Here's the thing: I'm a Reputation stan, but I agree. Midnights is lyrically and sonically her most interesting and dynamic pop album. Subjectively people love other albums better, but I think Midnights is the most interesting to think about and dissect of the pop genre. Maybe not best overall.
I subjectively prefer Evermore of the two sisters, but I truly think Folklore is her best album. It's beautiful, cohesive, complex, and most importantly - a vibe!
I recently had someone argue with me in my personal life that 1989 was the best album because it is the most popular but that's not how I measure music. Someone can have the best music without being mainstream.
I find it really hard to compare her pop albums but I think I have to say midnights is my favourite and then 1989. 1989 is just such a classic successful pop sound but midnights is darker and more chill and brooding.
Pop, according to Jack, is at its best when you leave the formula.
So no arguments from me.
I respectfully disagree with your second statement and I don’t think it’s better than Rep, but absolutely no fighting from me that it’s better than 1989. People really hate when I say that tho
I think it’s much better than Lover but overall one of my least favorite of her albums. for me, i don’t find the lyrics as strong and they messages don’t resonate with me as much. Just my opinion!
I Don't Wanna Live Forever has the most streams because it's been on Spotify the longest out of all her songs. Taylor's albums weren't on Spotify until 2017, but I Don't Wanna Live Forever was on Spotify before then since it's a soundtrack song and not a song off one of her own albums. The 1989 hits would've likely had more streams than IDWLF if they had been on Spotify from the start.
Holy moly, look at Cruel Summer’s daily streams compared to every other song. It’s amazing to me how her tour has caused such an increase in popularity for a song that came out in 2019
I think it just takes time to move up in position compared to others that have been around for a long time. In reality it’s in her top ten in daily streams
Based on general opinions of non-swifties I expected her popular Fearless, Speak Now, and Red singles to be higher, (like, Love Story, You Belong with Me, Mine, Trouble, etc.,) and Reputation songs to be lower considering how much public hate that album got - same with Shake It Off and Me! being higher than expected as well.
I think there tends to be a trend of the more upbeat boppy songs getting more streams regardless. Like Paper Rings being so high up compared to tolerate it or something.
I feel these kind of comparation should combine songs with Taylor’s version, not in cases like all too well 10 min but for example both Love Story and wildest dreams are above 1 B and these not reflect well the success of the songs as they are the same song with very little difference and one replace the other
You definitely have to take into account context. 1989 will get hit twice. First with being taken off Spotify for 3 years and then for getting a TV.
Otherwise that whole album would constantly be dominating.
I know, that’s why is important context, there are circumstances that can not be change but it is easy to combine both version to rank which of her songs is most streamed.
I want to sow the seeds of chaos. My hot “Midnights” take: TS’s best pop album, and maybe her best album overall. *Discuss.*

It's my least favourite pop album of hers.

Same I like several 1989 songs but Midnights is something else. It's so satisfying and moody.

I’m sorry, but how is Would’ve, Could’ve, Should’ve only 96 😭😭😭
I cannot wait for the day when I Don’t Want to Live Forever (a feature) is no longer at the top of the list.
Good for you since it seems like you won't have to wait for long at all😅
That’s like this week! Haha
Can someone explain to me why it is? Maybe that’s a dumb question but I also noticed there’s an * in front of it

Thank you for explaining! I’m an Apple Music user so I never realized she wasn’t on Spotify early.
The * just means that Taylor is a feature on the song.

And that’s without the boost of the eras tour movie about to come out.
Dear Reader being so low is a felony
Unfortunately the only song it’s beating out is Glitch
Still surprised Karma is that far down the list… and it’s her closing song for the Eras tour. 🤨
I think it just takes time to move up in position compared to others that have been around for a long time. In reality it’s in her top ten in daily streams
That’s fair.
Midnight Rain! Let’s gooooo Gonna personally boost it up a couple spots.
I am quite surprised by the overall distribution of song plays across her discography. A lot of songs higher and lower than I would expect.
Oh interesting. Like what ones?

Yeah, the Red, Fearless and Speak Now ones have already been hit by the TV splits. I think Love Story is top 3ish when you combine both versions.
i wonder if blank space is going to dethrone i don’t wanna live forever before taylors version comes out.
It will! I think within the week actually!
Maroon and Would’ve Could’ve Should’ve are both underrated. These 2 songs + ATW 10 mins got me through a 9 hour drive (I was obviously in my feelings)
I think there tends to be a trend of the more upbeat boppy songs getting more streams regardless. Like Paper Rings being so high up compared to tolerate it or something.

Well this is just from a website that tracks Spotify streams. I didn’t do any of the work personally.
Oh yeah I just realize is kworb that does it authomatic
i love how me! is in the top 15, 13 specifically 😉
I forget what it was at the beginning of the year like before midnights but it was between top 5-10
This supports my thoughts that Midnight Rain should have been a single in January rather than a half arsed Lavendar Haze
Cruel Summer 5 million plus per day, that’s what I like to see!
I’m wondering if there will be a dip with summer coming to an end or if it will just continue being like this.
I’m actually wondering that too. I really hope it gets to #1 at some point!
