Oil doesn’t have any water or earth in it though? And lava bending works for some earth benders because it’s just heated up earth. In LoK >!Bolin, as an earth bender, eventually figures out he can lava bend. I read somewhere else (fan speculation) that maybe his fire nation ancestry is involved in giving him that ability, but he’s not a fire bender!< Magnetic bending could be an interesting possibility though for metal benders.
Well, yeah, but this post is all about what could be possible if you could bend anything you can make a reasonable argument for being able to bend. Scientifically, glacier ice is considered metamorphic rock. Ice’s regular crystalline structure makes it considered a mineral, and glacier ice also has inclusions of a good number of other minerals.
If people are interested in an expanded bending system, they should consider reading [the Orisha Trilogy](https://www.panmacmillan.com/blogs/fiction/maji-guide-children-of-blood-bone-tomi-adeyemi).
Air is about 78% nitrogen and only about 21% oxygen. Hydrogen makes up 2/3 atoms in a water molecule, but the oxygen atom is 8 times heavier. All three of these components are highly flammable and explosive when separated and pressurized, therefore airbenders *and* water benders can fire bend *and* combustion bend. Checkmate earth nation.
It just takes some lunatic with 0 education (or a very wise uncle) to fully believe that all elements are fundamentally the same thing to have a second avatar.
Theorybending is a thing people do in this subreddit out of pure belief constantly
Lava bending is only performed in the show by Earthbenders, so we do know that it is that
Theoretically Fire benders would be the strongest as they can bend plasma which is like fundamental up there in space and shit

Earthbenders could bend glaciers - scientifically, they fit the definition of rock
Glaciers are made of ice. They’re just giant moving ice blocks. So I feel like that would be a water bender thing

Gotcha. That makes sense to me, about glaciers picking up minerals at least.
Blood bending for earthbenders since our blood contains iron

Airbenders can bend water because literally half of water is just air
