Are we just ignoring that random frame of a bee keeper then.. Cuz I've got a few questions..?
Is that the same box..? Is the dude walking inches from death CARRYING FUCKING BEES!!???
There's got to be come context to this... why are people having to climb life risking mountains just to "carry goods back home"? If this is how they got goods to their homes, how did those homes get built in the first place?
There’s extensive cave networks in the east of the country through these extremely mountainous regions. They don’t traditionally build any large settlements there, but they have been used extensively by the tribes in the area to hide out from enemy forces.
They’re so impenetrable that Egypt resorted to chemical weapons attacks in the ‘60s to try to root the tribesmen out because all other attempts failed. https://academic.oup.com/book/7091/chapter-abstract/151596571?redirectedFrom=fulltext
Pretty sure a few months ago people were mad because some terrorists were trying to sneak into the country through a tunnel and they used mustard gas to dispose of them...
I mean probably loads, Ireland for example excluding the IRA which don't represent the Irish people or government.
Usually the ones who had the war crimes committed against.
[They're collecting cave honey.](https://twitter.com/its_yemen/status/1301561186211827712)
Here's [some more info:](https://balqees.com/yemeni-raw-cave-honey-dubai)
> The most expensive Yemeni honey is Kahouf (cave) honey from Wadi Amd. There in the remote mountains the bees make wild hives. Hidden from the sun this liquid gold retains its thick consistency, amber colour and all its rich nutrients.
> The beekeepers have to crawl inside the caves through narrow fissures in the rock and collect just enough so that the bees can still thrive without damaging the hive or these precious creatures. It is so rare it costs at least USD $1550 for 2.2 lbs.
[This honey is only collected twice annually.](https://beemission.com/blogs/news/rare-and-exotic-honey)
I often have to look up addresses of schools and in some countries, the addresses are literally like this. I recently had one that was just "school name," Zimbabwe.
I mean...this is how parts of the world are. How did humans build houses before roads even existed?
We've literally been doing it for hundreds of thousands of years.
In fact we've been doing it THIS way for far longer than we've been using roads.
Older generation used to do it barefoot. My uncles told me when they were young and went to the village school they couldn't walk into school barefoot. So they used to carry their sandals in their bag and put them on right before entering. They were worried about ripping the sandals on the walk (think cheap chinese thong sandals.) Our village's valley path isn't as bad as this but still was a trail up and down two mountains.
When I go to the store l get intensely irritated if I get caught by all the red lights. I will try to recall this next time l allow myself to get mad at a small, silly thing
What if they are? What if you don't think it, you know it? Do you think anyone throughout history has ever been hyper aware enough to actually know they have the biggest problem?
Kinda fun to ponder for a bit, write?
Japanese people in Hiroshima and Nagasaki for a moment? I’m thinking they knew they had the biggest problem for a moment but it didn’t last long for most of them.
Maybe someone narcissistic might think about comparing their problems to everyone else's in that moment if it gave them a "victim advantage" over everyone else. Personally, I think Id just have a breakdown and die, no time to think about the problem.
>Personally, I think Id just have a breakdown and die, no time to think about the problem.
Same. I would literally die if someone dropped a nuke on me.
Could you, even with hindsight, point at a single event and call it the worst of that time? I feel like there's just always different problems and it's next to impossible to pinpoint which is actually the worst
Why yes, I actually can. There's a single man-made thing that connects us all globally. In English (US), we call it 'money'. It's the fuel of our global economy. There have been numerous negative events throughout history that are tied to money. I don't have to argue beyond that to know with certainty that Enron and Bernie Madoff were the single worst of that time. Some "*think*" they're still relative today because they had such a negative impact.
Why did you feel the need to so condescendingly explain what money is? I mean yeah you could say that money is the single most desctuctive invention but, weren't we talking about relatively short lived events where a single person could be aware of the fact they are currently having the biggest problem in the world? And do you really think those two are the worst that ever happened to the world? Sure they suck big time, but some scammers are way less horrible than someone like Hitler or Mao Zedong.
I say last Tuesday I had the biggest historical problem ever, we were going to bake a cake using our new kitchen aid stand mixer but we only had small eggs and it asked for large 😭😭😭💀
I think the Romans at Cannae and the sailors floating after the Indianapolis sunk knew their situations were the worst by far.
Romans had a full day of their soldiers getting mowed down by a surrounding army to the point the soldiers were so densely packed in the center they couldn't lift their arms.
Indianapolis speaks for itself
In both the greatest possible misery lasted so damn long it's impossible no one considered it
How can you think the value of money is more important than human lives? Bernie Madoff and enron are nothing compared to Hitler or the nukes we dropped on Japan they're not even in the same zip code when it comes to horrible things
Damn I watched this when it first came out, as I was thinking it would soon apply to me as I both turned 18 and entered my first year in college.
But almost 9 years later, actually semi living that life with a toddler and another kid coming, I don’t think I really understood what the video meant until now. Actual adult life is boring and dreary, days seem to just roll on endlessly. Thanks for posting the video, hopefully I can start seeing things around me differently
It's really incredible the different perspectives you can take away from it through the different seasons of life. Any time something reminds me of it, and I go back and rewatch it I take something different away. Amazing to hear your journey with it! Happy I was able to share!
David Foster Wallace had a history of being abusive to women and ended up hanging himself because he tried to quit his anti-depressants because he was having trouble finishing a novel and thought the pills were stopping him. He didn't finish the novel.
While I love his novels, I think as a source of life advice he's deeply flawed.
Is there anything in particular in that exact speech that you can point out as false or unhelpful? It has changed a lot of people’s lives. Flawed, disorganized people are still capable of creating truth and goodness at times.
I would support your point if he was giving unique advice. What is presented in this video is far from unique, is not the invention of Wallace and has been said in other forms in other places.
He also doesn’t say “this is what I do and my life is perfect” he says that it helps and he is he is inconsistent in its practice.
So if someone came up to me and said “hey you should follow your car manufacturers recommended maintenance during warranty and then continue regular maintenance with a qualified service center” but their car was on fire I would probably say “yeah no shit that’s a pretty basic car maintenance idea, but you’re an idiot”
So for this Wallace guy…. “Yeah no shit that’s a pretty basic mindfulness idea, but you’re an idiot”
That would make sense David Foster Wallace's speech was about writing technique, or American politics, or basically anything except advice on how to live.
If someone was giving instructions on how to fix a car and their car that they were in charge of fixing kept catching on fire, then bringing up their constantly burning car as a reason to seek another source of information on car repair is completely valid.
Solar yes. Nuclear no. Haven't looked at renewables besides solar.
But indeed, even only solar is bad enough. Should be treated as critically as chips.
Nah the PPl of Yemen are brave, the Saudis who stand up against their shitty government despite risking death in some cases are brave. I am just an asshhole who wanted to remind ppl of whats going on there and who is causing it.
What kind of dystopian shite is this? I feel for all humanity that is forced to live in danger. Especially, since it’s a choice. Resources for human rights are easy; the patriarchal predators maintain control by hook or crook and murder.
Someone in the Yemeni Department of Transportation needs to get on the ball and widen those roads. And maybe add a guard rail or two. That's one seriously bad transportation system they got there.
Odds are these people are having to endure such a dangerous path of travel so that they can avoid an even more dangerous path of travel. Considering the country is under constant bombing by Saudi Arabi. Armed by the US. Condoned by the world.
I’m pretty sure they could build a road somewhere around that area.
Do you like the North Koreans start stealing crypto and build your country… cuz ain’t no way
I thought they were throwing up a hill, then it just kept falling
After that I actually thought I was in /r/confusing_perspective
Right?! That messed with me. It doesn't change when I rewatch it either.
It’s like Oh that’s a bit bigger than I thou- oh. oh.. *oh…*
[удалено]
Not to me, sadly
No she didn't
oman it is falling
If it was a nokia the world would have ended from the explosion
Are we just ignoring that random frame of a bee keeper then.. Cuz I've got a few questions..? Is that the same box..? Is the dude walking inches from death CARRYING FUCKING BEES!!???
Yeah I would just choose not to have bees
"They're my emotional support bees"
Then you may not have crops. Pollination is required for a lot of fruit and vegetables.
They probably charge an arm and a leg for it.
Just pop a little H on that box so we know it’s got hornets in
Why don’t you just go ahead and have this present anyway
That acne came back hey?
God what a good show. Take my upvote
Heroine? Hydrogen? Instructions unclear and now I've been stung many times, am high, and on fire
"The bees are safe, Ali! They can fly. Now do your job!"
Amazon Prime is really going the extra mile these days
Now imagine the guy carrying the camera who doesn’t even get to watch where he is going
I thought the same thing.
I think it's just regular bees, but.. you never know.
What if I told you that the single frame bee keeper isn't real?
(There really was no need for the apostrophe on "bee's".)
It's ok, the bees can fly so he can just hang on to the box if he falls.
This is how my parents went to school
But it was snowing too want it?
Global Warming.
Don't forget tornadoes
and they had to do it several times a day due to all the jobs
Did you get the milk like I asked you? …
“I said almond milk…”
I got nut milk instead
I nutted in the milk
r/yourjokebutworse
Your milk contains my semen
Yemen*
I got 12 milk jugs, like you asked. What? You said get milk, and if they have eggs get a dozen. They had eggs, so I got a dozen milk.
…And no eggs. A classic :)

I guess those must’ve been boo bees
Lol

What a shameful fact in Egypt's history.
Pretty sure a few months ago people were mad because some terrorists were trying to sneak into the country through a tunnel and they used mustard gas to dispose of them...
Egypt has a history of doing terrible things to people I think.
I mean what country hasn’t at least dabbled with chemical weapons and war crimes?
I mean probably loads, Ireland for example excluding the IRA which don't represent the Irish people or government. Usually the ones who had the war crimes committed against.
Go back to mummy’s

Yemeni honey is really good but really expensive. Also look at Al Sidr honey, made from the Sidr tree
Yeah I’d like to see just where they ended up.
15 Yemen Road, Yemen.
I often have to look up addresses of schools and in some countries, the addresses are literally like this. I recently had one that was just "school name," Zimbabwe.
When we get to Yemen can I live with you?

Well they certainly ain't Nahmen
Lol
This made me laugh harder than it should have!

One of those trips should be to bring back pickaxes and then everybody just takes a swing every now and then to widen that path.
That's exactly my thought. If I had to walk this path daily, I'd be spending my day carving out the shittiest parts.
I think you guys have played too much Minecraft. Rock is HARD. You are not going to make a path there with a pickaxe.
I mean...this is how parts of the world are. How did humans build houses before roads even existed? We've literally been doing it for hundreds of thousands of years. In fact we've been doing it THIS way for far longer than we've been using roads.
I assume they don’t want to go through the road due to checkpoints.
No alcohol...I get it now
in sandals lol effing hell
And the brittle rocks? Why
Literally walking to school uphill both ways!
I got exhausted just thinking about doing that daily.
Keyna fields some of the best marathon runs in the world. Most of those kids learn how to run distances barefoot.
Thanks for sharing !!

I choose to get mad that even the people walking the face of a cliff are going faster than me when I'm at a red light
These dudes are just taking this route to avoid the DUI checkpoint though. You too can take the exciting way home if you want to avoid the red lights.
Cross post this video to /r/fuckcars lmao
I think to myself, "How many centuries have they had to cut a solid path for themselves?" Then I stop feeling bad for them.
When your buddy asks you to help move his new couch and ends up owing a life debt in return.
I'm getting vertigo just watching
What’s in the box?!
Instructions to build at lower elevation.
Seems they went to capture a wild beehive to take home for honey production.
Gwyneth Paltrow's head.
The risk far outweigh the reward.
What would you do for a box of bees?
Wait, those WERE bees. I didn’t realize at first. Well that might be worth it since it’s not a daily trip and bees provide for a long time.
Some yemeni honeys like Sidr honey cost a LOT. It probably is actually worth it for them
Ehh idk I feel like there’s a better way
or the official road is blocked by the Saudi invadors
Yeah this is probably a shortcut or something stupid
Just here to say fuck the Saudi Arabian Family
They are one of the biggest reasons why we need renewables and nuclear energy yesterday.
And China is cornering that market as we speak. If they haven't done so already.

TIL that I would die if I were Yemeni, not from the wars, just the commute.
Theres this guy I know from Yemen. We hate eachother though. Hes my yemesis.
I find this way funny
Good lord!
Surely none died.
Insert “This is how my grandparents got to school” comment
Uphill, both ways… in the snow.
“Is this safe?” “Yemen”
Yeah I'm gonna go ahead and give that a nope from me
Yeah that's gonna be a no from me chief
I can't even go down the stairs properly sometimes.
first clip is training video for fedex.
My dad… going to school. 😵
Someone remind me to shut up the next time I complain about my life.
"Bring it back home or don't come home at all"
Dune sequel looks great! Where's Timothee Chalamet?
I'd rather carry my home closer to goods
"What happened to Phil?" "Ah yeah he died while getting some potatoes."
Our parents going too and from school.
What kind of dystopian shite is this? I feel for all humanity that is forced to live in danger. Especially, since it’s a choice. Resources for human rights are easy; the patriarchal predators maintain control by hook or crook and murder.
Nothing dystopian about this. These are well-off guys from Oman having fun in the mountains. https://www.instagram.com/tv/CD4Pe-nJRet/
Probably the best place on the planet for drone delivery but I’m guessing that the infrastructure just isn’t there.
Their massive balls must help with their stability
Every. Thread.
Like high-rise building with massive stabilizing pendulum weights in their core; they sway, so the building doesn't collapse.
or empty brains.
I pride myself in being an excellent climber. I could do this path fairly easily. I however, could not do it while HOLDING A BOX KF FUCKING BEES
So is there no ground for them to live on? /s
What the average lifespan for these blokes? Cause I’m already dead
That's some fine Death Stranding IRL right there
Package marked as fragile ...
And I hate when a Starbucks doesn’t have a drive thru
The road to school your grandparents took
This is the kinda shit I imagine when elders say back in my days we had to walk so much to get to the school.
So me running along side mountains in breath of the wild isn’t so unrealistic
This is the way our parents took to school, right?
In fucking sandals and all
Wtf
And here I am not wanting to go to the grocery store and it's only 2 streets down from my house........🙁
They should just use Amazon Prime next time
I always hate moving my comic collection
"Nah, we can get it all in one trip."
But why a box? Surely there are other carrying vessels
They’re just casually walking on the side of a cliff that mountain goats look at and say “nope.”
I'm sorry but if you live in a place and this is what you have to traverse to bring home resources, you need to move.
This is the path my parents told me they had to walk to school
How much should I tip this Deliveroo guy?
Someone in the Yemeni Department of Transportation needs to get on the ball and widen those roads. And maybe add a guard rail or two. That's one seriously bad transportation system they got there.
NOPE
. Fuuuuuuuuuuck dat .
"Move your home to where the goods are"
They are like mountain goats lol
Gotta keep that box of tax records for seven years people!
How your parents walked to school
For a start maybe buy a box of rope and string it along for a safety rail next time.
Or just don't fall off.
Insanely uncool
No wonder they have trouble recruiting Amazon delivery drivers!
Might be easier to build a road
Yeah, ikr! Someone just needs open up the build menu, select “road” (hotkey “R”), then just connect up the two locations.
Or how about the first guy throws a rope down at least instead of making everyone else suffer also.
Odds are these people are having to endure such a dangerous path of travel so that they can avoid an even more dangerous path of travel. Considering the country is under constant bombing by Saudi Arabi. Armed by the US. Condoned by the world.
Bro just live somewhere else lmao
Where is his hiking gear? Rope hiking shoes...this dude is on sandals like he's on a beach
He’s based and doesn’t need shitty gear to be an absolute mad man
I was being sarcastic. I was born in Afghanistan and I walked up several mountains in sandals but nothing like this
I’m pretty sure they could build a road somewhere around that area. Do you like the North Koreans start stealing crypto and build your country… cuz ain’t no way
