Just throwing this out there - it's easy for everyone to claim "ahhh fuckery" "Ryan's master plan" yadda yadda but anyone who works in the field of IT knows this for a fact - these things do happen in the world of production software. Especially a small company like Computershare without an endless engineering department will not be able to thoroughly test their applications beyond all possible scenarios - in this case, obscene amounts of attendance.
These things do happen and if they aren't already onboarded to some cloud-based autoscaling solution, it can take many engineering cycles to upgrade the application to meet demand. Most software isn't developed to scale like that.
