The Exped is a hybrid foam/air. This allows you to have control of the firmness by putting in more air or letting some out. It also rolls into a smaller space than a foam mattress. And it easily fits in the frunk or sub-trunk.
But at nearly $400, it ain't cheap.
Do you sleep solo or couple? If couple, do you notice that the mattress is air filled? We are trying to decide between an air mattress or a foam mattress

Yes, it gets a little cold in the winter time, so I would choose to do this in the spring or fall, or cover up more.
My challenge was that there's a bend in the "floor" and the mattresses are usually 1-2" of memory foam.
It's one of the reasons I dream of an R1S though I hardly car camp so...
How long can the car stay warm in freezing temps? I goto ski resorts a lot and sometimes if it’s by myself and I just want to shred for a few days im trying to just sleep/or camp in the car. Currently waiting for a LR vin# and also thinking of picking up a cheap old SUV and slap some winter/all terrain tires just for that purpose if the MYLR isn’t up to the task.
80% when he got there? That seems high. I don't know the elevations involved but if you drive up a mountain you might expect a lower battery BUT get to recoup much of that energy on the way back down so running it to 20% would be no issue if there was charging available at the lower elevation.
There’s a YouTube video of him filming the whole process. TLDR, he charged up to 80 at the top then went on camp mode once he got to his site which seemed like a short distance away.
No shot he’s gonna get up there with 80% 🤣 the cold alone will knock it down to at least 30%
With tissues? Homie is just bringing his masturbation cave to the office.
Currently waiting for the REI sale to get the Exped Megamat. The summer in Texas is brutal and it'll be in the 80s at night.
I just checked, but the Exped website says it’s available at our local REIs. If it’s actually in stock, that’s a different thing…
I don't think REI carries the TXY/Auto. I'm looking at the regular Megamat Duo.
This? https://www.rei.com/product/113720/exped-megamat-duo-10-sleeping-pad
Yeah the medium double fits the Model Y well from what I've heard.
Twin?
Slightly wider than a twin.
How comfortable is sexual activities once the hatch is closed?
Plenty of room for sexual activities. Wait, are you asking solo or couple or more?
Lmao I don't know if that's the joke, but I don't think they're asking if there's space to masturbate solo.
Depends on the position. Some partake in a standing position, which I assume would not be feasible.
Depends how big you are too... Lol
Idk about the seats going down and all that, but I got a blowie the other night in the back seat and there’s plenty of room for two positions max
Asking the real questions
Also, height of OP.
Much easier in a Y than a 3
What about 3 in a Y?
3 what though
...some
What the...
The roof gives a good reflection 🤣
And wipes clean easily... Lol 😆
Better than the 3, that rear window shelf takes a lot of things off the menu, pressures creativity
You haven't used your Tesla to its fullest capacity if there aren't footprints on the glass roof 😆
That escalated quickly...
If your 5’11 or taller not the best but below that you good
This guy thinking 2 people can fit
I did this for a big road trip I took in early January. Worked like a charm.
cant wait to use mine for taking naps during lunch!!!!
do you work at twitter? no more beds in the conference room?
Looks comfy! What mattress did you use? I'm going to gear up for some family car camping this season.
I have the Exped TXY. Expensive but very nice.

Tesmat seems like a good option. Foam and folds down into your subtrunk.
Thanks for the F-shack. -Dirty Mike n the bois
Do your feet get cold during the winter? I've watched a YouTuber camp in it and he complained about that.

I really wish the rear seats laid flat, I kept sliding down in the night
Here is how you can build a flat platform back there: https://kilowatt.page/200-diy-bed-for-tesla-model-y/
I’ve seen someone use RV leveling pads under the rear wheels to try and address this. Wondering if it works well.

Ooo right the bend in the middle. Must be exaggerated when side sleeping. Oh well, guess we can’t take all the character building out of camping.

A thick blanket underneath works just fine, too

Do you have any recommendations?

Dude took his Y in -15 up my Mount Rushmore, went from 80% down to 20% after 12 hours. Said the interior temp was 60 the whole time

At 5’11” I find that my feet knock on the rear hatch when fully stretched out.
Short people always showing off where they fit…
Makes no difference, I am tall and I fit in both short and tall people just the same.
Buying the tesla instead of paying for rent?
Living in it and eating ramen more like it
You can also buy foam pads from Home Depot and they work just as good and they’re cheaper
So basically it’s for you to watch p**n when taking a break from work 😉🥵
Where did you get the mattress from ?
Ask engineers still working at Twitter.
You would make George proud!
