Lay on your side with your bad ear facing up, put a few drops of hydrogen peroxide in it. Get someone to help you, or drop it in yourself with an eye dropper or just get a Q-tip wet with it and place it in gently. This helps to get liquid to evaporate from the ear. It'll pop and make bubbling sounds, and thats normal. Always helps me stay away from ear infections. I massage my ears, I pull the lobe down gently, as well as rubbing from the hollow behind my ear down around my chin. Might help get things moving around in there. Hope it gets better!

Thanks...I think I'll try the hydrogen peroxide idea. I have heard about this before but never really had a reason to try.

TechnoLogicPC

We gotta know!

Old_Nebula4355

Plz lord tell us

TechnoLogicPC

Mine is very nearly cleared up. List of things I used along the way - Saline spray, Alegra, Nasacort, and most recently Sudafed decongestant. Could have just been the body doing its thing over time, but I'm definitely a lot better now after a few days of Sudafed. Hope you find relief.

TAC_C

How long did this last for you?

TechnoLogicPC

I'd say the whole thing lasted about 3 weeks before I was 100% again. The ear fluid was what stuck around the longest, but I've been all good certainly since the 4 week mark around the beginning of December.

TAC_C

Thanks for the reply. Dealing with the same issue, was sick and then thought I was feeling better and bam ear feels plugged. On day 4 or 5 here, went to an ENT and he said nothing was wrong, which all he did was take a quick peek in my ears to see if there was wax build up or infection.

Thats where I am at. Got sick 2 weeks ago, cold got better but my ears got clogged. Did it go away?

[deleted]

Well tell us did it work?

Sensitive_Pack_8984

We must know please tell us if worked

anastasiagiov

ok i just did it. it lowkey felt nice when the cold drops went inside my ear (kinda tickled too) and then a little bubbling sound started. my left ear is way more clogged than my right, and it didn't really do much. its still bubbling in my ear as im typing despite having cleaned it out. im going to be honest i do hear a *tiny* bit better but it might just be that it got ear wax out?? im definitely still congested sadly. so for future reference i'd say try it out just to relieve it a little but dont expect your ears to be normal again.

come-to-make-friends

Did it work?

4P5mc

I doubt OP will remember after 9 years!

Joejoefluffybunny

Do you remember if it worked?

Pure-Sale229

Stop telling people to put this shit in their ears dude

This comment is literally 10 years old.

I have the same problem with my ears. I started using a netty (sp?) pot and it really helped. I know it's flushing the nose, but it helps reduce inflammation that causes the opening from the ear to the throat to become swollen and close up. It takes a bit to get used to the sensation but I did it 2-3 times a day for 2 days and my ears (that had been congested for a week) began clearing.

mdc1307

These things are amazing. I could tell a difference immediately. They sound extremely gross, but nothing helped me better with my sinus infections. It also helps the medications work better, or that is what the doctor told me.

swtangl

I have one but it is packed away somewhere. Guess I need to clean it out and start using it again.

Get sudafed- the kind you have to sign for over the counter. It will dry out your ears. Also lay your ear on a warm wash cloth- it will dull any ear pain. As long as you don't have a fever you should be good.

RellekaRebirth

Also drinking lots of water help your body stay hydrated and makes the congestion come out easier. Also you can breath in hot water with a towel over steaming water and it will help break everything up. This reminds me that I need to unpack my Neti Pot

phantasmagoria4

Have you ever used a neti pot before? http://www.amazon.com/SinuCleanse-Nasal-System-Plastic-Packets/dp/B000TFR6MG It helps me with my ear/sinus symptoms.

Iwantobesomeoneelse

Afrin mother-fucking nasal spray. I used to hate the idea of nasal spray until I tried this shit (especially the no-drip). I get head colds where my nose is so stuffed up that my ears pop when I swallow. Two pumps of Afrin up each nostril clears me right up for about 4-6 hours, enough to help me get through the day without dissolving into angst.

I get the same problems with my ears, it can be a real pain! Whatever you do, do NOT poke anything in to try and make it feel better. I heard this advice but ignored it, thinking what could go wrong? Perforated ear drum :( If you can, take ibuprofen for the swelling/inflammation, and sleep with a hot water bottle on your pillow. I have no science for the hot water bottle but I always figure it helps my menstrual cramps, so it might help ears too.

RiverSong42

Oooh! I know this one! Okay, so... I dealt with super itchy ears for a while now. Sometimes they would fill up with fluid. GP always told me it was a middle ear infection, gave me some antibiotics and sent me home. After the 4th time in 6 months of this, I said "fuck it" and went to an ENT doc. It's eczema! Put a bit of hydrocortizone on a q-tip and **very carefully** apply it to the itchy area. IANAD YMMV IDK MY BFF JILL

CommercialCraft6157

That’s such a good idea. Thank you.

Thndrmunkee

neti-pot, it's the pressure in your head bothering your ears.
