So the reason I’m gauging it at ~80 is due to the fact that in the first clip, the witness is traveling ~75 and the Jetta passes them, and continues to gain more and more distance right up until the collision, and you don’t see any brake lights at all until less than a cars length from where I was. The point at which brakes were applied, the tesla isn’t even in view anymore because of how close the Jetta is/possibly already initiating contact

Glad you're ok. I got rear ended about a year ago stopped on a 55mph highway(not in a Tesla) and she admitted she was on her phone. It was pretty jarring, and can't imagine at 80mph.

More side and corner damage than anything else so not much crumple on the center of the rear. 5 seater. Loaded with storage containers with all my belongings cause I’m in the process of moving.
My MYP was totaled last year in November but I walked away from it with just a bruised left hand and I was kind of glad because I was one of those people that bought the car before the price drop so I had no equity in the car all negative to the tune of about $17K so it being totaled got it payed off.
Either he has amazing breaks or he wasn’t going 80 MPH. The trunk would be in the front seat if someone hit you at a standstill going 80MPH. Not to mention their front end would be in their backseat lol.

I have dash cam footage from a witness behind the collision. The Vw that hit me sped past the dash cam vehicle whose own speed was about 74-75. The VW that hit me practically never hit the brakes until he was 0.5-1 car’s distance from me.
The other day i was in the left lane slowing down to stop behind the only car waiting to turn left and there was a line of cars on the right waiting for the green light. A woman crossed in the middle of the street and was looking the other way, i saw her last min and started braking but i also saw that the tesla saw her aswell as there was a warning "emergency braking" of the screen. I was impress with the car, less by the woman, and her she got the fear of her life. This car is really safe

Don’t get me wrong, accidents are awful, and often incredibly inconvenient, and I certainly feel for folks on those fronts. But like, you’re going to be able to replace it if you want (barring a few odd situations when loan balance exceeds payout for totaled vehicle).

I did not hesitate at all, and went to get seen by medical professionals and am taking the necessary steps to ensure my health is as best as can be and monitor things. I was able to walk away from this relatively unharmed. The driver of the VW was eventually able to get out of their vehicle as well with some help, but was eventually taken by ambulance to a local hospital. Nothing seems to be life threatening, so that is good. This experience has illustrated the safety of this vehicle, and it doesn't seem like I'd choose anything else for a next car when that time comes. The ultimate cause of this incident is not known as of now.

Neck pain can come later…ask me how I know after have cervical surgery after getting rear ended. At least complain of neck stiffness and mild pain and get an MRI. Fortunately you were not hit square in the rear. I was rear-ended that ended up causing a herniated disc that worsened over time. They ended up having to remove the disc between c6/c7 and placed an artificial disc.
Get with your insurance and sue for negligence or something. Youll already get a new car out of this, but maybe you can get a MS or MX now lol. I am glad you are okay. Agreed that life isn't replaceable, material objects are.

I’m glad everyone is okay. I would seriously get yourself checked out though. I got into an accident (my brother was driving) long story short, I felt fine afterwards. Actually I was more worried about my phone that flew out the window. I didn’t realize till later that my hips, shoulders, neck, head weren’t completely “straight” I had bad nerve damage severe muscle spasms. I can’t do anything to fix it now except what I’m told “exercise and drink lots of water, do physical therapy…” nothing helps for more than 2 minutes at a time. Even if you think you’re okay, going through your normal day to day could be more impactful than you may think.

It gets better and worse depending on what I’ve been doing, but the pain can be managed. Trying to avoid surgery as much as possible.
Ct scan. MRIs tend are not sensitive to vascular injuries which would be the primary concern in a trauma setting. Ask me how I know

Fortunately you were not hit square in the rear. I was rear-ended that ended up causing a herniated disc that worsened over time. They ended up having to remove the disc between c6/c7 and placed an artificial disc.

I’m glad everyone is okay. I would seriously get yourself checked out though. I got into an accident (my brother was driving) long story short, I felt fine afterwards. Actually I was more worried about my phone that flew out the window. I didn’t realize till later that my hips, shoulders, neck, head weren’t completely “straight” I had bad nerve damage severe muscle spasms. I can’t do anything to fix it now except what I’m told “exercise and drink lots of water, do physical therapy…” nothing helps for more than 2 minutes at a time. Even if you think you’re okay, going through your normal day to day could be more impactful than you may think.

I know a guy who does paintless dent removal who could fix that right up for $150.
