[The most recent season of TAR, episode 1.](https://youtu.be/2ySHJ9ObG-c?si=CSc64jWGrNJ1W1Ub&t=162)
And at the end, "That was one of THEE most stressful moments of my life, Rohan." 🙄
Yeah they explained it. The street behind them was busy and they didn't think they could safely back up into it, because they'd have to outright have traffic to stop entirely for them in order to maneuver into it backwards.
This is the first thing that came to my mind. I've seen A LOT of dumb decisions (like the old ladies that ended up like a day behind because they were flying from South America to Europe and connected in NYC...or Team Guido's Fast Forward arrogance in Season 1...or Rob & Amber joking "did you get the earlier flight?" when THERE WAS an earlier flight they didn't know about...) But this one was just so ridiculous.
I think it was memorable for me because it just happened. But even seeing others posts where people made stupid, game play mistakes, or strategic mistakes. You can kinda see how they made the wrong decision or were over thinking etc. This was just pure stupidity.
"Mama and baby rat went on a trip around the world, they skiied, they did some yoga and it was a positive experience."
Their absolute CONVICTION and confidence that this is correct absolutely burries me.
Honestly top 10 most hilarious moment of the Race ever.
I think they have said it was their mnemonic device and at first they thought they just had to remember the pictures.
By the way, I ate a lemon because of them.

this was so good. 36 was like a boring season with some absolutely gold scenes thrown in randomly and this was one of the best moments. this was like the best example of overthinking in the world
Maya & Rohan parking fiasco. The twins detour dilemma. Pretty much anything the firefighters did.
Its so wild the most dominant winners of the franchises raced in a "whoops! All first boots." Season lol
i know a lot of people hate this season but this moment alone makes me glad i watched it. genuinely belongs in the convo of the most entertaining amazing race moments of all time
(i lowkey thought the first third of the season or so was really entertaining and the firefighters easily one of my favorite teams, with them and angie / danny being fascinating min-max inversions of each other, but that's neither here nor there)
I’m watching season 18 now. Kent and Vyxsin did the same thing! (Probably worse in later seasons when you should know better. Just like everyone should know how to drive a manual and to never pick the food challenge!)
TAR CANADA 7 i think...
Jet + Dave returning, so everyone had high hopes for them and them leading in 2nd for the entire leg...
Then getting lost because they didn't buy a map and everyone else did so they got eliminated in last on the first leg
Something else I find so funny about that too was that it was the same year that TAR 31 (Reality Showdown) happened and for the returning Teams it was mostly a cakewalk, for Jet & Dave, NOT a cakewalk.
This just goes to show that even if you are a returning Team who did really well on another season and are playing against weaker teams or newbies, you're not guaranteed to make it far.
It's weird because usually when commercials for an episode show a team making a mistake, it usually means they're 100% guaranteed to survive.
Same thing could be said for >!Angie and Danny!
Throwing it allll the way back to Season 1. Watching Team Guido sit in an air conditioned hotel while having a Fast Pass and killing time, resulting in them being the very last team to make it to the check out, which then put them on a delay they could never come back from.
1. "Mama Rat took Baby Rat skiing around the world, they did some yoga, and that was a positive experience."
2. Jessica and John making an offering in someone's backyard and then being eliminated with an unused Express Pass.
3. Misa and Maiya failing to see Phil.
I forget the exact season, but when the race was in Chile and the teams had to transport a shoe shining station to a central location for their next clue. The team of older gentlemen (acting or clown friends) mistook an actual street vendor's station as one of the shoe shine stations and took him instead. I couldn't stop laughing the whole sequence through.
I was a senior in HS when it came out and I remember Jonathan being terrible. I just rewatched the season this week and it is so much worse than I remember. I can not believe they were allowed to continue. And Phil at the pitstop, "maybe you need to go talk to Victoria." No, the hell he doesn't. He needs to stay as far away as possible from her. I'm glad they divorced and hope she is in a healthy relationship.
Phil's spoken out about this many times since then. The reason why he tells Jonathan to talk to Victoria is because he's think she's upset about getting outran by Freddy/Kendra. When Jonathan shoved Victoria, Phil did not see it because Freddy/Kendra are blocking his view while standing on the mat.
Phil didn't see "The Shove".
He has said he could tell their emotions were running high and that something had just happened, but figured it was just a personal argument.

[Season 16](https://www.latimes.com/archives/blogs/show-tracker/story/2010-02-14/the-amazing-race-painting-the-town-red), I think, but this is my favorite, too! My whole family was in tears, laughing.
The 'Out of Towners' ladies in Season 35 asking the wrong guy on the ferry to change money, giving in a fiver note and getting 5 1euro coins instead of the old Witten coins and continuing on the journey clueless to their big mistake.
i loved the out of towners so i don't mean this in a mean way but watching their implosion that leg was SO entertaining, that has to be the hardest we've seen an otherwise decent team implode in a hot minute
As they were showing other teams progress, I was dying for the scene to switch back to the ladies and their money mistake, and kept hanging on waiting to see at what point they would realise and how they would overcome it. I couldn't believe they wasted their time going back to the wrong ferry to question the guy.
idk if this is a hot take or what but as someone who was never that big on rupert outside of his first survivor season and thought him returning 3 times was a bit excessive, rupert and laura the amazing race team were FANTASTIC television and im sad we only got to see them for two legs (especially when their second leg elimination wasn't really their fault)
with survivor having as many over the top characters as it does, i kind of wish they'd gone all in on that front and brought back say. coach + tyson and natalie + angelina (or christian + gabby if we're being realistic), altho im glad they at least nabbed one team from that mold
This is a really random one from the most recent season I watched, season 27. The Paparazzi team made the mistake of leaving the bungee jumping task, thinking it was somewhere else, and ended up putting themselves in last place. The detour was either paddling across a river or going into a cage to feed alligators. The alligator had a line and an order. The order still had them in last place, all the teams ahead of them were also in the line. The paparazzi team argued with each other the whole time wondering if they should or not, but decided to stay in the order.
I thought it was so dumb of them not to switch because you're waiting in line at last place and is still gonna leave in last place. You couldn't wait in a line that would not change your position in the race, they should've left to do the other detour. Luckily for them, another team did an even bigger mistake and they did not leave during that leg of the race.
Rowan begging and actually convincing a random shoe shine guy to let him use his stand, pack it up, and bring it to the storage spot before realizing there were stands put aside for racers.
I don’t remember who or what season, all I remember is they were driving (in Europe maybe?) and missed their turn and instead of doing what any sane person would do which would be like, idk, go around the block, they stopped in the middle of the road and popped that thing in reverse and backed up til they got to the road they were supposed to turn on.
IN WHAT WORLD PEOPLE? WHO GAVE YOU DRIVERS LICENSES?!
I saw this happen on the highway during rush hour once. The driver stopped on the right shoulder and proceeded to back up in that "lane" until they got back to the exit.
Any time it says to get to the destination by foot and a team immediately flags down a taxi because they didn't read it right and the every season struggle of a team that doesn't know how to drive a manual car. Definitely something I'd make sure to master if I ever was on the show.
Watching old seasons and currently on season 15 now. When Mika refused to go down the water slide with floaties on and they were eliminated is an all time low moment for any racers in my opinion!! She literally acted like a 3 year old
Finding this one was the reason I opened this thread. One of my favorite race moments of all time. Canaan trying to get her to go while the Globetrotters were getting in her head about how dangerous it looked. That trash talk was epic.
Tanner/Josh using their Express Pass on a relatively easy task so they could U-Turn Justin/Diana just to be equalized before the actual U-Turn.
Tiffany/Krista U-Turning Justin/Diana just to find out they were actually in last place
Basically anytime anyone U-Turns a team that was ahead of them *ahem* Kent/Vyxsin
Shout outs to Steve and Debra letting Tian and Jaree get ahead of them at the detour of TAR4 Leg 1. They were fighting to not come last AND it was a linear Detour to boot. If it had happened on the climb back down that’s one thing but how do you let someone get ahead of you on a ‘fast but scary’ detour?!
On flight time and big easy’s first season, they had a couple who got eliminated because the girl was too scared to go down a WATER SLIDE. It saved the globetrotters from elimination, but what a dumb way to get eliminated
The first to come to mind is Jessica and John going home with an express pass in their pockets (Season 22 episode 4).
Also when they made something at this random guy’s backyard lol
Oy vey
Even though closing credits were mocking them 🤣
[The most recent season of TAR, episode 1.](https://youtu.be/2ySHJ9ObG-c?si=CSc64jWGrNJ1W1Ub&t=162) And at the end, "That was one of THEE most stressful moments of my life, Rohan." 🙄
This was like watching [that scene in Austin Powers where the cart is sideways in the hall.](https://youtu.be/IGiQOCX9UbM?si=FYnrSG5nbOEqD2yS)
This caused me so much stress, rage and anxiety. It literally hurt me to watch.
have they ever explained this? just stress and pressure? I don't understand why you wouldn't just back up vs doing a 438 point turn.
I think in the post episode interview they said they just panicked and neither one of them thought they could back the car up the lane.
Yeah they explained it. The street behind them was busy and they didn't think they could safely back up into it, because they'd have to outright have traffic to stop entirely for them in order to maneuver into it backwards.
This is performance art
This is the first thing that came to my mind. all the guesses of the rebus puzzle by the firefighters, so hilarious though.
"Mama and baby rat went on a trip around the world, they skiied, they did some yoga and it was a positive experience." Their absolute CONVICTION and confidence that this is correct absolutely burries me. Honestly top 10 most hilarious moment of the Race ever.
lol it was so absurd, and so freaking funny. Also Those who wander are not lost lol.
I think they have said it was their mnemonic device and at first they thought they just had to remember the pictures. By the way, I ate a lemon because of them. [https://www.instagram.com/p/C5VxUEqOyjO/](https://www.instagram.com/p/C5VxUEqOyjO/)

Instant classic moment for sure.

I enjoyed the season, and Loved the firefighters.
Heather and Eve in TAR 3 taking a car to the pit stop when it very clearly stated to walk there
"Maybe that means we have to walk into it?"
That cost them chance to stayed.
I’m watching season 18 now. Kent and Vyxsin did the same thing! (Probably worse in later seasons when you should know better. Just like everyone should know how to drive a manual and to never pick the food challenge!)
Misa and Maiya just completely missing the Pit Stop despite being within a few yards of it.
This is #1 in my mind.
Driving to New Jersey when you’re in the final leg
That famous Philly pizza
Annaleigh dragging her poor dad up to the top of the ski hill when the fast pass had already been claimed by Prince Eric and his sweet deaf dad 🤣
Prince Eric😭
They should of had to go back down instead of taking the ski hill down
Candelabra
Are you a candelabra?
OMG!!! That was epic...
Missing the train to take a selfie
Eliminating a team because their camera team got lost.
TAR CANADA 7 i think... Jet + Dave returning, so everyone had high hopes for them and them leading in 2nd for the entire leg... Then getting lost because they didn't buy a map and everyone else did so they got eliminated in last on the first leg
I remember that! That had to hurt! LOL!
Its so rare for a twist like this to fail so spectacularly.
Yeah. I was so heartbroken when my fav BB player: Nicole didn't make it to finale. TBF, TAR dominated the season, but Nic + Vic were always up there.
The Blonde Twins from TAR36, going back and forth on both detours in their last leg.
It's weird because usually when commercials for an episode show a team making a mistake, it usually means they're 100% guaranteed to survive. Same thing could be said for >!Angie and Danny!
Everytime someone doesn’t read their clue thoroughly.
Throwing it allll the way back to Season 1. Watching Team Guido sit in an air conditioned hotel while having a Fast Pass and killing time, resulting in them being the very last team to make it to the check out, which then put them on a delay they could never come back from.
FR YOU HAVE THE GUEST PASS. JUST USE IT. AND CHECK IN AHHH
Exactly. What the heck.
When Big Easy couldn't unscramble a 5-letter word and decided to quit and take the four-hour penalty instead in S15
Honestly just brute force it. 120 options but you'll get there eventually.
He had the first letter given too. So only 24 options 😭
The matching making season, the gay couple noping out since neither could drive a stick and taking cabs.
Their absolute gay apathy was insane to watch.
When Jessica & John got eliminated with their express pass. “OY VEY!!!”
Maya and Rohan doing a 30 point turn on a narrow street instead of reversing the car
1. "Mama Rat took Baby Rat skiing around the world, they did some yoga, and that was a positive experience." 2. Jessica and John making an offering in someone's backyard and then being eliminated with an unused Express Pass. 3. Misa and Maiya failing to see Phil.

Missing the clue box by SEVERAL teams in TAR 5, ep 1
For me its Fran & Barry in TAR9 who were within an arm's reach of the box ... and missed it.
Multiple times!
And then were like "I dont think it was there before."
Also dieselgate in TAR 3
7 teams?
Yes several teams
Charla in a metal knight outfit trying to guide a horse that is *literally* running circles around her.
When the Afgahn-imals lost the whole race because they couldn't figure out a combination lock. Smh
The iconic watermelon rebound, I’m not too good to admit that I laughed out loud at that one
Seeing new generations discover that clip on the internet brings me so much joy.
Dandrew in general
Allowing Jonathan and Victoria to continue racing even after the shoving incident. They should have been ejected the moment that happened.
I was a senior in HS when it came out and I remember Jonathan being terrible. I just rewatched the season this week and it is so much worse than I remember. Thank you. I'll have to look into what he has said.

Season 16 Steve and Allie painting someone’s wall inside their home 😂😂
[Season 16](https://www.latimes.com/archives/blogs/show-tracker/story/2010-02-14/the-amazing-race-painting-the-town-red), I think, but this is my favorite, too! My whole family was in tears, laughing.
You’re right!! Idk why I was thinking 35 😂🤦🏻♀️ still the best moment on the race for the face palm
The workers who were in the house painting were just so baffled!
The 'Out of Towners' ladies in Season 35 asking the wrong guy on the ferry to change money, giving in a fiver note and getting 5 1euro coins instead of the old Witten coins and continuing on the journey clueless to their big mistake.

I would LOVE to see Christian and Gabby on The Amazing Race!
Michael and Moe solving the puzzle (you pick which time) More recently when the twins this season said “maybe we should go back to the other detour”
This is a really random one from the most recent season I watched, season 27. Rob and Amber yielding Ron and Kelly when they could have yielded Uchenna and Joyce, taking them out of the race in favor of Meredith and Gretchen.
Me clutching my forehead after watching the watermelon incident
Any time it says to get to the destination by foot and a team immediately flags down a taxi because they didn't read it right and the every season struggle of a team that doesn't know how to drive a manual car. Definitely something I'd make sure to master if I ever was on the show.
Anyone getting eliminated with an Express Pass.
That team in Season 23 that dragged the wrong shoe-cleaner from one place to the other. Poor man! I hope someone paid him!
Sunny and Bizzy going to random plaza's hoping it's the right one
Every time Mark and Michael gets a penalty and them not learning their mistakes because the next episode they got another penalty 😂
The twins swimming to the pit stop instead of walking across the sand bar
My family and I quote “we need to swim!” constantly
Watching old seasons and currently on season 15 now. When Mika refused to go down the water slide with floaties on and they were eliminated is an all time low moment for any racers in my opinion!! She literally acted like a 3 year old

TAR13 one team doing both Detours in Leg 2
DIaeSelgate
The watermelon hitting the woman back in the face
Liam and Yeremi. Not as bad as 36's blond twins in terms of switching detours... but man their navigation sucked.
Season 35: The out of towners looking for the money changer
I didn't see what sub this was and thought OP was asking about ethnicity lol
Season 20 episode 1 where those two sisters were literally at the pit stop and walked away and ended up being eliminated 😭😭😭
K no
