As a trans person, it's difficult. I can completely understand why someone might not want to, and their preference is totally okay and normal. As a straight guy, I wouldn't want do date anyone with a dick, so that rules out the vast majority of transfems my age, since surgery under 18 is illegal in my country. I can understand why a straight girl wouldn't want to date me, since I don't have a dick (currently), and there's nothing wrong with that.
What I think isn't okay is when you're attracted to a trans person, *INCLUDING* their body, but the only reason you're not dating them is because you don't want to be seem with a trans person. That being said, I think a large amount of people simply aren't attracted to the bodies that trans people have, since they don't have the equipment that you'd expect. That isn't trabsphobic, that's just who you're biologically attracted to. I can't make myself like dick, so I wouldn't date a pre-op transfem person as a trans guy.
There’s more to physical attraction than genitals. The shape of the body also matters in addition to differences in the face between members of both sexes.
There’s also many people who want to have biological kids which would not be possible with a trans person. You can surgically change the genitals, but you can’t implant a full female reproductive system.
As a bi guy I find people’s obsession with genitals weird, like why does it matter if a person you’re attracted to doesn’t have the genitals expected of them? I understand if the idea is to hookup, but if you’re just going for a relationship is it that important?
Ofc I get that there’s a preference because sex is a part of most adult relationships but that’s not what the point of a relationship is.
In my opinion the point of a relationship is being connected with and attracted to your partner, and I'm not attracted to individuals with that type of genitals, regardless of whether they're a guy or a girl. The lack of attraction is the reason I can't be in the relationship - I wouldn't say it's an "obsession", just something that would make a relationship difficult due to the lack of attraction. I can understand your view though.
for a lot of people (i'm just speaking based on what i've learned from others as an asexual) sex is an integral part of a relationship, so if two people are not sexually compatible that will weaken the romantic connection as well

A Fetish isn't a bad thing, the way people use the term actually devalues what it use to mean. Since you're self identified to be in the younger category, I imagine your primary exposure to the word "Fetish" is with uncommon things like "Foot Fetish" and then it's used as a form of bulling or teasing.
Fetish is literally an item or action that causes a level of control over you.
Over the years "Fetish" has been devalued to only mean sexual reasons that's either temporary or a kind of phase, or in other cases, weird and not normal.
In a modern example, some people find ponytails to be really attractive, or specific tops/t-shirts on others. Some people find uniforms attractive. In non-sexual examples, some people will see specific colors and stop and stare. For example, I have a fascination with the color Royal blue. When I see that on a car, I can't help but take a moment to appreciate it. Other people do this similarly when they see wildlife or other things that may make them stop and take a look.
In other, more traditional examples, a straight male who finds a women attractive, or a gay person who finds the same sex attractive does technically fall within the "Fetish" category. If you only find yourself being into trans people, that's technically a fetish, and that's okay.

I would be in a relationship once I know their plans to transition. I wouldn't mind if they choose to not get surgery or fully transition since I'm bi. I would have a problem if they only plan to partially transition since I don't think I would be very attracted to that unless we had a no-sex relationship.
