It’s not sparks it’s muzzle flash. I also don’t think blanks would cause enough muzzle rise to send the AK flailing about like it did but I could be wrong. I shot blanks regularly years ago and my memory is trash but I don’t remember them having much of a recoil.

Live ammo will do this too, it's called a muzzle flash and it can vary a lot from weapon, specific confic of the muzzle and even ammo used
