Yeah I couldn't understand that part. But I have to admit, I did LOL briefly the 2nd time he jumped in. I was like, "Really now, Buffy? Yo ass almost drowned and you jump in again 5 secs later?"
I think the dog's neck is too short for it to be able to look down and he couldn't see the pool. No idea. It's sad that people created these messed up dogs.
Legit! Whole "purebred" LIST is Island of Dr Moreau HORROR show.. I just witnessed a liter of frenchies: two died from being mutants that can't bresthe!
I’m not against purebreds in general, but frenchies break my heart. They end up needing so many surgeries on their nose and joints and from what I read they need to be artificially inseminated and puppies have to be delivered via cesarean. Come on. They’re adorable but enough is enough.
When I was at university I was taking basic English comp 1 during my first semester. I was a bit older because I did a stint in the military before college. 26 years, rest of the class was probably 18.
Anyway we had to make a persuasive poster for some reason. I decided to do mine over purebred dogs. The large caption on the top of the poster was "PUREBRED IS INBRED" - and then some clip art of dogs mating with quintessential "Kentucky inbred redneck" human faces poorly cropped on top of the dogs faces. And other brash, over the top, "persuasive" phrases. Nothing too extreme or graphic - I was only trying to persuade after all.
The day it was due I found out we had to present it to the class. Which I didn't expect. A detail I likely overlooked. Had I known the poster would have been way different.
So anyway I presented it to a fairly large class of wide eyed and likely disgusted teenagers. The professor wouldn't make eye contact with me during the presentation. The awkwardness was palpable in the air. It was pretty humiliating.
After class one of the students gave me her number and said we should hang out sometime which only added to the strangeness.
I got a B on the assignment.
But still one of my top 5 most embarrassing moments. Probably top 3.
Turns out, when you jump in the water, there is a doggo-lifter-outer-person who gets you when it's time to breathe! So I'm going back in, that was great!
We were travelling around India a few years back. Came to a waterfall, you could jump into it from like 10 feet up. We jump, it's all good fun. Indian guy behind us hesitates, then jumps while screaming "I CAN'T SWIM!" in the air. He's flailing around and we have to pull him up. He thanks us with his life a hundred times, then jumps in again I was like bruh
I don't like it, but that too is natural selection sometimes. Even if they are pets.
Don't get me wrong, I love doggos, but they don't always have the brain cell available.
I had a stafordshire terrier that used to zoom into the water and swim after the swans. He was never fast enough to get close so they just calmly circled around for a little while lol
Pitbulls absolutely can swim, but some of them hate getting wet and never get very good at it. Most of the
Pugs and most bulldogs definitely don't though.
Bulldogs specifically can’t swim, like it’s not physically possible based on anatomy, deep chested dogs generally don’t do well in water so must bully breeds
These dog breeds have been so artificially inbred that they can barely breathe (yes, really), let alone swim. It’s fucking cruel for people to keep breeding them.
It blows my mind how long it takes people to react to something like this.
When my dad had a minor medical scare, I was the one that was ready to get other people moving. People just freeze, panic or sometimes make a choice to avoid risk themselves.
But these people just weren't prepared to do what they were supposed to be doing.
Because at the end of the day we are just animals, no better than a deer stopping at the sight of a headlight, and just living a normal average life won't teach you how to act in emergency situations, in the end it all comes down to fight, flight or freeze.
It's just weird here because it's just a puppy in a swimming pool learning to swim, nothing unusual about the situation to shock them. Seemed like they were waiting for each other to do something for a minute. Anyway, the pup is OK and hopefully they got things worked out on safety improvements
I get that alot of people see dogs and cats as "family members" or "my baby!" But there's alot that dnt and the fact the dog walked IMMEDIATELY back into the pool and the guys reaction to that tells me that he's in the latter group lol. Guy was like "aint no way u got back in....u can't save stupid!"
The water is literally waist deep, yet that idiot of a woman just stands on the side and yells and shakes her body. Instead of, you know, just going in and saving the dog.
Right?? Yes yes I know “freeze response” but it’s just a small artificial pool of waist high water, the danger to yourself is zero, fucks sake. What about that makes you freeze.
I was expecting the dog be able to surface, I actually don't understand why he couldn't. I think that was maybe the delay waiting for him to just swim out.
There are a couple breeds that just sink; think of the dense stocky ones like bulldogs. This isn't 100 percent for these breeds but it is fairly common.
The ability to swim has just been bred out of some breeds.
This one time my husband, dog, and I were crossing stones over a river and my dog took a wrong step and went directly in the water. It was shallow but very cold and she seemed to just freeze up, standing there in the water staring at us like she didn’t know what to do.
I could see a long line of people hiking toward us, clearly about to cross the river. I didn’t want the crossing to get congested so instead of wasting time encouraging my dog to swim back to us, I just hopped directly in the water, picked her up, and put her back on the rocks to continue crossing.
She still seemed nervous, so I asked my husband to pick her up and carry her the rest of the way. The line of people were coming right up and I wanted to get across before they arrived so there wouldn’t be a foot traffic jam.
Once we got across, we then stood aside and waited for the group of people to pass before we could continue up the trail, and though I stood there politely smiling at everyone - for some reason, several people gave *me* nasty looks and then said to my husband as they passed “aww what a good daddy, did daddy rescue you from the cold water? Ohhh so cold for a swim!” Stuff like that.
I was like…..Ok it’s one thing to assume he’s the one who pulled her out - he’s actively holding her. But I’m the one with soaking wet clothes? And these people had only been yards away when it happened, surely they saw that I was the one who had been in the water? I still don’t understand what the nasty looks were for.
Anyway. That’s my mildly odd, tangentially related dog-in-water story.
To be fair at first I think they just took a moment to see if the dog was able to come up to the surface on his own. But then yeah they took way longer than needed it.
Haha reddit is wild. You see another post, download the video, upload it to another subreddit, take the top comment from the previous post and comment it yourself on your own post. The things you do for internet points..

Broken ice you can kind of assume the dog will need help or will die. In this case its a small swimming pool, im sure most were under the impression the dog could save itself for at least a few seconds.
I'm surprised that the amounts of people on here don't know that the dog can hold their breath pretty long, of course not as long ad human but still, they can hold their breath long enough to retrieve toys from the bottom of that pool. A well trained dog can hold their breath even longer.
Dog was under water for about 16-17 seconds. For sure could have gone seconds longer. Maybe that is why he dove back in to beat his record.
Both dogs had no idea how to swim!
Dang, very sweaty.
Thats at least like 20 meters deep, frozen and from what I can see there is visible sharks, alligators and deadly piranhas swimming in there.
Also to make things worse the sea was angry that day.
Doberman can't swim either, he's upright and panicking.
PSA if your dog paddles flat and can stop and maintain motion voluntarily, he can swim. If your dog points upwards and struggles to gain forward motion he can't swim and is actively trying not to drown.
I don’t understand why it took them so long. My 8 week old puppy fell into the pool at my friend’s house and I immediately jumped in after her because I wasn’t sure she could swim. She was fine and I ruined my phone but I’d rather that than have my dog drown.
WOW I’m blaming the kid with the white shirt and grey pants
I would’ve reacted instantly at that take off my shirt leave phone on chair and jump in
Whole family was watching tho
They took their good ass time to finally rescue the dog..im heated just watching this bullshit..they were just standing around watching for a good while before they finally acted
And the dog just goes right in again i guess he likes to drown
Yeah I couldn't understand that part. But I have to admit, I did LOL briefly the 2nd time he jumped in. I was like, "Really now, Buffy? Yo ass almost drowned and you jump in again 5 secs later?"
Seems like he doesn't get the concept, he seemed real confident that there would be somewhere solid for his paw to land on that last step lol
Ya I laughed at that too. I enjoyed the brief chaos.
I think the dog's neck is too short for it to be able to look down and he couldn't see the pool. No idea. It's sad that people created these messed up dogs.

But did you hang out with her?
Yeah. We're still friends. Never hooked up, though. But all fine. Met one of my best friends through her.
Reminds me of that deer that got freed from a ditch and immediately leapt back in
Turns out, when you jump in the water, there is a doggo-lifter-outer-person who gets you when it's time to breathe! So I'm going back in, that was great!
And the super useful person in sandals right next to the dog just watching it go in again.

Typical small dog energy.
I don't like it, but that too is natural selection sometimes. Even if they are pets. Don't get me wrong, I love doggos, but they don't always have the brain cell available.
It saw the big dog go in, maybe it was just following the parent at that point. Hard to tell with puppies.
Honestly I always believed all dogs can swim. This is weird.
Bulldogs, putbulls and pugs seems to have no swimming ability at all afaik
I had an American bulldog who was 110lbs and he would dive into the lake and swim out like 100 feet and swim back with no issue ever.
I had a stafordshire terrier that used to zoom into the water and swim after the swans. He was never fast enough to get close so they just calmly circled around for a little while lol
Ah ok that changes my perception a bit. Also i just found out pugs can swim too 🤯
Honestly pugs might be the only breed that wouldn’t surprise me if they couldn’t swim lol.
They can barely breathe in air, of course they'd fail miserably with the introduction of water.
Na my buddy has two pitbulls they both are magnificent swimmers and can swim for about 10 minutes at a time before they rest on the ledge it's crazy.
Meanwhile my 200 pound bullmasstiff swam like a champ. These short nose breeds are something else.
Pitbulls absolutely can swim, but some of them hate getting wet and never get very good at it. Most of the Pugs and most bulldogs definitely don't though.
They can barely breathe you want them swimming?
Bulldogs specifically can’t swim, like it’s not physically possible based on anatomy, deep chested dogs generally don’t do well in water so must bully breeds
These dog breeds have been so artificially inbred that they can barely breathe (yes, really), let alone swim. It’s fucking cruel for people to keep breeding them.
It was swimming. Under water.
French Bulldogs are not good swimmers and will probably drown if you don’t rescue them
It looks like it could swim, it just fuckin sank like a rock is the problem. Must be a dense dog..
”OMG My dog is drowning but I don’t want to get wet!”
Bunch of absolute cowards.
It blows my mind how long it takes people to react to something like this. When my dad had a minor medical scare, I was the one that was ready to get other people moving. Bystander effect. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bystander_effect
I hate to think if this would be their same response time should, God forbid, a child is in that same situation.
I get that alot of people see dogs and cats as "family members" or "my baby!" I did wonder if it was that, thnx.
That dog couldn’t even paddle
I wouldn't have that problem, I can get naked in two seconds flat. Just ask my parole officer.

Exactly! The pool wasn’t even deep and there’s no reason why they wouldn’t jump straight in. That’s one of the longest few seconds ever
None of these people should own a pool
To be fair at first I think they just took a moment to see if the dog was able to come up to the surface on his own. But then yeah they took way longer than needed it.

Honestly wtf that took way too long.
I remember a different version where a dog falls in after walking on frozen ice and the mom jumps in instantly treading through broken ice
Broken ice you can kind of assume the dog will need help or will die. In this case its a small swimming pool, im sure most were under the impression the dog could save itself for at least a few seconds.
I thought they were just going to stand there and let the dog drowned.
They probably were if the guy didn’t climb in. The way they were so hesitant I was convinced it must have been a vat of acid. Ridiculous.
Fucking hell that took way too long for someone to rescue that dog 😡
What's the point when the dumbass jumps straight back in? I'm picking this isn't the first time that goofball has done this.
As responsible dog owners they should take necessary precautions..
Natural selection
someone take these dogs away from these absolutely worthless people.
Holy shit, for real. That was so frustrating to watch.
[удалено]
I'm gunna guess this is probably the 5th time this has happened that day based on their reactions haha
Self preservation mode: off
Hate to say it, but nothing "sweaty palms" about this one.
It gets worse with every second . . .
Christ why did they wait so long??
We’ve just bred dog breeds that can’t survive falling in water for our own pleasure. That’s where the true cruelty lies
He just sunk like a stone
Just like 8 people willing to watch a dog drown...
Yeah, average dog can hold their breath from 30sec to 1 minute, so it was not in danger. A well trained dog can even do 3 minutes and more.
That dog’s like, “just let me go…”
He jumped in?
Dog should be able to swim just fine... What's wrong with that pup?
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a dog that couldn’t swim. I burst out laughing after the second one jumped in and the first went for a second dip.
It's a dog, if it's that stupid....
That ending 😆🤣 Some animals just aren't smart enough to live
I'm sorry, the little one going in a second time sent me. 🤣🤣
K not just me. Fucking hilarious 🤣
Why did they wait so long? Fuck your clothes bro you can just throw them in the dryer real quick.
Eventually.
“Jumps” is highly subjective
looks like the dog's blind?
I might have been misinformed but I thought all dogs were born knowing how to swim.
I'm really bothered by how long these idiots just stood around the pool
Took unbelievably long to react
What exactly were they waiting for
I like the how dude sat down and got comfortable before taking his phone out his pocket
What a stupid dog haha
Dang, very sweaty. Thats at least like 20 meters deep, frozen and from what I can see there is visible sharks, alligators and deadly piranhas swimming in there. Also to make things worse the sea was angry that day.
This is just neglect, why post this garbage?
Doberman can't swim either, he's upright and panicking. PSA if your dog paddles flat and can stop and maintain motion voluntarily, he can swim. If your dog points upwards and struggles to gain forward motion he can't swim and is actively trying not to drown.
Cant dogs swim. I thought they could swim naturally
That dog ain't long for this world if it can't swim
Lil guy having the time of his life. Lets go again!
Jumps right back in
Why can’t these dogs swim? So odd.
Dogs can drown???
Outrageously slow! I’d have been in there in a millisecond
Haha the bugger went back in
Why are people taking eternity only to do the bare minimum here?
Dad and everyone took their sweet time
That’s one stupid arse dog
That was infuriating to watch, the dog is drowning and the women doesn’t want to get wet? Lady… save your dog wtf
This is why I have cats
dad slowly gets in*
Took him long enough. What the heck is wrong with these people.
and then the motherfucker turns around and goes straight the fuck back in?!?! LMAO
Those people have a couple stupid dogs, lolz
"I wanna rescue the dog but I don't want my legs wet" SMH lady
Useless
How long does it take to get in a big bath tub Jesus f***
Idiot waited too long. Dog could have brain damage
Lol it already does, just look at how it jumped back in. Water should have taken it
💀
I don’t understand why it took them so long. My 8 week old puppy fell into the pool at my friend’s house and I immediately jumped in after her because I wasn’t sure she could swim. She was fine and I ruined my phone but I’d rather that than have my dog drown.
WOW I’m blaming the kid with the white shirt and grey pants I would’ve reacted instantly at that take off my shirt leave phone on chair and jump in Whole family was watching tho
Shit cunts ! Put a fence up.
She rolled up her sleeves…
And that’s why I force my dogs to learning how to swim
theyre thinking that it would come up, because IT'S A FUCKING DOG, but look what crossbreeding does on these poor guys.
r/Unexpected
All my dogs orange dye would come off 😭😭😂😂
That took WAY too long
The other dog is like this is how you swim idiot! Then he said let me try so he jumped in again
Lmao that dog is suicidal.
By the way it started, and how I felt, I never thought I would end up thinking this is some of the funniest shit I've ever seen by the end
I love how the big dog gets in there to mock the little dog
oh look I can dive!
"I... MANNY... AY COME ON STELLA 😩"
Hahaha 🤣 poor pop going back in must have been the shock that confused it
Sounds like a chimp section of a zoo lol
![gif](giphy|l2Sq8wyY1Zfndp6Lu)
Whiskey Tango Foxtrot Why did it take so long for someone to do something 🤦♂️
😂😂😂
Bull dogs swim like a brick, ask me how I know.
It's frustrating that they take 15 seconds to get into the water, but the end is still pretty damn hilarious. 🤣
Testing the owner huh
Hilarious
Your definition and my definition of jump are vastly different.
Wouldn’t call that a jump
Oh jeez it just gets worse and worse lol
Yes “jumped in” after he sat his ass down and emptied his pockets
My grandma used to say that a dog who couldn't survive a night out...was not a dog. Well I guess you can extend the meaning.
"Let's wait and test his little lungs"
“Dad lazily climbs into the pool to save stupid dog…” you mean
No hope for those pooches lol
Fucking bitch would let him drown before getting wet.
Inteligent creatures
Is this a video from the future?
lmao they both were like weeee
They took way to long farting around
Wie lange alle warten bis jemand rein geht , da könnte ich 🤮
It was a sign, Darwin doing it's job
This doesn’t fit the sub in the slightest
“Let’s see how slow I can do this”
i wanna smash their face to the ground so hard for just standing there like fcking vegetables looking at the dog nearly dying. they are pathethic.
Why are they so slow to get in like it's a pool of shit
… was the dog just going to drowned if you didn’t show up? 4 people in the room staring at this happening..
Holy shit if that was my puppy I would have been in there in a heartbeat phone and everything!
Lil bro did everything in his power to be naturally selected
That was a bit sweatypalms, but it was also a bit comical.
They took way too long to get in there.
Why it take them so long to jump in to help…
Bro committed to drowning ☠️
That took way too long
The dad literally took his sweet time taking out his phone from his pocket 💀
how can a dog NOT swim?
Some cant, depending on their build. We havent uh....been careful with breeding. A lot of dogs are fucked genetically
Kill me billy
What the fuck took them so long
demoro pra caralho bando de filho da puta
Gotta teach those dummies to use the shallow end to get out!
Let natural selection do its thing
Stupid dog...
oh my god what was taking him so long?? your dog is drowning. oh let me check for my phone, can’t replace that!
Dogs as dumb as the humans or is it the other way around.
They'll probably have to teach the dog to swim. Assuming this breed even can.
Dog jumps into pool. People freak out and watch dog struggle. The only sane person actually GOT into the pool and rescued the dog.
I've never seen a dog too dumb to swim before.
Why the hell did everyone just stand around, not getting in to help, for SO LONG? It’s just a small pool! WTF??
PSA: The recommendation if a dog does this is to lead them to the steps so they can learn to climb out instead of lifting them out.
Chaos 😂😂
Took him long enough
They took their good ass time to finally rescue the dog..im heated just watching this bullshit..they were just standing around watching for a good while before they finally acted
[удалено]
Wasn't for the dad they would have just watched the dog drown by the looks of it.
Bro is not a swimmer
These people are absolutely useless. Dog is literally underwater and they’re more concerned about getting their clothes wet.
Shit I thought all dogs could swim
