I had 298 shares in Book. I submitted a sale for the fractional plan. It is awaiting settlement. I signed in a few times today. All of sudden I've noticed I now only have 297 book. WTF. The plan now shows 1.xxxxx shares. So I check pending transactions. The fractional sale is still pending. So I checked the transaction history. The most recent transaction is called Plan Deposit and lists 1 share moved from book to plan. Wtf. I never authorized that. I didn't get finger anything. Will call tomorrow.....

*The best solution* \- buy more - 5 bucks worth even - but instead of selecting 'Existing Account' - select 'New Account'. Once the new account is setup, transfer 1 share plus fractional to new account. Once the transfer is complete, transfer **all** whole shares to old account.
This new account is best for buying thanks to the inevitable fractional share. The old account is obviously the 'Pure Book' holding account.
I think we might need more confirmation that this truly āseparatesā your accounts, because many of us already have multiple accounts and Iām pretty sure the criteria is that if any of your accounts are enrolled in plan, it puts the total shares of all your accounts as āoperationalā for the DTC.

I used to say that the Book / Plan difference didn't really matter, that the switch was getting us to sell all the fractionals, and it would stop auto-buys. I said sell the fractional as the first thing - 4.7% of $84 billion is a lot of Twinkies.
But I trust the DD.
Now I'm asking for a guide to book the 0.1xxx4 (seriosuly, 5 decimal places - I own FOUR 100,000ths of a share) plan share(s?) I have, and I can't find one.
CS estimated that I would get $0.00 after fees for selling, by the way.
I don't have a plan to terminate. Literally, there's no Terminate button, just the other three. I booked my plan shares after hours, a year ago, and stopped the 0.1xxxx share sale, and DRSed from Fidelity for everything since.
I'll try a single 2+ share buy and see what happens, I guess...

You need to set up a new recurring purchase plan (for more than a few days out), wait a day, then set up a single purchase, and the single purchase will cancel the recurring purchase plan. After the shares have settled (with new, different fractional amounts), you can book the plan shares with CS customer service, EXPLICITLY requesting them to sell any remaining fractionals. The last part you can't do online yourself, you NEED customer service assistance.
The way to make two accounts is easy and I did it by mistake. I originally started the account by buying directly through computershare, that was my āplanā account and then when I transferred all my shares from fidelity I had a book account. Turns out I had about 27.5692 shares in plan and xxxx in book. So I terminated the plan, 27 got booked and the .5692 remained in plan and got sold. I then moved another 200 shares to book from fidelity. I know have enough money in my fidelity account (after raiding my savings) to buy 200 more (via iex) which I plan to do as soon as whatever price fuckery happens chills out. I imagine creating the perception that our current collective actions are causing the price to dip is important. I will then move them in 100 lots so that it helps price discovery. This is just me, you do you.

Iām not going to give you financial advice. But in light of one of the top posts on the sub today, Iāll tell you what I do.
I donāt like the idea of buying through Computershare. Not for any ethical reason, but because when I decide to buy, I want a certain number of whole shares and I want to know the price when I purchase them.
The uncertainty of being lumped in with bulk buys only makes sense if you are in an ACTUAL Employee Stock Purchase Plan. This is because those purchases usually involve a discount that offsets any bullshit like the runup the poster called out.
But as a normie retail investor, I prefer to use my broker, who happens to be Fidelity. Order execution is almost instant, and even if I am willing to pay more than the current strike I can set a limit order to make sure I donāt get gouged by the ~~assholes~~ algorithms timing the market.
Am I somehow facilitating Ken and his antics by doing so? Maybe - who knows what the fuck is going on behind the scenes. I used to think a ācashā account was safe, but now I know better. It doesnāt matter, though, because as soon as the order settles (usually 3 days) I DRS that shit and remove it from Fidelityās pool of shares.
In this way, I get a defined price at a time of my choosing, while also taking Fidelity up on their offer to hand me real shares for whatever fake shit they bought on my behalf. Meanwhile, I donāt have to worry about the status of my Computershare account because with a direct transfer of whole shares, the account stays in a āBookā status.
Again, NFA. Iām just telling you how I roll.
Whatās the latest with fidelity on DRSing - do they still allow their online reps to do it or do people need to call? A lot of people will have this question.
Iām sorry, I just HAVE to add that if you route your order through IEX, something Fidelity can do, it makes it so your trade does hit the lit exchange. One key way to make sure youāre *not* facilitating Ken and his antics.
I understand your point regarding IEX. Iāve been using Vanguard for a long time. When MOASS hits, for shares I intend to sell at stupid prices, Iāve made a calculated bet that the odds of getting Fucked by Vanguard are less than Fudelity.

I buy through Vanguard when I think I can scoop a quick dip that Computershare batch buys will probably miss. But I also know that odd lot buys donāt contribute to price development. The algorithms are still in control but that doesnāt mean our choices donāt matter.

if you own fractionals then your ENTIRE account is open to be used by the DTCC as a locate for short sellers

I booked my plan shares after hours, a year ago, and stopped the 0.1xxxx share sale, and DRSed from Fidelity for everything since. I'll try a single 2+ share buy and see what happens, I guess... Update: Here be the deets, yo. == You need to set up a new recurring purchase plan (for more than a few days out), wait a day, then set up a single purchase, and the single purchase will cancel the recurring purchase plan. After the shares have settled (with new, different fractional amounts), you can book the plan shares with CS customer service, EXPLICITLY requesting them to sell any remaining fractionals. The last part you can't do online yourself, you NEED customer service assistance.
The way to make two accounts is easy and I did it by mistake. I originally started the account by buying directly through computershare, that was my āplanā account and then when I transferred all my shares from fidelity I had a book account. Turns out I had about 27.5692 shares in plan and xxxx in book. So I terminated the plan, 27 got booked and the .5692 remained in plan and got sold. I then moved another 200 shares to book from fidelity. I know have enough money in my fidelity account (after raiding my savings) to buy 200 more (via iex) which I plan to do as soon as whatever price fuckery happens chills out. I imagine creating the perception that our current collective actions are causing the price to dip is important. I will then move them in 100 lots so that it helps price discovery. This is just me, you do you.

Iām not interested in options (but I think you know that already). I AM interested in sub messaging that correspond to algorithmic patterns. I donāt bet. Iām long GME. But if I did, Iād wager theyāre contrary to ape interests.
Iām not going to give you financial advice. But in light of one of the top posts on the sub today, Iāll tell you what I do. I donāt like the idea of buying through Computershare. Not for any ethical reason, but because when I decide to buy, I want a certain number of whole shares and I want to know the price when I purchase them. The uncertainty of being lumped in with bulk buys only makes sense if you are in an ACTUAL Employee Stock Purchase Plan. This is because those purchases usually involve a discount that offsets any bullshit like the runup the poster called out. But as a normie retail investor, I prefer to use my broker, who happens to be Fidelity. Order execution is almost instant, and even if I am willing to pay more than the current strike I can set a limit order to make sure I donāt get gouged by the ~~assholes~~ algorithms timing the market. Am I somehow facilitating Ken and his antics by doing so? Maybe - who knows what the fuck is going on behind the scenes. I used to think a ācashā account was safe, but now I know better. It doesnāt matter, though, because as soon as the order settles (usually 3 days) I DRS that shit and remove it from Fidelityās pool of shares. In this way, I get a defined price at a time of my choosing, while also taking Fidelity up on their offer to hand me real shares for whatever fake shit they bought on my behalf. Meanwhile, I donāt have to worry about the status of my Computershare account because with a direct transfer of whole shares, the account stays in a āBookā status. Again, NFA. Iām just telling you how I roll.
Whatās the latest with fidelity on DRSing - do they still allow their online reps to do it or do people need to call? A lot of people will have this question.
I always call, but Iām old and donāt trust them to do it right through chat.
Iām sorry, I just HAVE to add that if you route your order through IEX, something Fidelity can do, it makes it so your trade does hit the lit exchange. One key way to make sure youāre *not* facilitating Ken and his antics.
I understand your point regarding IEX. Iāve been using Vanguard for a long time. When MOASS hits, for shares I intend to sell at stupid prices, Iāve made a calculated bet that the odds of getting Fucked by Vanguard are less than Fudelity. Edit: oops sorry, thought u were taking to me.
I buy through Vanguard when I think I can scoop a quick dip that Computershare batch buys will probably miss. But I also know that odd lot buys donāt contribute to price development. The algorithms are still in control but that doesnāt mean our choices donāt matter.
