First time posting so I'm not sure how to add text and photos at the same time. Stay tuned for break down of what I did to the car and why. BROTHER owns an auto detailing shop in OC and I used to work for him so I did some of the work myself.
Edit:
-Expel Stealth full car
-Opticoat pro plus full car
-Expel tinted ppf on headlight, fog light and tail lights (I forgot to apply it to the lower reflectors under the tail light)
-Expel Prime XR Plus: 70% windshield, 35% driver and front passenger, 20% rear passengers, 55% sunroof and 35% hatch
-Front lip: not sure what brand ppf I used. Saw a roll laying around so I used it. It's clear ppf with forged composition ppf underneath. It was a pain to do the bulk install for this cause I couldn't see where I was cutting. Front lip black out is ppf sitting on top of Stealth ppf. Probably overkill.
-Sideview mirror and camera: 3M carbonfiber vinyl on top of Expel Stealth.
-Red emblems were oem metal ones that my brother sanded down and painted. I initially bought black carbon fiber emblem and the T E S L A letters but my brother convinced me to do red instead. I like the red a lot better.
-windows coated with opticoat window coating.
Interior I'd coated with some random brand of leather protectant that he had laying around. I literally just grabbed it and applied. Turns out, he's never used it before and it was a sample that was given to him from a supplier. I don't remember what it was but I'm pretty thrilled with it so far.
I still want to put a MYP spoiler on the rear and powder coat the break calipers. But that's going to have to wait until I have more time.
So a couple reasons why I decided to have all that done to the car:
1. Family discount (almost free minus material cost and food for his team)
2. PPF is a no-brainer for me because of my freeway driving. Front end ppf with Stealth looks funny.
3. In laws have about 4 other white model Y's and I just want to look a bit different
4. Ceramic Coat on ppf makes life easier when it comes to cleaning. I typically use ONR and optiseal once a week or 2. If I go longer than 3 weeks without washing, I'll bring out the pressure washer.
It's oem that was sanded down and spray painted and coated with a matte finish and then ceramic coated over. Plastidip would give the same look without being permanent.
I'm honestly not sure. But when I was working for him 4 years ago, $500 to $1200 depending on longevity of coating. I'm sure a 7 year coating has gone up considerably
Thanks! They're the Basenor mudflaps on Amazon. Holding up pretty well but I live in socal. No snow or mud. I clicked on the order I made but it keeps showing the model 3 version. Not sure if I purchased it and it somehow fit or they're no longer selling the MY version. Good luck!
It looks great! Iām doing some of the same things for my MY whenever I get itā¦tinted headlights and taillights, blacking out the lip and red emblems. Iām glad itāll look as awesome as I imagined. :)
Glad I'm able to get you visuals! I have a satin finish on the white. Difficult to notice in certain lighting. Car definitely looks best under cloudy skies
I am also looking for a brother with a detailing business that will work for food and cost of materials. Are there any out there reading this from Virginia??

Red emblem looks awesome š Can you share the link to the product?

Wow, that's a lot of work... No wonder they look so much better than the stick-on's
Please donāt put black spoilers to make a non performance MY look like itās a performance. Itās just incredibly tacky imho.
Looks fire. How much does the ceramic coating usually run?
I'm honestly not sure. But when I was working for him 4 years ago, $500 to $1200 depending on longevity of coating. I'm sure a 7 year coating has gone up considerably
Looks nice
You might wanna hide your license plate in your picture.
Hey your MY looks sweet! May I know what your mud flaps are?
Thanks! They're the Basenor mudflaps on Amazon. Holding up pretty well but I live in socal. No snow or mud. I clicked on the order I made but it keeps showing the model 3 version. Not sure if I purchased it and it somehow fit or they're no longer selling the MY version. Good luck!

very cool! I've always thought satin finish looks great with the white paint
Where did you get those badges? Or are those plastidip?
They're oem tesla emblems that were sanded, primed and painted red. Plastidip would be less permanent but doesn't last as long
Looks awesome. Were the light tints recut or did you cut?
They're dyed ppf from Expel. Bulk install on the entire car so nothing was precut.
I am also looking for a brother with a detailing business that will work for food and cost of materials. Are there any out there reading this from Virginia??

Any visibility impairment at all with the 20% tint on the already darkened privacy glass of the back windows/rear?
No issues but it is noticably darker. Ceramic does a good job blocking IR and UV without sacrificing visibility.
