Ask your grandmother if she still has her old projector, then you could project them. Most people take them to a store to get digitised, but projecting is cool and fun. I projected my family reels and it was a gateway into all sorts of fun photo projection stuff.

TheGirlPrayer

Thank you! I’ll ask her tonight, but in the meantime could you point me towards a projector that could work with these so I could mention the price point to her?

First make sure they are all Super 8 and that you haven’t got a mix with regular 8 too. I would go for an Eumig, not sure where you are in the world but here in Europe they’re quite easy to find on eBay

lots of thrift stores have super 8 & 8mm projectors for cheap. Just test to make sure the take up reel spins and the lamp works and you should be good

Does your library have a transfer device? My public library bought a Wolverine and they check it out to anyone with a library card. Of course, nobody working there has any idea of how to use it, and they make you sign a waiver that they're not responsible for any damage it may cause to films.

TheGirlPrayer

We don’t, but I’m the IT so that’s one of the reasons why I’m looking into it so we can look for options for the public to use.

Wheels2fun

Is this a serious question?

TheGirlPrayer

That’s kind of a dickish way to answer someone who knows nothing about film.
