewhere83

Gotcha, do you remember what you did for the ECM reset? I tried the method to disconnect the negative battery cable for 30 min yesterday but the CEL just came on again today

Year? Start with cheap stuff. What's the maintenance history on your vehicle? Did you go long intervals between oil changes? If not, I'd replace vvt solenoids. But you should do more diagnosis before replacing parts. If the engine jumped timing, then that's a serious concern which would warrant an engine tear down. They might have the diagnostic tools for that. Or could just be a bad sensor. Maybe you have too much carbon buildup. Replace the oil filter as well. And spark plugs and engine air filter.

elacher33

It’s a 2019. Maintenance intervals were within the requirement. They said the variables could be off. They told me if there’s sludge buildup then warranty won’t cover the tear down.

4N8NDW

If you did the maintenance within the time period then you should be covered by warranty if you're still within the time frame.

HungryPundah

You can go to autozone and they'll hand you a code reader to check your codes for free. Most likely, this is going to be a bad sensor, battery, fuse, or wiring. If your car feels fine to drive, it's most likely something dumb like that.

MEGASTIKKY

Find someone or a place with a code reader.

Beach_bum8

Could be your service 4 wheel drive light.

UnkleRinkus

The right light normally comes on when you push/select a similarly labeled button, or choose it in the dash menu, the left one (ABS, I believe) may be the same, I've just never hit that one. Find the button, does that turn it off?

Dipsy30

Had this happen once on a road trip and it ended up being the brake switch of all things. Cheap part and fairly easy to change if one’s flexible enough

tea_likes_tea

Update: now only the check engine light is on and still haven’t heard back from my dealership, and a code scanner coming in tomorrow

PaleontologistClear4

Used to be a Subaru service advisor, as others have mentioned, check your gas cap.
