Paula Temple for her uncompromising in your face style. Electric Indigo for her pioneering work in the 90s. SPFDJ for her tight and modern track selection. Ellen Allien for her consistent performance over all these years.
She is a great DJ in terms of technical ability and managing the energy of the room. But what really does it for me is her track selection, I always discover something new and she’s not afraid to take risks
Cant believe I had to scroll down all the way here to see Aleja and Adriana. The always underrated. If they were Europeans or gringas they would be in everyone's radar smh. This list is pretty spot on.
Paula has dropped off a bit imo, she’s been doing hard techno since long before it blew up into what it is now but feel like she’s been dragged into the cheesy drop fest stuff that hard techno has become.
Gegen is an absolute classic tune though
Because many sound the same... but then sets like Awakenings 2017 and 2018 happen, or Kartharsis with Rebekah. The latter has fallen, too, even a bit earlier imho. Her sets got too "mushy" and kinda every track sounds compressend to death
Yeah I agree. I've not really listened to much of her stuff recently. But I was having a butchers the other day at some of her more recent stuff and was a bit surprised at what she was playing. Been around for years though. Used to be a regular on an old local techno radio show in Liverpool years ago.
A longgggg time ago in a video called “American Massive” Moonshine over America Tour with artists like CirezD, John Kelly, Carl Cox, Keoki, Micro, Frankie Bones, etc I remember hearing Mistress Barbara talking about how she used to be a drummer and how she loves her Beats & GROOVES! Shes such a badass!
Lucky enough to catch her in NYC. I think she’s going to take off. I fucking dig her sound and energy. That set of hers on SoundCloud at Sisyphos makes me breathe heavy
I guess I can use this thread for more, but two of my favorites are Black Girl / White Girl. Randomly found them in a playlist, no prior knowledge. Fun stuff
Blasha & Allatt for some of the best B2B action you'll ever witness, Dina Khashan, Dasha Rush, Shaleen, Uberkikz and, she's probably more "techno-adjacent", but Olympe4000 is great too
Doesnt look like Erika has been mentioned. Eris Drew too, then Elkka, dj Paulette, Gayle San, Hannah Holland, Azu Tiwaline, Lyric Hood, Nite Fleit, Nightwave, Terr, Deena Abdelwahad, Adiel, Veronica Vasicka, Louisahhh, Upsammy, Fantastic Twins,
The_tunegirl on insta does some great modular techno but never caught her live. Worth watching some vids.

Octo Octa, Paula Temple, Sama' Abdulhadi, Fatima Hajji, Ki/ki, Nakadia, Nicole Moudaber
Can someone tell me why there's so much hate for CDW? Is it just cuz she's mainstream now?
spfdj, sara landry, nur jaber, fatima hajji, kiki solvej, charlotte de witte, jowijane, jazzy, miss bashful, nancy live, daria kolosova, a.n.i, stella bossi, amelie lens, otta, slyvy maziarz, isabelle beaucamp
SPFDJ, Ayako Mori, Annē, Sandrien, Nastia and Ellen Allien.
The very few staying as true to the genre as they can but still are so unique in their own ways. I saw Sandrien play last year Sept. Nothing like it tbh. She's absolutely crazy.
I can only think of one atm, and its not even techno really (sorry, lol)
That said, I want to give a shoutout to Gyrofield. Watch some of her sets online, I think you guys will like it (Much faster, dnb-like tempo btw).
There's so many. Miss Djax is a big one that hasn't been mentioned yet.
I'll pay my respects to K-Hand here. Rest in peace Kelli. You'll always be a legend.
Also shout out to DJ Bus Replacement Service. Not sure you'd call her a techno DJ, but she plays techno and turns me in to a gigging idiot so she's on the list.
Lastly, Ixindamix. Not got to see her on the 1s and 2s but production-wise I'm all over her stuff like a bad rash.
Some of these may be playing a little loose with the term techno, but let’s say techno adjacent:
Paula Temple, Rebekah, Yazzus, Anne, SPFDJ, Grace Dahl, LAVEN, Maara, Roza Terenzi, Mabel, D Tiffany, Basshka, Taahliah, dogheadsurigeri, Ayesha, Vel, Anetha, DJ Fuckoff, Nina Kraviz (don’t come at me, her label is fire), Errortica, Valerie Ace, OTTA, Marie Davidson, Baby T, Nené H, Mama Snake, Flaminia, Somniac One, Cassie Raptor, Mor Elian.
That’s all I can think of rn.
Paula Temple for her uncompromising in your face style. Electric Indigo for her pioneering work in the 90s. SPFDJ for her tight and modern track selection. Ellen Allien for her consistent performance over all these years.

SPFDJ
She came to Perth a few month back and smashed it. Such a pleasure to watch her mix.
What do you like about her as an artist? Just curious
She is a great DJ in terms of technical ability and managing the energy of the room. But what really does it for me is her track selection, I always discover something new and she’s not afraid to take risks
Came here to say this! The way she manages the flow of the set is unmatched

Paula has dropped off a bit imo, she’s been doing hard techno since long before it blew up into what it is now but feel like she’s been dragged into the cheesy drop fest stuff that hard techno has become. Gegen is an absolute classic tune though
I love Paula but I don't know why she doesn't upload more of her sets.
Because many sound the same... but then sets like Awakenings 2017 and 2018 happen, or Kartharsis with Rebekah. The latter has fallen, too, even a bit earlier imho. Her sets got too "mushy" and kinda every track sounds compressend to death
