Tesla has been tweaking the algorithm for choosing between regenerative and physical braking based on how the pedals are pumped for a while, and there have been other reports of brakes not engaging in the past even though pressing the brakes should generally engage the physical brakes.
In addition to promising software updates, Tesla has also used a strategy of accussing people who talk about brake failures of being Tesla stock short sellers, which is one way of dismissing critics i guess
> Tesla has also used a strategy of accussing people who talk about brake failures of being Tesla stock short sellers
That's what the Tesla stan subs do as well, especially TeslaMotors and ElonMusk. They also pull the trump card and bitch that all criticism is fake news FUD out to get their infallible god-emperor
It's become incredibly irritating how the word FUD permeates the internet since it's so easily used to dismiss legitimate criticism (see finance subs/crypto/AI). At this point, it's overused to the point I'm surprised it's meaningful or effective at convincing people away from a negative outlook. It seemed originally was limited to hype circles but I'm increasingly seeing it outside those contexts.
What, like _x_-by-wire, including brake-, drive-, and fly-? Those have existed for decades
Tesla's problem is that they refuse to follow the time-tested adage of "don't test shit in prod" along with its corollary "don't deploy something until you're sure it won't kill your customers"

If Tesla isn't following that then it is downright bizarre.
Releasing a faulty product and then blaming the customer when it goes wrong is way too common now. Looks like Elon "Why would you expect the brakes to stop your car?" Musk can join the ranks of Todd "upgrade your computer so we don't have to optimise the game" Howard and the eternal Steve "you're holding it wrong" Jobs.
On a sidenote, I hate that the mentality of using the public as beta testers already made it to cars. That and having everything through a touchscreen when it's been proven billions of times that using phones while driving is dangerous... wait that was Tesla as well.
That fair regarding Howard, but Jobs I can't say I'm so sure (not being able to get a signal would potentially be a personal risk for many, even back in 2010).
Yeah I was thinking pressing the brakes past a certain point should mechanically override whatever the software threads are doing but I'm not a truckologist nor in possession of a drivers licence so I left that commentary out of my post.

I dunno about the truck but the other Teslas don't have blended brakes. Pressing the brake actuates the friction brakes. The regen is controlled by the accelerator (release).

No, shit talk them all you want, just reserve the moniker for those who actually deserve it, okay? I just have beef with redditors automatically calling everyone to the right of them a nazi and treating the word as more of a slur rather than a descriptor.
... You're the first one who used the term Nazi here.
The fuck are you on about?
>I just have beef with redditors automatically calling everyone to the right of them a nazi and treating the word as more of a slur rather than a descriptor.
It is a slur. It's meant to be. It's showing severe disdain by drawing a direct parallel or comparison to some of history's greatest villains.
"Nazi" does not need to be a sanctified term in online discourse. This is not your political science dissertation. People are allowed to play fast and loose with words and concepts for effect and rhetorical purposes. Sooner you accept that basic precept of language, the easier a time we'll all have.
Can we please not equate every conservative to a fucking Nazi, please? This is literally what they're accusing us of doing. Not to mention that it's counterproductive and dilutes the actual meaning of the word.
Not really? Did he actually do that? \*googles\* [Apparently, he did](https://www.theverge.com/2024/3/25/24111405/elon-musk-great-replacement-conspiracy-immigration-don-lemon), wow, what an asshole. Sure then, let's call him a nazi, what the hell.
His response to a nazi saying that jews hate white people and want to destroy them was "You have said the actual truth". So yes, I consider Elon a nazi.
Also, kind of hilarious to be all indignant about people calling other people nazis needlessly in a thread where *you brought up nazis first*.
I think the vehicles are stupid pieces of shit but this is absurd. Why the heck would anyone care *this much* about some random person purchasing a crappy truck?
I mean its more than just people purchasing a crappy "truck", its seeing the amount of failures the Cybertrucks has had sometimes failing minutes after being delivered as well as the utter delusion of either people just ignoring said problems for a vehicle that costs 100K with some now calling this a "beta test" that some are proud to be in ,or seeing them get excited for stuff that's always existed in a car like a glove box....or get excited at finally doing truck stuff like hauling 4 bags of soil.
Honestly there's a lot more people can get schadenfreude at seeing the utter failure this "truck" is going through and the people that for some reason still defend it.
People like watching expensive things get destroyed. There are subreddits for more general luxury car accidents. It is less funny if the brakes fail on a 2002 RAV4 that happens to be carrying a Nazi.
People specifically like someone they despise being warned of the consequences, doing it anyway, and then experiencing the consequences. There are a couple of big subs for that. Cybertrucks have been out for a while and at this point if you buy one it's okay to make fun of you
There are communities for hating Elon Musk specifically, which tended to be blends of the above genres of watching expensive things get destroyed and watching people regret ignoring warnings long before cybertrucks.
I mean if the problem is your breaks don't work and your car can take over and can go extreme speeds from full stop pretty fast....... Yeah I sure wonder why people get upset about more being on the road tbh...
Trucks with broken brake systems are a danger to everyone else on the road. Also, the cybertruck is so damn ugly that forcing other people to look at it should be a crime.
Only thing sillier than buying and driving a cybertruck is how absolutely irate redditors get at the thought of them. So many state and city subreddits have posts like “oh yuck there’s a cybertruck in our state” and then the comments are all “oh wow i thought i was the only one who hated it. Did you know it chops your hands off?”
It’s a uniquely stupid truck, but i hate it when redditors all feel right together
I'm sorry what? "sometimes the brakes don't work, oops" (paraphrased) can't not be an actual answer.

Something interesting about this website is that people here get super angry at things that normal people would either laugh off or not care about.
Cybertrucks have been out for a while and at this point if you buy one it's okay to make fun of you There are communities for hating Elon Musk specifically, which tended to be blends of the above genres of watching expensive things get destroyed and watching people regret ignoring warnings long before cybertrucks.
This is reddit. One of the most popular things to do is caring about what other people purchase. Helps them feel better about themselves
Only thing sillier than buying and driving a cybertruck is how absolutely irate redditors get at the thought of them. So many state and city subreddits have posts like “oh yuck there’s a cybertruck in our state” and then the comments are all “oh wow i thought i was the only one who hated it. Did you know it chops your hands off?” It’s a uniquely stupid truck, but i hate it when redditors all feel right together
