This has been my son’s lullaby since the day he was born. He now asks me to sing it to get him to calm down and is becoming a Taylor Tot. I can’t hear it outside of those quiet moments with him without bawling.
I agree 100%. It reminds me so much of Katniss and Rue from The Hunger Games that I thought it was in the actual movie, not just on the movie soundtrack.
This is my all time favorite song of Taylor's. So many people don't remember it. But I loved the Civil Wars when they were together and their trio together on this song is THE BEST. I would tell anyone who would listen that Taylor should do a full album like this song ... Then we got Evermore and Folklore and people were shocked how good they were.
Not me. I knew her voice was meant for this type of vibe. Same for the song Carolina. I wish she would do a collab with Mumford and Sons. Or maybe Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic zeros. She could do another folk/indie era and I am here for it!
Yes! It also reminds me that at the end of the day, this little creature just wants me. Nothing really more (except endless snacks and a lot of books), and it just makes me even more appreciative of him. I guess I always assumed Taylor wrote it for her mom.
Yes it is! The ring part is even about this sort of ring that would appear around the pustules of plague victims 💀 and pocket full of posey is about the old idea that keeping a pleasant smell around could potentially help prevent you from getting sick, due to the theory of miasma or “bad air” lol. And of course my favourite, “we all fall down” because so many people were dying!
Sorry don’t mind me, spent several months digging deep into the history of disease and learned a lot of fun facts like this one.
I gave birth 2 days ago and at the end of pregnancy I was just listening to this song and sobbing and now I cry singing it to my sweet baby. Is there anything more beautiful than the way be protect a child’s innocence? It’s the epitome of being a parent. I can’t believe how well she was able to capture that not being a parent herself.
Originally I only wanted to post the first 4 songs I mentioned. "Nice to have a friend" came to mind just before I hit send and I added it spontanously.
So sure, it's not one of her "early" works - but also def not a "new" release. Maybe we can agree, we both weren't spot on here. 🫱🏻🫲🏼 Also I think it's not that huge of a deal for the merit of my answer that it needes to be discussed profoundly here. 🙂
Yeah it’s definitely not a big deal, sorry if I came off as rude? This was my first comment in the thread so I don’t think I was discussing it profoundly…
when my baby was tiny I sang her blank space in a slowed down lullaby melody. She’s three now and said “I don’t like Taylor swift” over and over the other day so I’m a little bummed but hoping it’s a short lived phase ha
It's the age. I have had "Call Me Maybe" on my kid playlist for years. My oldest loved it, and then one day she hated it -- but by then her little brother loved it. Then he hated it and she loved it again. Now they both adore it so much that during a recent road trip they made me play it 5 times in a row so we could sing it at the top of our lungs. I am a little tired of it now, tbh, but they have declared it our traveling song and insist it be on any and all road trip playlists.
So hang in there. She might still end up being a Swiftie.
Jump Then Fall, Long Live, Robin, Never Grow Up
But also, playing the piano covers on Spotify (or whatever app) too could be good for night time winding down! Also could be handy to have playing while you sing to them
Ooo thank you guys for the suggestions! I’m putting together a playlist of all of them and then gonna practice singing them to see which ones I like best . 🌹
My girls liked Taylor Swift without any suggestion of mine, it’s a long story. But I find it so cool! My 6 year old loves Miss Americana and the heartbreak prince becuase there’s a part in there where she says “paint the town blue” and it reminds her of her other fav song Paint the town Red haha.
I actually hum a medley of Exile, Champagne Problems and Tolerate It to my 2 year old at bedtime. The lyrics aren’t very lullaby-ish but the low notes provide a very soothing vibration.
There is an instagram page I follow called heysleepybaby and she has a Spotify Playlist called The Taylor Swift Method. Lots of good ideas on there! Also good when you're on a long road trip or something and need your kids to fall asleep lol!
I sing the song Lover but changed the word Lover to Snuggler. I also changed the line “and you’ll save all your dirtiest jokes for me” to “all of your silliest jokes”.
My sister has a 5 month old and she sings Never Grow Up, Long Live and Fifteen to her a lot. Although baby seems to really like Champagne Problems but probably not the best lullaby for kids old enough to understand the words.
My 3 year old niece likes listening to “the smallest man song” on repeat. We’re not quite sure why though…
You are in Love is halfway to a lullaby already (maybe skip a couple of the romantic lines though). It’s on my sleepytime playlist and sounds like the feeling of drinking a hot chocolate while looking at the stars with friends.
Sparks fly, enchanted, today was a fairytale, love story, lover, there are more too but the lyrics may not match lullaby standards 😂because they’re more depressing than uplifting.
I used to sing I Knew You Were Trouble when I was taking care of a couple babies during the Red era 😂 Family suggested I sing to the babies and when I said I don’t know any lullabies they said anything works! They were right lol so my advice: literally anything if you just sing it in a lullaby voice!
There is an artist (Twinkle Twinkle Little Rock star) that creates lullaby versions of a lot of different bands and musicians. I used to rock my daughter to sleep to the lullaby versions of Red Hot Chili Peppers, Tool, and Elton John. In December the released a Taylor album. There are no vocals but it is so nicely done.
I think another one called Rockaby Baby has a Taylor version. I just know TTLRS’s version has 34 songs.
Never grow up is the basic answer, but "basic" just means popular.
Safe & Sound was actually supposed to be a song that resembles a lullaby because it was inspired by Katniss's mother's lullaby in The Hunger Games movie.
Sweet Nothing just feels so calming, especially the sequence in the intro.
Breathe, I feel, is an incredibly underrated song and would be great as a lullaby.
Begin Again feels like relief and putting your guard down.
(these are just all on my nighttime wind down playlist haha)
When my baby was tiny it took exactly 10 minutes for him to sleep deep enough to be put down. There wasn’t a clock in the nursery so I would sing atw10mv to him so I knew how long it had been. It became a bedtime routine and now he joins in (as best a 2 year old can) and knows most of the words. I’m at Wembley on Friday and I’m almost dreading her singing it because it’s become a song about my baby growing up and I’m going to cry so hard the whole way through.
I guess it's low-hanging fruit but Never Grow Up
Just don't break out in tears like every time I listen to it 😭😭😭
I used to sing this to my daughter every night when she was a baby 😊
I'm assuming she didn't take your advice 😀
I joke with her about that too! Lol no she didn’t, she just went and turned 8 on me!
Tsk, Kids. Never listen to advice till it's too late 😀
My daughter’s class sang this (and long live) at her kindergarten graduation last month and I swear every single person in the auditorium was sobbing
Me
This has been my son’s lullaby since the day he was born. He now asks me to sing it to get him to calm down and is becoming a Taylor Tot. I can’t hear it outside of those quiet moments with him without bawling.
Same. He loves watching the Eras tour on Disney+
ADORABLE!!!✨😊✨😊😊😊
This is my song I have mentally attached to my daughter.
I used to sing this to my godson a lot when he was a baby and it was the one thing that always calmed him. Such lovely memories. :’)
I first heard this while listening speak now TV on vinyl while cuddling my son and was SOBBING.
Taylor’s version has been my go-to for a month. It’s so calming.
I have Sang this song for all 4 of my kiddos :)
Your little hand's wrapped around my finger and its so quiet in the world tonight
My 6 and 7 year olds *love* that song, and hearing them sing it is an experience.
I've always thought Safe & Sound would make a good lullaby. Not sure why, it just has that vibe.
I agree 100%. It reminds me so much of Katniss and Rue from The Hunger Games that I thought it was in the actual movie, not just on the movie soundtrack.
The lyric literally says "hold on to this lullaby" so I think it's pretty fitting.
i used to sing the chorus to this to my nieces when they were babies!
It is a lullaby. And the song which made me a Swiftie.
It’s quite literally a lullaby😭
This is my all time favorite song of Taylor's. So many people don't remember it. But I loved the Civil Wars when they were together and their trio together on this song is THE BEST. I would tell anyone who would listen that Taylor should do a full album like this song ... Then we got Evermore and Folklore and people were shocked how good they were. Not me. I knew her voice was meant for this type of vibe. Same for the song Carolina. I wish she would do a collab with Mumford and Sons. Or maybe Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic zeros. She could do another folk/indie era and I am here for it!
I played this for my son every night when he was a baby
No Sweet Nothing on here yet? Big fave in our house. And Cowboy Like Me.
I often sing sweet nothing to my daughter, in fact if she hears it playing she says "mumma this is my favourite song no your favourite ok?"
😂 I get that too. Also, stop copying me! They’ll learn to share some day
Thinking about it , the melody in sweet nothing reminds me of either a lullaby or a music box ❤️
Yes! It also reminds me that at the end of the day, this little creature just wants me. Nothing really more (except endless snacks and a lot of books), and it just makes me even more appreciative of him. I guess I always assumed Taylor wrote it for her mom.
My baby is 5 months old and Sweet Nothing has been one of my bedtime songs from the beginning.
That's the song my brain hummed when it read the title of the post!
I prefer sweet nothing as a parent child song over a romantic relationship. It has an innocence to it.
I would say Seven is a great option in terms of lullaby vibes :)
I'd expand this to the entirety of Folklore lol. When my youngest was a baby, I'd start off with The 1 and I'd just keep going until he dropped off.
I’m glad I’m not the only one who does this!!
I think your house is haunted, your dad is always mad and that must be why 💀
Plenty of nursery rhymes have super creepy lyrics! Isn’t ring around the rosy about the black plague?
Yes i think so 😫
One of my faves
My little sister loves this song.
Yes! I love seven
idk why but It’s Nice To Have A Friend was the first song that i thought of
So underrated too
yes! the tune is definitely lullaby-ish
Robin
Can't believe this isn't the top answer, I feel like this was practically written to be a lullaby
Criminally underrated
My son LOVES dinosaurs and he’s always roaring around and ugh. Long may he reign ❤️❤️❤️
Sang this to my newborn twins while we were in the NICU
I sing this to my daughter all of the time now, she loves it (but I’m holding back tears and sing it with that lump in my throat lol)
I don’t have a kid and get the lump in my throat 😅🥹
I gave birth 2 days ago and at the end of pregnancy I was just listening to this song and sobbing and now I cry singing it to my sweet baby. Is there anything more beautiful than the way be protect a child’s innocence? It’s the epitome of being a parent. I can’t believe how well she was able to capture that not being a parent herself.
I sing this for my cat, does that count? 🥹
Yes!
Of course!!!😊 I bet Taylor sings some of these songs to her cats!
I played this over and over for my baby nephew when he was up all night with his first cold. I’m so sure Aaron intended it as a lullaby.
I sing Love Story and Lover to my baby, but in Lover, I swap out "lover" for "baby," and instead of "dirtiest jokes," I say "dirtiest diapers."
TT you're my baby... that's so cute
This is adorable!
when my daughter was 2-4 years old she asked me to sing her love story at bedtime all the time🥰
Probably some of her earlier stuff: Never Grow Up // Safe & Sound // Stay Beautiful // The Best Day // It's nice to have a friend
>some of her earlier stuff >It's nice to have a friend What do you mean, that one is new
i mean.. 5 years now. i would classify midnights and obviously TTPD as new. Lover is newer, not new.
Sure, but I definitely wouldn’t consider it to be her early work
Originally I only wanted to post the first 4 songs I mentioned. "Nice to have a friend" came to mind just before I hit send and I added it spontanously. So sure, it's not one of her "early" works - but also def not a "new" release. All good here! 🙂 I was just surprised, when I saw, I got a reply, that this was the topic of it.
2019 JUST happened. Right?
All of us, Forever getting over 2020
I’m a NICU nurse and I SWEAR one of the babies’ favorite song is Peter
That waltz tempo!
The Best Day. The music video with the baby footage is the best hook.
Bad Blood, No Body No Crime
Who's Afraid of Little Old Me, Look what you made me do 😂
😂
Let‘s add Anti-Hero
I’ve found my people! Also Vigilante Shit! 😜
while he was doin liiines, and crossin all of miiine
Down Bad for sure.
Unironically, This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things Because you break them, I had to take them away.
I sing this to my kids but not in a lullaby way 😆
I'd sing this to future kids of mine!😂
maybe Guilty as Sin or Karma🤣😭
That’s chaotic good, chaotic bad would be Ronan 😬
Invisible string keeps coming to my mind
when my baby was tiny I sang her blank space in a slowed down lullaby melody. She’s three now and said “I don’t like Taylor swift” over and over the other day so I’m a little bummed but hoping it’s a short lived phase ha

evermore for sure!!
Jump Then Fall, Long Live, Robin, Never Grow Up But also, playing the piano covers on Spotify (or whatever app) too could be good for night time winding down! Also could be handy to have playing while you sing to them
These are the same exact songs I was about to comment lol
Ooo thank you guys for the suggestions! I’m putting together a playlist of all of them and then gonna practice singing them to see which ones I like best . 🌹 My girls liked Taylor Swift without any suggestion of mine, it’s a long story. I don’t think I’ve seen anyone mention it but “heysleepybaby” have a Spotify playlist for this called “The Taylor Swift Method”
Yes!!!
I Hate it Here is my lullaby to myself.
Long Live!
In no particular order: 1. Robin 2. Never Grow Up 3. The Best Day 4. Innocent 5. Clean 6. It's Nice To Have a Friend 7. Cardigan
Safe & Sound!! Or This Love :)
I actually hum a medley of Exile, Champagne Problems and Tolerate It to my 2 year old at bedtime. The lyrics aren’t very lullaby-ish but the low notes provide a very soothing vibration.
Willow💯💯💯 also how has no one said Carolina??
There is an instagram page I follow called heysleepybaby and she has a Spotify Playlist called The Taylor Swift Method. Lots of good ideas on there! Also good when you're on a long road trip or something and need your kids to fall asleep lol!
I have Never Grow Up and Lover (the one with Shawn Mendes, specifically) on my daughter’s nighttime playlist!!
I second this!!!
Daylight
I'm pregnant and sing this everyday on piano. Plan to sing it as a lullaby when my little girl is here.
Aww
run
Love this one
Never Grow Up and Safe and Sound for sure
Sweet Nothings!
Yes!! Such a beautiful and simple song 🎵
I sing my daughter Ours or Sparks Fly every night.
I've always sung Lover to my little guy. "And we'll always be this close, forever and ever" 🥹
Untouchable is a good song for bedtime cuz it’s so quiet. I love that song
No vigilante shit? Down bad?
I was literally just listening to You Are in Love, so that's what I'm going with
I sing Clara Bow to my daughter every night as I’m getting her ready for bed 🥰
My 5yo listens to TS instrumentals on Spotify to fall asleep, there are some beautiful arrangements that could definitely be sung as lullabies
Dorothea!
Right now thinking of Peter, probably cause Peter Pan is a meta bedtime story
My 6 month old is obsessed with Out of the Woods
“The Taylor Swift Method 👶🏼💤” on Spotify is my go to!
Epiphany!
'This is why we can't have nice things' !!!!!!! 😝 'Mommy I want a new phone!!!!' 'Sit down sweetie....I have a song for you'
Because you break them , I have to take them away😂😂
Clean.
My sister always told me she sang her son to sleep to Never Grow Up and it kinda does sound like its meant to be a lullaby
invisible string
Cardigans sound is great for that stuff. For a lullaby for a baby, the lyrics are mature, but just listening to the music, I think would be great.
There are lullaby versions of almost every Taylor song on Spotify
I sing Daylight, Last Great American Dynasty and All Too Well tmv to my little one often! Daylight was the first song I ever sang to him.
Wildest dreams!
I used to sing Getaway Car as a lullaby to my foster kittens every night 😂😂
I sing the song Lover but changed the word Lover to Snuggler. I also changed the line “and you’ll save all your dirtiest jokes for me” to “all of your silliest jokes”.
The prophecy
I think innocent could work well, it’s soft and slower while having sorta empowering lyrics
untouchable
My sister has a 5 month old and she sings Never Grow Up, Long Live and Fifteen to her a lot. Although baby seems to really like Champagne Problems but probably not the best lullaby for kids old enough to understand the words. My 3 year old niece likes listening to “the smallest man song” on repeat. We’re not quite sure why though…
Have you tried the piano covers by mimz piano? No words but love love love
My friend sings to her baby who’s afraid of little old me to fall asleep…. He’s a newborn but I mean if it works it works lol
its nice to have a friend from lover :)
You are in Love is halfway to a lullaby already (maybe skip a couple of the romantic lines though). It’s on my sleepytime playlist and sounds like the feeling of drinking a hot chocolate while looking at the stars with friends.
Willow has always given lullaby vibes to me. Robin from TTPD as well.
Safe and sound!!
Cowboy like me (clean) is one of my favorites! And it has the best melody for lullabies. Lover is great too.
Carolina, kind of a spooky soft tone but i love it! So soothing.
I was looking for someone to mention Carolina!! ♡♡
I’ve been doing loml and my son loves it
never grow up obviously
The Best day
Sparks fly, enchanted, today was a fairytale, love story, lover, there are more too but the lyrics may not match lullaby standards 😂because they’re more depressing than uplifting.
Speak now and the Best day
I used to sing I Knew You Were Trouble when I was taking care of a couple babies during the Red era 😂 Family suggested I sing to the babies and when I said I don’t know any lullabies they said anything works! They were right lol so my advice: literally anything if you just sing it in a lullaby voice!
State of Grace!
Eyes Open ✌🏼 even though a lullaby is meant for sleep LMAO
I sing August all the time, even though the lyrics are not a mother and son moment 😁 Sweet nothing is another favorite. I love the suggestions here!
Snow on the beach (without the swear words lol) 😭💖✨️🌠🌌🌉
People hate Robin so much they're not even shipping it here, but I am! It's perfect.
Robin!!! So underrated tbh, I think of my 3yo nephew every time I hear it though, it's beautiful.
State of Grace acoustic version
Epiphany !
There is an artist (Twinkle Twinkle Little Rock star) that creates lullaby versions of a lot of different bands and musicians. I think another one called Rockaby Baby has a Taylor version. I just know TTLRS’s version has 34 songs.
Sweet Nothing
There is a Spotify playlist called eversnore. 10/10 recommend
you are on your own kid!
The Lakes
I’m a nanny and my special song for my last kiddo (before he moved) was Sweet Nothing. 🫶
I feel like Clara Bow and Never Grow Up are so cute as lullabies!
Epiphany 💙
False God (if you ignore the lyrics)
Epiphany and Robin, would be good, I think. And safe and sound too, but someone already said it :)
Sweet Nothing and Peace
sweet nothing
Hoax, epiphany but it's not suitable for children 😅
This one's kind of a weird choice but champagne problems
If you search “The Taylor Swift Method” on Spotify there’s a whole playlist pre-made.
There's a playlist on Spotify called The Taylor Swift method for getting babies to sleep! You could try some of those.
Robin
Robin 🥰
seven and Carolina
The 1
Safe and Sound is the only right answer
spotify had a few playlists that I went off of!
Peter and Robin are great lullaby-sounding songs.
Labyrinth
ROBIN!!!
Clara Bow!
Gorgeous
I wanna say ME! 😭, it would be so good as a slow calming down lullaby song
