Model 3 after 5 years and model Y going 2 years strong still bring the same joy as week one.

dantastik5

Just traded in my 2018 model 3 for a model y. I loved driving the model 3 right up to the point where I turned over the key cards. The cars are just fun

one_dayatatime

The model 3 is more fun to drive, but the Y is so much easier to get in and out of.

dantastik5

Absolutely, the Y is also quieter inside and handles speed bumps better.

KeyChampionship8133

Is this before or after the M3 refresh? I’ve read the refresh is a much quieter ride after the refresh.

dantastik5

Before, I had one of the first versions from 2018

DifficultScientist23

Yup. And pack things into. It holds enough stuff and people that it makes me wonder what a slightly bigger version could do for me. I drive my car for rideshare and liked it so much I bought a second MYLR about 4 mos after the first. I wish I had a real third row but that's a MUCH much bigger vehicle (think Tahoe or Suburban) OR the cargo area gets crushed to nothing. Can't have everything we want but can have everything we need.

Pristine_Cricket_633

Big selling point for me.

LiquidTide

77K miles on my early build MY and still look forward to getting behind the wheel every day.

No_Supermarket_3683

6 years with Model 3 and only 4 months with Model Y, but they both still bring tremendous joy to us daily.

Life_Objective

Still love it every day. Great car.

theabsurdnick

I’m just a week in with my MYP. Finding reasons to leave the house so I can drive 😅

calidude238

Me too! I volunteer to do every errand, pickup/drop-off!

TheChancellor_2

It doesn’t go away! Just a fun car to drive in general! Have fun and drive the speed limit

EmphasisFew

Lol same

teesus18

This is me too! I always ask my wife if she wants to take it when she goes out too lol I’m on day 31 and I still love driving it. People in my area have a staring problem but otherwise all smiles for me

Ok-Honeydew7380

Lmao…..same here!!!!

k9eh

July will be 1 year in my MYP. Just turned 19,000 miles. Five road trips ( 500 to 3000 miles). Camped at Airventure. My face still hurts from smiling.

BillySpaceDust

Six months in. Still love it. Yesterday I made my full family scream like they were on a roller coaster when I took it off chill and slammed it. My car is named Sir Fartsalot.

No_Difference_8662

I named mine Jarvis from the first iron man lol

Notoriuzjdr

It's 95 degrees, the simple fact I can schedule the car to be cool when I leave the lab is reason enough for me to love this car forever.

N8Howell33

Honestly it never fully goes away. Having updates and the ability to drive without all the "drive fatigue" never gets old! 7 years in for me

leezer999

If you get bored with your Tesla just go drive an ICE car for an hour. It’ll be like heaven going back.

LiquidTide

Rented a new Audi A5 the other day while out of town (wife likes looks of Audi). It felt so ... obsolete.

ComplexIllustrious61

All ICE vehicles will feel antiquated once you own an EV. My cousin has a Mercedes S580 and even though it's a stunningly good car, I feel my EV is far better. Can't really compare.

cymplicity27

I was given a ICE loaner when waiting on repairs after someone backed into my Model Y. Here I thought “at least it’s a Charger”. Worst. Week. Ever. My saving grace was hubby has a Model 3. I got emotional and hugged my car when I picked her up 🥹

No-Share1561

This sounds truly pathetic.

Nitro187

I'm glad you deleted what you were gonna post then.... why even post this comment then?

No-Share1561

Go hug your car and call it a her.

Nitro187

I think most people do - it's not a gender thing, it's a baked in to peoples minds as something they trust, as you should trust your mother, and your female spouse.

No-Share1561

I don’t know anyone who calls their car a she. It’s a thing, or an it. Or just “my car”. But maybe it’s an American thing?

calidude238

Hoping wife will give green light to jump from her ICE sedan to Model 3!!

Kappokaako02

Tried to during the lease deal last month but her ICE lease was 10k under water still. Meh!! Gotta wait lol

Any_Remote931

I’m having this same thought after taking delivery on MYLR RWD a few days ago but the idea of two car payments is stopping me dead in my tracks. We’ve only ever really carried one at a time.

saregister

6 months, 12000 miles in and I love it every day. Sound system is awesome. Everything is just smooth. And when I jump off the line and get to 60 in 3.6 seconds I grin like a kid on Christmas. I also giggle a little bit every time I walk away and it plays the Halo shield recharge sound that I programmed...

[deleted]

Okay. Wait. I need that last part.

Dizzy_Reflection9451

How did you do this??

saregister

https://youtube.com/shorts/zkt4CLQdG1g?si=47as1eiOVvPIsiwv I didn't remember where I found the file for the actual sound, but a Google search will handle that for you. I had to turn up the amplitude to max in the audio editor I used so that it was loud enough on the car.

Khoover917

My joy only died when I saw the value and price absolutely tank after I already bought it at 2022 prices 😩 other than that, I love it!

trifster

ugh i do feel for you 2022 buyers of any car. rough market.

LeatherIcy

It went down 15k (!!!) but I still LOVE mine 2 years later!

fredl0bster

Man, everyone was getting fucked in 2022

ptronus31

The regular updates keep it fresh and new-feeling.

dawg_with_a_blog

The new screen layout is 🔥

Train2Perfection

I bought a MYP. My wife asked my brother when the excitement about the car wears off, he said it doesn’t. Driving ICE cars after owning one just reinforces the decision even more. Before purchasing I asked a bunch of Tesla owners their thoughts and got an almost cult like response about how great they were, I kept wondering what they weren’t telling me. While there is an adjustment period from ice to ev, I now understand the enthusiasm Tesla owners have.

Eternal-Valley

Over a year and enjoy the MYLR.

Itwasaboutthepasta

Bought in November. I drive 180 miles a day for work. This car is so great for that commute. Charge overnight. Let it drive to work. It's a dream.

oviekid17

That’s an insane commute. I hope you get hella paid for all that traveling!

Itwasaboutthepasta

I do well for myself. I used the commute cost as a factor to as for more when I was given the job offer.

Moosholanut

MYLR since March 25, and still have stars in my eyes. Just wish it had the cream interior option the X and S have as I would’ve jumped on it but I’m a satisfied owner!

ISayMemeWrong

I've had mine a year. When my 4 year old says "so a go daddy go" and then squeals and giggles from the back seat as I floor it, I'm still in honeymoon phase. When my older kid wants to play in it, or play in it with a friend over with music, games, watching movies...I'm still in honeymoon phase. I'm in a rental car every week (except 3) in 2023 for travel, some of them are high end, and I've yet to find one I would rather have than my MYP.

Used_Owl3385

First one was a model 3 and after a few years switched to a Y, and the smiles/mile just keep getting better. Personally I find no difference in paint quality on my Teslas than any Toyota or GM before that I ever owned. I also look at various brand cars in parking lots, paint and gaps etc.. Not saying some aren't actually seeing deficiencies so I hear the complaints but don't see it, making me wonder if most of it is FUD and over-expectations (like on many other things when people compare Tesla to other mainstream vehicles). Tesla is pretty much universally held to higher standards. Tesla... the brand most loved to hate.🧐

DragonDrama

Recently hit 3 years and still love it. Mine is a company car so we replace at 3 years and I think I’m going to get another one. MYLR

Ok-Concentrate943

Day 26 of my MYLR, still very much deep in the honeymoon phase, I have only driven it for 500 miles and yet to discover a lot of the features in the car.

Sea_Dish3090

We got out in November and still love it. 15k miles and everything has been great. Lots of storage, very practical and fun to drive

GeneralMorse94558

I’m a year in. Empty nest. White seats no eating aloud. But if you want to put it in sport mode and pull some Gs go for it. I smile every single time I drive it still. I love the car so much.

SimplyDaniiii

How are the white seats holding up from jeans?

GeneralMorse94558

Well no new jeans allowed yet. I’m pretty particular about that. But a friend has the white seats and kids. He said his driver seat was more discolored than the rest because of his jeans 🤣

Even-Fault2873

I wish they could do a 2 tone type of seat…dark on the bottom and white on the upper.

SimplyDaniiii

But with those rules no discoloration?

GeneralMorse94558

A year in and nothing so far (knock on 🪵

SimplyDaniiii

All right, well I just switched my configuration to white seats. Hopefully, I don’t regret it. I might buy like a little seat cushion or something just because I do wear jeans quite often. I wonder if people do that?

itsdrewagain

I believe purchasing my Model Y Performance exactly a year ago was a solid choice. I enjoy the speed and the updates, but the build and ride quality nag me. The squeaks, etc. If it weren’t for that and a smoother ride, I’m not sure the honeymoon phase would wear off. It’s worth what I paid for it. Thankful I didn’t pay 2022 prices.

Zestyclose_Load3425

100% agree - I have a 2024 MYLR and like it but it could use improvement in both ride quality and cabin noise / sounds. Fix these and they have a wonderful vehicle in my opinion.

iwantthisnowdammit

Just at 6 months, more satisfied than where I bought it. This month’s headlight update was a nice touch

Weekly-Ad-7719

Day 4, I drive everywhere now, my wife’s car hasn’t moved!

M3P_STEALTH

It does not go away, 2 Y household.

trifster

3 years M3SR and last month got a QS MYLR. omg i was in love with the 3 and the Y is even better. if you think FSD is mid, should have tried it 3 years ago. i was able to sneak in during an onboarding period on ‘21 the bought a month in 22 and 23. V12 (12.3.6) is light years better. i would describe it (v11) as babysitting a drunk 16 yro. now i think is like supervising an adult taking a student drivers test.

jenajibi

3 years last week on my Model Y honeymoon and I still smile every time I drive it.

WhoopDareIs

It doesn’t end.

Friendly_Leader_340

1 year in… still smile every time I pass a gas station.

Single-Professor-886

It’s been 4 months since I got mine…still love driving it. I was reticent about the quality before purchase but so far had no issues whatsoever so ever. Subpar FSD and curb rash is something I had to accept. Free 3 month FsD trial really helped me realize that it was not for me. It was cool for few days but found my self disabling it more and more. Anyway worth the $100 a month if you want to activate once in a while for long trips but not worth the 8 grand they charge for FSD….wondering what others here thinks about FSD. How was your experience with it ?

calidude238

Pretty much echo what you said. I’ve had to take over too many times. FSD is like a student driver taking the DMV test. I’ve had to take over too many times to make it worth activating in the first place.

AJHenderson

I use FSD all the time but had the misfortune of buying it outright 4 months before the price drop, so I paid $4000 for 1 month of FSD. Still super happy with it though. It works great around me and rarely requires anything more than an accelerator press or a turn signal to intervene.

Mean-Marionberry-148

My family has 2 ‘21 Y LR AWDs. They were ordered the same day and picked up one week apart. For one of them, the honeymoon phase ended on day 11 (and 809 miles) of ownership when we went to get in the car and it was dead. Couldn’t open the doors or get any response from the app. Called Tesla and they were like “your 12V battery is dead, sorry you didn’t get any kind of alerts.” They sent mobile service out who discovered a short in the rear drive motor had caused the 12V battery to die. The car ended up having to be towed 150 miles to the nearest service center. That’s when the big issues started. After a week of being unable to get anyone at the service center to answer, I finally drive all the way there and discovered the car sitting in the lot with the frunk still popped up and the 12V wires hanging out of the tow hook area. I go in to the service center and they say they didn’t realize the car was there. Back at this time when the car was dead the Tesla app service tab wouldn’t work. They’ve since changed that I believe. Anyway, it ended up taking 5 weeks to get the rear drive unit replaced and back on the road. When they brought the car back to us the service center had lost the key card we had given them and didn’t bother to program a new one for us. Another annoyance. Since then we’ve had a lot of issues with both of the Ys. They’re now 3.5 years old and both have had control arms replaced (one was just done at 53K miles out of warranty and the invoice was $2200). We’ve also had issues with window motors, the tailgate stopped opening right on both of them, HVAC issues, etc. My Model 3P seemed to have been built better than the Ys.

Ok-Lengthiness1399

Sounds like a nightmare. I just test drove a MYLR and Tesla won’t stop calling, texting and emailing me to buy one (which was expected), but being well aware of the non-existent service, along with the monopoly on repairs (now a class action law suit pending for this reason), makes me hesitate.

Zestyclose_Load3425

Wow, that is horrible. I hate that it is difficult to contact the Tesla location directly. It’s a bit of hit or miss which is very frustrating. I can understand why you are not high on Tesla. If I had a similar experience, I would be looking to sell mine immediately. Hopefully things are getting better?

Mean-Marionberry-148

Tbh the service centers have only gotten worse in my experience over the last several years. Tesla has done very little to expand their service network but sold 100,000s of additional cars. Many service centers now have to use overflow parking lots for customer cars because there’s so many people needing to get repairs made but so few service center locations. It’s quite stupid to me they still do tire rotations or dedicate mobile service to doing that when it adds a lot of extra work for little money and just clogs up service centers from being able to address the people who have non-driveable or more urgent repairs.

calidude238

Thanks for sharing your experience and I’m sorry you had a poor quality Y.

Zestyclose_Load3425

I‘ll be honest, I like my model Y but am not in love with it. Things I like: acceleration, sound system, software updates (generally improve something on the vehicle), navigation system, voice command, charging network, general vehicle technology, clean running, seats are pretty comfortable but would prefer the perforated and cooled seats as in the new 3. Things I don’t like: noisy cabin - rattles, harsh ride. Fix these and feel they would have a wonderful vehicle. I know it‘s a personal preference but I like a quiet, smooth ride. It is relaxing and gives me a feeling I am in a well built vehicle. Rattles drive me crazy and find my 2024 Model Y has it’s fair share of rattles which makes for a noisy cabin. I see there are aftermarket kits of shocks and springs to soften and smooth the ride a bit. It also helps with cabin noise. Why doesn’t Tesla incorporate something like this along with more cabin insulation? They have to know that people complain about rattles. Insulation is not expensive and is generally lightweight but it could certainly help improve the cabin noise. I look forward to the updated Y and hope they incorporate some of the features they did in the new Model 3 plus more.

calidude238

Thanks for sharing the pros and cons. This is helpful because I too have random rattles. What id like to see moving forward from tesla is to offer more options for the car. I bought some after market accessories such as a moonroof shade to protect us from the scorching summer heat. But damn couldn’t Tesla offer an option to upgrade to a panaramic moonroof motorized shade?? Hopefully the refresh and future releases have more options for buyers

Accomplished_Cap_994

I love most things but the "leather" seats are plastic and there is enough rattling in the vehicle that combined with any bumpy roads really takes away from the drive quality. FSD not worth it unless you are doing a lot of driving. Otoh unexpected things I like are being able to park at the beach with no engine running and AC just barely on enough to emulate a soft breeze. Doesn't really use much battery. Sound system is great - maybe not compared to high end luxury, but it is good enough. Depending on the price you paid I think it's a pretty good value though.

HogarthHughesGiant

6 mos in and still jump at the chance to get out for a quick drive somewhere

Zarko291

Model 3 is 3 years old. Love driving that car

Forward-Engineer-206

4 months MYLR, still in it!

-throughline-

437 days

iRockDirtyVans

So impressed with my Model Y I reserved a CyberTruck. It’s $250 and fully refundable so no loss.

Zestyclose_Load3425

Sat in a Cybertuck that was at the Tesla store. The back seats are rock hard. Don’t know anything else about the vehicle but my impression was not so great!

iRockDirtyVans

They’ll definitely make improvements from the initial release. I don’t expect them to fulfill my reservation for the CyberTruck until 2026.

TheLarlagar

I’m on my second MY so there’s that. I went (briefly) back to BMW and immediately regretted it.

Influxlve

3 years in total had a 21 MYLR then got a 22 MYP. Love the damn thing, just wish it had ventilated seats! I’ll be definitely trading mine in whenever “juniper” releases. I’m at 58k miles in 2 years on my 22 MYP.

aartif

Bought in Feb, yea honeymoon period is over long time ago. Especially after the 0.99% interest rate :)

AJHenderson

If it makes you feel better, I bought FSD outright on my wife's myp in November when they had 3 months free. The price dropped $4000 4 months later, so I paid $4000 for 1 month of FSD but the honeymoon is still strong.

Rusty_Racoon

7 months and don’t regret at all.

TeslaCamper007

1 year in and i still get excited to drive it!

tojohvnn4556

Anytime I returned the rentals at the airport and pick up my MY, feels like a brand new car all over again, I hate ICE

natalieland14

Today marks two weeks since I picked up my MYP. I completely get what you’re saying! Minus the kids eating in the car. There is no freaking way. I’m letting them eat anything in my car!

InnocentApple

Still have the same joy as day 1, 9 months on with my Model Y. :)

antihedger

Day 5 kinda regret trading in my model 3. I miss the nimbleness and lower seating. Hoping I get used to this heavier/higher Y and if not I’ll trade it in for the juniper m3.

cymplicity27

I feel the opposite driving my husband’s Model 3. It feels like a go cart in comparison it’s so low and I miss the sound in my MY. Still 100x better than driving an ICE car though.

BrightIntroduction29

I still touch it

bpon89

‘20 MYLR 75k miles and a ‘23 MXP 19k miles, wife drives my Y with some mods, I just drove it last weekend and it’s still awesome. It’s more nimble and handles better than my MXP.

Pro_Procrastinator_4

Day 2 and from whatever little I have explored so far, i miss blind spot indicator chime. That was one of my most favorite features on my old car. Now i have to get used to relying on visual cues rather than audio cues.

cymplicity27

You get used to it. That took me awhile too.

Snoo85977

10 months and still loving it.

IROAman

About 3 days. Really. Can’t stand the Y and regret not getting another MS.

bidextralhammer

I am on 37k miles across two '22 MYP and love the car.

acircleda

Going g on 2 years. Still in it.

AJHenderson

We're 8 months in and still going strong and eagerly and somewhat impatiently awaiting our second Tesla. (Have a MYP that we use as the family car/my wife's car, getting the new M3P for my daily.

pkitch

4 years, MYP, still love it.

European_Ape

1 year in, still in honeymoon!

Robocup1

1 year in, still looking for any excuse for a quick trip in the car. Need tomatoes- I will go. Miss your dad? Let’s visit him now! Summer heat might be a deterrent in the next couple months.

Advanced-Hunt7580

Bought my Model Y in 2020, still love it, best car I've ever driven.

AtcJD

Love my MY 2 months in. It’s nice how many accessories you can get for it. Only thing missing is CarPlay and I’m waiting on delivery for a pass through. Can’t wait.

waitwutok

Inadequate FSD?  Most cars have no self driving features at all.

calidude238

Good point. Nitpicking on FSD but at this moment I’m not ready for IT. I enjoy driving so I’ll patiently wait for FSD updates.

Rasmus_DC78

i think in 2021 the joy was removed instantly, because of the poor quality of my M3LR 2021 (the facelift) it was a freemont car, and the fun part is, i constantly had a service waiting in the 2 years i had this car, and it was really bad from the start. but i think at some point i had 2 months without an issue, and i kinda started to really like it again. with the MYP from Berlin i had had 0 problems for the first 8 months. i like my car, i like the color.. but something is just missing, its fast, but it is not really the best long trip driver.. i kinda at times miss my older cars.. and wished i had just gone EQE (the Sedan) or today the I5 Touring.. to get the "fast" but also feeling of luxury, but i like the car.. but for me it is "a" car, i do at times get this.. "ohhh" feeling like with the matrix headlights update here in EU, or the new UI.. it is nice to have a car, that.. just gives you a bit extra from time to time. Although i hate that the Tesla apparently puts me in a Group of people that are "tesla fanboys" so Tesla people get angry if you say negative things about the car, and non Tesla People thing you see Elon as the "almighty" It´s a car, it was the cheapest EV thing to get in DK that was usable, my company forced me to go EV.. so this is where i am at.

HoPMiX

I’ll never go back to ICE.

2020stock

Started with a model y performance (had that for 2 years) then got a plaid x brother has the y now and we miss it but still enjoying the x and had that since June 2023 We switch cars often but the Tesla never made us feel like it was time to switch. Maybe that quick acceleration is always there it’s comfortable, smooth and not noisy (To us) Only car I miss that I let go is my C7 and that really because the speed is there and the looks.

mucello23

Still going

Madison464

Only been a month, still going!

Financial-Flower8480

It really depends on how you treat your car. I had an old 2006 Acura RL cleanly used with no issues for 200k miles before going over to 2021 MY. I clean it (interior) every week as my Sunday morning breaks so it’s still a fun ride. Have already cross half the country round trip 4 times and at 50k miles. It may not be honeymoon phase but I still love looking and driving that car

AJ4Retros

Day 29 and eating McDonald’s inside ? Haha. Throw this man in jail. Does the food smell go away and does the new car smell come back eventually? But those fries 🍟

thespanglycupcake

My MYLR goes back today after 2 years. I am very sad. That honeymoon period has not ended!

seeannwiin

one of the best cars out there. never a dull moment except the rough suspension

bboydru

It lasted just under a year. Strangely, it happened to be the same day I picked up my Highland.

BlaineBMA

16 months ownership here 23YLR. Still smiling.

DeviantImmortal

Got my Model 3 Sept of 2022 and still love it everyday!!

Alert-Consequence671

About a month.

hustlors

I love every single thing about my car. It's been 2 years.

wiseword1

Kept going for about 6 months, now I’m trying to figure out a way to get out of it and into something else.

Horror-Stay6789

still loving it since day one! my favorite car i’ve ever had and i’ve had some sick rides!

LoonEsq

About 8 months in and it’s still my favorite car I’ve owned. However, I’m selling and getting a Rivian because I need to be able to tow 6,000 lbs. No regrets though.

Zestyclose_Load3425

Waiting for the new Rivian 2. Could be a great choice!

Top-Stage1412

Going on strong since Oct ‘21

Acrobatic-Bread-4431

9 mos in, still going strong!

Prettygoodusernm

MY 4 years 55000miles honeymoon still going strong

Cloudyyzz

Got my Y in May 2022. I love everything about it except driving it. Once you get over how fast it can go it’s pretty boring.

fcwolfey

A day, started having quality issues on day 2 with broken middle row seat mechanism. Love the motor and handling of the chassis, but got dam are these made like shite

thetrev68

18 months, 20k miles, still in honeymoon phase. Love this car (MYLR).

als7798

I still don’t have a charging set up at home, so I’m 1300 miles and about $120 in charging.. Only thing I’m disappointed in is the range of my MYLR AWD. Love it otherwise. Have 2 electricians coming to quote a 14-50 today.

Michael_Fuchi

Was still in honeymoon phase after five years in my Model 3. Got a '24 MYP eight weeks ago and the honeymoon phase just continues on 😝

DaSandman78

Over a year for MY and still love it 😄

Illustrious-Tap-7690

3 months in and just hit 5k miles today. Absolutely love every time I get in this car. My only regret is leasing instead of buying because I know I'm going to be disappointed when my 3rd year ends. BUT! At least that will give me the chance to get up in to an X or Cybertruck if they've come down some in price by then. Everyone wants to take my car everywhere which, normally would be annoying, but I take every chance to can to drive her so I have no complaints. Taking her on a cross-country trip in the fall and I'm so excited!

sascourge

March1 2024 delivery. Had 1 service appointment for warranty covered problem. Honeymoon still fully in-tact, but wish I'd gotten the X

Timetodeflate

Over a year, basically every time I drive it I get a smile and think "I love my car". Occasionally the auto wipers sour my mood for a few seconds 😂

clucas102

I find myself still excited to drive it every single day and find excuses to go somewhere. I have a long commute and a work vehicle and owning the Tesla makes me dread the drive 😂😂😂

Sir_Bumblethump

We've had ours for 2 years now. I still grin every time.

malaki1974

18 months, still love my car.

ohyonghao

It lasted until my wife got her MSLR 🤣

Dangerous_Mix3411

Couple of weeks

Lordofthereef

We bought one in February of last year and again last month so... I guess it's still going?

Aytewun

I’ve had my MYP for a year and I’m still day one happy with it. If I would say anything “negative” I got tired of manually closing the frunk and rarely ever use it. I’m not even sure if I opened it this year to be honest.

No-Lawyer-5752

The Good: Fast, safe, zippy, king of the hill and highway passes, regen brakes, fast charging. King of the Metropolitan streets. The Bad: Poor fit/finish, cheap paint, plastic parts around wheel arches dismount after driving thru few severe rainstorms, range gets cut by 30% when blasting heater or cooler at max settings, epa estimates are way off by any type of realistic driving on the open highway, seats are very uncomfortable due to the 1 price design with head of the seat pushing forward with no readjustment option like available on most luxury cars, FSD is a C+ grade overall so far, too many 1 week long penalty when you don't pay attention to steering wheel commands, sentry camera not working when battery under 20%, regen not working when battery over 80%, suspension is not comfortable when the road gets rough due to its limited travel. The Ugly: Charge cost in SF Bay are extremely high (61c/kw in South Bay = $45 for fully charging a 75kw battery vs 33c/kw when charging at home in SF using level 2 overnight). This is equivalent of a suv like highlander or a minivan like a Sienna hybrid getting 30-35 mpg using $5/gal gas. You save nothing on maintenance since all the fluid maintenance on gasoline vehicle is spent on changing out oem tires on Tesla every 20k miles. Insurance is higher than Gasoline suv in the same price range. Tesla mobile service has a lot of limitations with insane $240/hr labor rates with $265 alignment cost, $65 rotation cost, etc. The 3rd row in Y is pretty laughable by most adult passenger standards. Bottonline: As a rideshare driver, my overall cost of ownership of my MYLR 7 seater vs previous highlander hybrid suv is exactly the same thru 1st 60k miles of ownership. Only way the Tesla beats a hybrid toyota is NOT driving >100 miles a day and only charging at home at night time (or anytime using solar panels). Otherwise a hybrid toyota will beat it in overall ownership cost. But then again the Toyota hybrid doesn't drive like a sport cars like a Tesla cam. Different tools for different jobs.

2 years and 22000 miles later and still very happy. My wife jumped on board this year with the .99% and tax rebate. Dual Tesla garage is quite bad ass.

Mekanikol

I'm at 6300 miles on my MYP and I haven't gotten tired of it yet. It is everything in need in a vehicle right now and it's fast as hell. Besides, my kids giggle uncontrollably every time I use the fart button. What's not to love?!

After the first set of tires

80 days and I'm still happy as hell with my MYLR. I had my wipers go crazy the other day, thought I was experiencing the problem everyone has talked about, then realized I had accidentally changed the wiper setting to max wipe mode. Turned it back to auto and everything was good. My previous Tesla was a Model 3 Performance that I leased for 3 years and that honeymoon never ended. I loved that car right up to the end when we took a nice road trip to Las Vegas to enjoy it one last time before the turn-in. I told the lady at Tesla Fremont who took it back, I was a little heart-broken, because it was like returning a favorite dog. The only negative I could say about the Model 3 was that driving long trips so low to the ground was a little tiring. But the Model Y greatly solved that problem. I told someone recently that the Model Y is the perfect road trip and errand vehicle. I can drive all day, sitting and waiting to pick up someone, scouting new offices for work, etc., always comfortable. Yeah, I like my Tesla's...

KaleSalad9534

My honeymoon phase wore off after 3 months when we were moving homes and I had no where near as much trunk space as my last car. My model Y is fun to drive, we paid cash for it and thought long and hard before purchasing, but it is not a mom car - as soon as I'm pregnant with my 3rd it's becoming my husbands commuter and I'm getting something different

SaltyChampion8572

Does anyone feels like the bio filter removes weed smell from the car good? My GF complains, and it it’s annoying told her to try that and FOH. My car !

Roshambo104

I agree with everything you said but the windshield wipers are still a pain sometimes.

dancingjake

A year in and I still hand wash it every week. Never had a car even close to this good.

Tamerxz

I was in a situation to drive ICE car after about a month with MY , and I kid you not I was hoping the ride is over asap to jump back to my Tesla, it's like I can't and don't like to drive anything but MY!

cupcake_sandwich

It ended when front end collision warnings started causing my insurance rate to increase.

no-0p

Started with one Tesla and Two and a half drivers. Now have four and three and a half and Turo guests. There is no substitute.

FeeProfessional7884

Just when I think I’m over it, I use a feature like sending an address to my MYLR from my phone, get ready to go to work with it already preconditioned or get a new Over The Air update that makes it better than when I bought it April last year. May God help me if I pull the trigger on AB!🤣🤣🤣

Lanky-Wonder7556

going on 3.5+ years now...

Tookmyprawns

I had so many issues the first month. The honeymoon didn’t exist. Once the issues were mostly worked out I felt good about it.

Ok-Needleworker-419

We still love it after 4 months at 9000 miles. Paint is the only complaint. It’s stupid thin, got 3 rock chip in the hood the first week. To compare, my 2008 Lexus that I drove on the same roads and often got hit by debris from dump trucks has 4-5 rock chips in the original 2008 paint. I don’t even remember anything hitting the Tesla but the chips appeared the first week.

Equivalent_Owl_5644

Two months in and I look for excuses to take it out. I use FSD everywhere I go and sneak some glances out of the glass roof. I make it fart to make the kids laugh. And we always get into a car at the perfect temp. What more could you ask for? It will never get old.

Saranhai

I think I’m an outlier but lasted at most a week for me lol. Car is fast, tech is great, but it’s just a meh car for me. There’s nothing really special about the MY and I still can’t get over its odd yet boring look. Also my MY started leaking some blue fluid a few days ago and this things not even 6 months old 😬

Specific_Way1654

cue: happy happy happy cat

Southern_Flamingo618

Same. Kids love it. I love it, find myself wishing I needed to go somewhere so I could get a drive in.

Pristine_Cricket_633

Yes, same. Amazing cars. Elon was very underestimated. I use to have dreams of many other (fast ice sports cars) but the level of tech, software, and performance for the money is unrivaled right now. FSD, is still a WIP for sure. I w8sh it would alert of speed limit changes instead of braking hard. I Hate that and the occasional ghost it sees. Aside from that the cars are great.

ComplexIllustrious61

I don't think the honeymoon phase ever ends for a dual motor EV.

benito1283

I get butterflies every time I get in. I’ve never enjoyed driving so much. Got it in 2021.

Gazillin

I traded my mY to mS after three years of driving. Needed more comfort and possibly more range for my long commute and trips. I learned later that people upgrade their suspension for a reasonable price on mY… wish I knew sooner but I’m happy with mS.

HLBIII

Three years and loving every day of my MY

OneRepresentative384

I've had mine almost 2 years. Honeymoon phase lasted 2 days. It's just a car

Mov3rted

Got mine in December 2021, still loving every day! The FSD gets better with every release and when I get bored in with a piece I get a steering wheel cover or arm rest covers. New seat covers soon!

ECommerceMav

When after 6 months with the car.. you are taking wife and friends to a nice dinner and is raining outside.. all of a sudden the AC stop working.. yes.. we got to the dinner all sweaty… best part is when the following day when scheduling a service appointment, you learn that the earliest appointment in all dealers in the 100 miles radio is 10 days away.. in Florida.. so hot as hell right now… and humid.. honeymoon phase?

cinetic81

Still going. I’m 2.5 years in with my MYP and I’m a car guy, but this is the best vehicle (space ship?) I’ve ever owned.

Psychological-Oil552

Right there with you brother. Day 43, 3,441 miles, and still smiling!!!

fredl0bster

Have a 4 year old stormtrooper Y, I feel very privileged to own and drive it everyday. When I park at home I always look back and admire it for at least 15-20 seconds. I mostly drive in chill mode and even then am happy with the performance and responsiveness. Putting it back into standard reminds me what an impressive machine it is. I’m trading it in this weekend for a new Y as the numbers just made sense with the tax credit apr and equity I had in the vehicle. Looking forward to many more years as a model Y owner!

Creepy_Map3994

I’m at 11 months, and 25,000 miles. I don’t want to drive anything else.

yaktyyak_00

2.5 years in Model 3, still a blast and great car.

I'm happy with it. Owning it for over a year now. Driving it is like a 7 out of 10. Other cars in my price league mostly feel like a 5 out of 10. So it's OK, but it's not like a day and night difference. It still remains a car that has costed me too much money for what it does: going from A to B. People should not feel overly happy by owning a car. Would I buy again? More likely yes than no. I don't care too much for now. Yolo. In the broader context of life, cars are totally unimportant.

DifficultScientist23

My biggest surprise was how big it is. I know, that's what she said. All jokes aside, in 10 months I've put on over 43,000 miles and I'm still in love with the capability of this car in good and bad weather. A crazy hot Summer last year she did just fine and now another hot Summer and my confidence w this car is as high as ever. Tessi is a joy to drive everyday with very minor complaints. The ONLY real complaint is FSD which has a lot less to do with the car than it does w the current CEO.

shred4u

Until Elon became such a douche bag

No-Lawyer-5752

I'm 6 month in, over 60k miles on it, I experienced the good vs bad vs ugly part of MY ownership. Which one you want me to list? My honeymoon phase was over after about 100 days. I use it for commercial, rideshare purposes to a tune of over 60hrs a week average.

YellowUnited8741

There’s a honeymoon phase? Maybe it’s owning 30+ cars over the last 25 years but I don’t have honeymoons with cars anymore, no matter what it is.

Shriekin_Criminal

That’s cool bro.

lostaccountby2fa

Depends on how much kool-aid you drank Mine lasted a 2 weeks. Picked up the car with 2 major issues. One issue got fixed in 2 days and the other took 2 weeks. The issues and the service center handling of the issues totally ruined my experience. This is why customer service is paramount. Tesla don’t give a damn about customers only their shareholders.

Used_Owl3385

Curious what the horrible issues you experienced were, and how CS failed you. Sounded like it was all rectified in 2 weeks but maybe there was something that wasn't? We all can benefit from hearing about experiences so different from our own. BTW, I would never accuse you of being a FUD'ster just because you are voicing a bad experience, and think it rather odd you describe all the rest who have not had a problem as kool-aid drinkers. Kind of silly, don't you think?
