Same here. Last year I was watching Batwomen, The Flash, Stargirl, Kung Fu, Charmed, Naomi, The 4400, and S&L. I am done with the CW. Once Kung Fu, S&L, and The Flash are over.....I am out!

In fact, that article specifically stated that they hoped to keep Walker and S&L, so in context, S&L is the most safe of all the CW shows, even if it is not entirely safe.
I don't have any, but even i felt it. The worst thing is that i started watching it i think last Saturday or something, i was halfway through s3 when the notification came and i just felt sad after that.
It's one thing to cancel a show, but it's very different/ unfair to cancel a show while it's half way airing and the other half is already filmed.
I know that's my point. They probably finished filming s3 and then they got canceled, meaning that they never had the chance to write their last season (s3) as a last season. They wrote a story for s3 and probably started building arcs for s4 but then got canceled after they finished filming.
Sometimes they get informed while writing their last season and then they can make adjustments to how they want to end the story, but SG got canceled mid season while the rest is filmed already, i hope they knew way before, but from qhat we have seen so far, they were obviously building up stories for other seasons

Yeah got everything to do with it... would you try to hold onto a show, if you - as a TV channel executive - know you'll at best get one season out of it? The answer is no. Don't be surprised if the show goes into its first hiatus and then never returns.
The show in it's current form is expensive to produce and a return of investment is uncertain. A budget cut would result in even greater decline in it's already dwindling quality and most likely kill the remaining buzz.

Agents of Shield was a unique level of fail though. 7 seasons of lore nixed from the MCU where at least the first 5 tried incredibly hard to compliment the movies, and the sixth would have complimented the next phase.
Season 7 was a thinly disguised Legends of Tomorrow ripoff but that seemed retaliatory for being abandoned.
Superman and Lois didn't try to add anything to the Arrowverse they trolled it. If all THAT work was mixed by the studio, then S&L is going down.

I really hope that Season 3 turns things around and gets back to the quality of Season 1. If they do that I think it will certainly be renewed... but all that remains to be seen.
Unfortunately I don’t think I has much to do with quality. Sure, it needs to keep viewers. But the new network seems most fixated on cost and profit. They could write the best season of all time and we could all love it— but if the execs determine it’s not profitable, that doesn’t matter.
Yeah. Obviously improving it won’t hurt. And I truly hope they’re making changes from last year. But unless they totally change direction and throw it off the rails, I’m sure viewership will be somewhat consistent.

Yeah, casual viewers don’t keep up with that sort of thing. As someone who follows it closely and knew about the breaks, I was always amused to see the “No episode this week!? Did this show get cancelled” posts on Facebook, etc.

I don’t even know if they need to slash costs— they basically just need to make a case for its existence, and for its place in the newly reimagined cw. I think until they have a complete grasp on what this Channel will be, exactly, we won’t know for sure what the future of the show will be. But like bookgirlboston I think what we’ve seen so far is pretty promising.
If you like it, and can afford to do so, make sure to buy the season on either physical media or apple/Amazon. I was part of the campaign to bring back Family Guy. Moving product is all these studios care about.
I still give S&L a chance of being renewed for S4 on the Nexstar-owned CW, though l wouldn't be surprised it'll be forced to cut production costs with plots focusing more on drama instead of superhero action and lower quality FX for scenes that do require superpowers.

Well seeing as DC is it's own entity now, James Gunn could make the case that the Superman show is successful enough to keep alive on HBO Max. Depending on the circumstances.
Discovery Media is still the top boss over Gunn and the DC IP. does DC have the money to fund a HBO Max series? they ended up splitting stargirl with CW and shifted it to CW as the first run location so what is HBO Max willing to fund these days?

I've feel like CW has been trying to kick that show since it began. But it was too popular with the fans so they just kept postponing it, hoping that people will forget about it, and move on to another show. Does anyone else get that feeling, and if so, why do you think they would do that?

I was genuinely shocked they picked up that Gotham Knights show since it seemed they wanted to end their DC TV stuff. I guess Batman and Superman are big enough to give them some leeway, but any other DC character is out of luck.

The last season stunk. They're looking to move in a new direction. The series isn't like season 1 Arrow where it has the draw and charm needed to spearhead a project.
It feels like a few years ago when Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Punisher, Luke Cage and Iron Fist were all cancelled. Now we are supposedly witnessing Flash, Stargirl, Superman and Lois, Titans and Doom Patrol getting cancelled.

I actually don’t think this is too surprising just a little. The DC shows on CW have been getting cancelled just simply do to the merger and just with the move to NexStar. I would hope it could go to a S4 but would be both surprised and not surprised. Honestly I can’t even see Gotham Knights lasting longer than 1 season not just cause of the merger but also that the plot to it looks really silly. If S3 ends up being the last I would maybe be sad if this season turns itself around from S2 but not sad if S3 fails. But would mainly be sad to see Ty & Bitsie no longer working together, those 2 have awesome chemistry.

They actually filmed two endings because things were uncertain. So thankfully it should end with a nice wrap up and no cliffhangers.

Nothing is certain with DC right now. If they can toss a movie that's already gone through filming, nothing is safe.
