Ceramic coat sucks vs rocks. PPF on front bumper and hood is very helpful. That is unless you never drive fast and you don't drive on roads where they salt. My front bumper got wrecked by a salt truck :/. Like 20 small holes.
Second comment: Going to my 8th month with mine. No PPF, No Ceramic coat…. Only rock chip I’ve had was straight on the windshield!

Don't worry about ppf. I thought about getting it but the price doesn't justify the benefit.
I'm planning on just touching up the rock chips when the time comes. You won't even notice it once it's done and it does not affect future resale value. 99% buyers don't care about this, especially if you touch it up. Super easy to do. Only noticeable if you look super close and kneeling down.

Car washes are actually needed unless you’re a dirt ball, ppf on the other hand is not needed, especially not at $8k a pop. I have owned cadillacs and jeeps that after 3 years of heavy use still looked like new without ppf. Now Im not going to tell anyone how to spend their hard earned money, but I certainly would not spend it on ppf

My guess is that if dropping 6-8k on PPF doesn't bother you, that money wasn't particularly hard to earn or come by lol. If it's a month's salary, or more, then you start to actually consider the cost-benefit analysis XD
PPF the lower rear rockers at minimum, model y kicks a ton of rocks at itself right there because it flares outwards. Easy to do yourself but you’ll have to remove the ceramic coating for PPF to stick though.
Look up pics of what that rear rocker without PPF looks like after awhile and decide for yourself if you want to prevent that
depends on whats acceptable to you. Mudflaps definitely help a lot but still won’t prevent everything. PPF if you need complete prevention of rock chips

I got mine wrapped and just noticed today about half a dozen Little Rock dings in the front bumper in about 2 months. It never even occurred to me for any of the other cars I’ve had. I live in the city and it’s like the front is some kind of rock magnet.
PPF yellows and gets nicks so which is worse? It also starts to peel, it was applied before I got my car at 7 months so I leave it, but I would just get the bumper sprayed if needed.

No. The brand for that looks to be… “Generic”. That was a true risk because it had zero reviews and one picture that doesn’t show much. But it was a risk that came with high reward. Maybe I should leave them one
Not sure but I ended up getting plastidip based on a billion videos on YT. I just did 3 light coats and 3 heavy coats. Peeled up beautifully without intervention from a toothpick, except for the middle of the letters. 10 mins between coats and 30 mins after last coat before peeling.
You can honestly go with less coats since I was doing pink for my wife’s MY…wanted it to really come through.

Yes - took delivery mid Feb and have this issue. Overall less road noise than my 2020 M3 but more of this specific wind noise - passengers have asked me twice to roll the windows up when the music is off.
I have a service appointment on Monday. Had a door ding on delivery I didn’t see until outside in my driveway. I’ll add the wind noise to my ticket. I have read others have had the windshield replaced and it fixed the problem. We will see
After mechanic confirmed the wind noise during test drive, he said they’re gon take out the windshield and I think the glass roof and reseal it or something. Got the car back after 2 days

I used to complain about the ride quality on my 22 MYP, specifically in NY city deplorable condition streets…. But then I look at it and how good it looks with those rims, and how much faster it is vs MYLRs, then my regrets go away instantly. Enjoy your ride and don’t forget to floor it when bored!

I think it’s a regret that every guy will have when they settled for a LR due to practicality, ride quality, or even price. We all know they will imagine, “what if I had the performance…” zero regrets here. Thinking about those trunk covers too

2020 Nissan LEAF, I’ve had a Porsche 911 and Audi A5 before.. none of which I would complain about. Porsche was stiff in sport mode. Probably want softer than that. LEAF is a bit floaty but comfy. Mercedes E350 was too soft too.
I test drove a MYLR with 20” wheels and that was absolutely fine.
I see you are a big ev guy. Yes the suspension will be more sporty and stiffer. But I really don’t think it’s bad as they say it is. It still gives you more confidence behind the wheel

Nice! Consider PPF for the front and the rear section in front of the rear wheels - what i have found out is the 2023 Tesla Y paint is weak - Ive had it for two weeks and already have some pitting in the back of the car in front of the rear wheels.
I really really believe Tesla should be forced to provide compensation (i.e. cost of mudguards and the PPF for that back section) because clearly the design of the front wheel well is going to throw debris to the back flared fenders. This would only add $100 to the cost the car but would save the inevitable damage.
Based on this, I had someone install PPF today in the front of the car (bumper, hood, lights etc) - it aint cheap, but I gurantee that front paint job is gonna get trashed over the next few years.
im going to contact my lawyer friend, but i think that since Telsa forces us to agree to arbitration, there is little chance of class action, on the other hand if it can be proven that tesla knew, or should have known given their expertise in autos, then we would have a shot a class action based on fraud.
I will suggest to buy a precut PPF and put it yourself. It’s easy to install, just need a garage. It might not be perfect when you install it but it worth trying it. Might help on those rocks and chips
I took the myp out first, loved it apart from the ride. Wanted to take it out again just to check for the last time if I can live with it, but they only had an lr at the time.
Lr seemed to be softer but that punch was not there.
So I m now back to not knowing which one to go for.

Close to 7 months and 5k miles of NJ driving here too and the paint looks great despite a couple of chips. No big deal and we'll probably just correct those with touch up paint.

So the issue if you test it out and then get dents or chips, it’s that much more frustrating to get it done and looking right. I am doing full ppf on mine cause I unfortunately don’t have a garage and have cats that like to climb on the cars I my neighborhood.
I went with 45 on the windshield and roof with 15 on the sides and rear. Really enjoy it as it allows privacy during supercharging, and the roof tint isn't dark enough to stop me from enjoying the view.
The downside to the front windshield being as dark as it is, people can not see if there is someone in the car. Just hands on top of the steering wheel if they notice. Makes for a few awkward car/pedestrian encounters in parking lots as people don't see you wave them across and can't see your eyes to confirm you have seen them before walking across.
Still wouldn't change anything, I live in SoCal and my interior will get about 5-10 degrees above ambient while parked in the sun.

Yes. Standard comes silver. Those I had to remove and replace with Amazon ones.

Plastidip is so easy, it’s criminal. Tape up border, cover surrounding with supermarket ads and do 6 coats.

Wow I believe it. Tesla really needs to upgrade their paint quality. Almost everyone pays extra for ppf that cost like 10-15 % of the car.

It's a bit stiffer than the LR but it is expected due to the need of steering. But not as bad as they say it is. I prefer it over the roll over feel.

I went with 45 on the windshield and roof with 15 on the sides and rear. Really enjoy it as it allows privacy during supercharging, and the roof tint isn't dark enough to stop me from enjoying the view. The downside to the front windshield being as dark as it is, people can not see if there is someone in the car. Just hands on top of the steering wheel if they notice. Makes for a few awkward car/pedestrian encounters in parking lots as people don't see you wave them across and can't see your eyes to confirm you have seen them before walking across. Still wouldn't change anything, I live in SoCal and my interior will get about 5-10 degrees above ambient while parked in the sun.

Woo.... so not an expert but I used regular car was soap and soaked it. Once soften I used a towel and slight pinch of my finger nails. Worked for me
