I got inf water bucket, manual, golden bug net, and golden rod in my first 40 times giving him the fish. Once I actually care about nice houses I'm giving him a decent place.
The introduction of Shimmer made getting the cellphone much easier, since it's easy to turn duplicate accessories into the ones you need.
Before 1.4.4, you'd run into situations where the Angler just would not drop that last accessory you needed.
I'd probably give the actual pirate a pirate ship, whereas the angler gets a fishing boat (or one made literally of a fish), but hey, whatever floats your boat
One thing I'd recommend is to look at some master builders and how they use slope their blocks. DO NOT COMPARE YOUR BUILDS TO THEIRS. It'll just make you feel worse about your own builds. Just take inspiration if you can from them. If you work on your block and paint palettes, maybe also take inspiration from those master builder's block and paint palettes.
