Longan=ลำไย, Not the same as OP picture. Longan has a sweeter taste with little to no sourness. The one in OP picture is Langsat or Longkong which has sweet and sour taste. https://thailand.falktime.com/langsat-longkong-thai-fruits/
Longkong (OP’s picture) - thick pale yellow skin, rounded, predominantly sweet, meatier, juicier, and easier to peel than langsat, next to zero pit
Langsat - thin vivid yellow skin, not too rounded more oval, sweet and sour, few pits
EDIT: OP’s picture is definitely not longan
Idk man saying longan is similar to longkong is like saying monkey is similar to lion because they’re animal. The only thing that is similar between longan and longkong is they’re fruit.
The anatomy inside are different longan is a single seed fruit while longkong is a multiple fruit like mandarin. Their taste, texture and smell are completely different. Their Peel look yellow and brownish ye but the peel itself is also very different. Not sure if you had both or not but sorry if this bother you. 😆
Your previous argument appeared to be about taxonomy (pretty sure there is a better term for this, but it isn’t coming to mind right now - I’m referring to the actual evolutionary relationship between different species), becaused you used the word family. I’m just pointing out that similarity isn’t the same as this.
For example, hyenas are more similar to dogs than cats in many ways, but they are more closely related to cats.
Longkong
Yes, thank you.
No problem😄
In our country, Philippines, it's called Lanzones
Longdong or in some provinces, Dongleberries
Organic produce sometimes comes with few critters too... last time i bought a bunch with scorpions and centipedes
You are a ⭐️! Is there any other advice regarding fruit and/or critters
For the most part, they are in the outside. If not, free protein.
Yes, scorpions taste like crab.
Not the one I ate🥹
So, it tasted more like crap?
Longkong and I couldn't agree with you more,by far my favourite fruit here in Thailand.

Longkong is practically domesticated langsat
Ha, you knew the answer to your question
Agreed:)
Longan are similar but have less flesh due to the large dragon eye seed.
No. they’re completely different kind of fruit. They’re not even in the same family. I think you’re confused because of their name.
Similar doesn’t mean familial.

Longan and Longkong both have yellow peel and white flesh but longan has a rather large seed. It’s more like monkey to gorilla.

I think the person who named them was confused when he named them. Too much weed, perhaps.
They are similar looking , smaller and not segmented:)
Kotzfrucht
Its called in germany...
Lanzones
It looks like tiny potatoes on grape branch 🤔
"LONG-KONG" or almost the same taste and look as "LANG-SARD"
Ask a Thai, he will know that.
Potato.
Is this the one that tastes like cough syrup?
