I mean when you have a live action chin, a stop motion creature and hand drawn animation and a cgi dino on screen at the same time, it kinda throws out all standards
I’m guessing it has something to do with the fact that the avatar is tapping into or being controlled by every previous avatar’s spirit so dying in that state kills every incarnation at once
It's just one shared spirit though with Ravaa remembering previous incarnations personalities allowing the current avatar to communicate with their own past selves.
Idk about that. It’s generally just a good strategy in world-building to leave certain things a mystery bc it mimics real life where there’s always things we don’t know, and it’s when we don’t know how something works that makes it feel magical and wondrous instead of technological/scientific. The gnawing curiosity that we don’t know everything about a world is what keeps us coming back. It’s perfectly plausible they left it unexplained bc they didn’t have time to explain or bc they wanted to keep something a mystery or they just didn’t have an answer instead of intentionally leaving blanks for themselves to fill in later.
I think it’s a bad habit of popular franchises to come back later and explain their universes to death bc the original was popular and they realize they can still cash in, what with retroactive origin stories and extended universes and the like. Star wars does it ( Solo), Marvel does it (Black Widow), many sequels reveal origins when the well of character growth for the current protagonist dries up (X-men, Fantastic Beasts with dumbledore, Rings of Power). And the truth is these explanations and backstories aren’t satisfying. They explain away the magic.
I think TLOK may be guilty of this where they only conceived of Raava when they realized there was more money to be made with the property. Their late-addition origin stories for the avatar ended up detracting from the magic and the mystery of the world, and I personally don’t think it’s out of the question that they never intentionally left information out from ATLA so they could explain it with something like Raava
Yes, and where did any of them get the idea it works that way when it's never actually happened? No being has ever observed it to happen, so it's literally assumed based on "trust me bro" logic.
And Ravaa knows this how? Again, it's a thing that has *never* happened. So where does the knowledge that it *would* happen come from? There was literally no such thing as the avatar before and no one has ever died in the avatar state to establish that it it's a thing that would actually happen. The whole thing is just a justification for the self nerf of not being in the avatar state 24/7 by making it *too dangerous*.
I’ve always interpreted it as Raava and the Avatar being completely spiritually connected when they’re in the Avatar State so if the Avatar dies, Raava would “die” with them too instead of reincarnating. She would eventually be reborn out of Vaatu but the Avatar would be gone. Raava would know this just by intuitively understanding how the Avatar State works. It’s mostly just headcanon since I don’t think the exact mechanics of the Avatar State has ever been truly explained, but I don’t really see why it’s so important for them to completely explain how everything works. I personally like that the Avatar State isn’t almighty and that it can be considered both the Avatar’s greatest strength and the greatest weakness
Maybe they're extrapolating from a similar phenomenon. For example, if a shaman channeling a spirit was killed and a previous Avatar confirmed that the spirit also died, they may conclude that the same could happen to them.
He was only running on minutes of sleep. Aang was standing on straight business because of that lol
And they were almost consecutive, too . . .
He laughed, when Zuko arrived and Azula called him: Zuzu
Hehehe... I just noticed how silly the lizard was drawn

When they say something so honorophobic you gotta hit em' with that Mongoose lizard stare

All hail the jebus lizard
I’m dead💀💀never noticed that. Looks like he came right out of the amazing world of gum all💀
Tbf, everything looks like it belongs on that show
I mean when you have a live action chin, a stop motion creature and hand drawn animation and a cgi dino on screen at the same time, it kinda throws out all standards
Do they ever say what type of creature it is exactly
I’m dead💀💀never noticed that. Looks like he came right out of the amazing world of gum all💀
Its a funny impression, but the scar's on the wrong side.
THE SCAR IS NOT ON THE WRONG SIDE
Took me a minute 🤣
Aang was just sleepy, so Azula tried to bring the *fire* for him.
Eepy Aang
Dude just wanted to get it over with, he needs to sleep
Aang was just like”I’m not in the mood bitch, let’s just get this fight over with”
Killed?
i assume they are talking about azula "killing" aang at the end of season 2 before katara revived him with the spirit water
Yeah, he canonically died for a minute

That should have been the origin for the Dark Avatar, not whatever Unalaq was doing
It would've been a cool concept if Aang dying in the avatar state caused harmonic convergence to happen earlier than expected
Wouldn’t he have immediately reincarnated? What happened to the new avatar during his death
> Wouldn’t he have immediately reincarnated? Dying in the Avatar State ends the cycle
It's weird how that's claimed to be the case when it has literally never happened, so how would anyone know?
I’m guessing it has something to do with the fact that the avatar is tapping into or being controlled by every previous avatar’s spirit so dying in that state kills every incarnation at once

Raava wasn’t conceived when atla was being made and Roku mentioned dying in the avatar state so I’m fairly convinced Raava has nothing to do with it
They left it intentionally vague so they could decide to add something later if they wanted

I mean, Roku told Aang about it in Book 2 and it was referenced when Aang woke up in Book 3 too IIRC

My guess is Raava just told one of the first Avatars, and the info has just continued to be passed down.
And Ravaa knows this how? Again, it's a thing that has *never* happened. So where does the knowledge that it *would* happen come from? Spirits *can't* die though. There are so many layers of why this makes zero sense.
I believe the Federal Avatar Commission implemented a few second delay after Avatar Dwyer.
>Aang was just too tired Gee Azula and whose fault is that?
It was indeed funny
"Girl, what do want?"
Honestly had Aang not been so sleep deprived, he would’ve laughed at Azula’s impression of Zuko.
He is an Air Nomad, he knows what's funny lmao
Aang be like : you chased me and my friends all night and now you expect me to laugh at your joke
I don’t know, if I only had minutes of sleep and had to take on Azula as well, I wouldn’t be laughing either.
What I don't understand is why Azula is not tired. She's also been awake chasing the gaang for days
True, was wondering the same thing. It's not like you can sleep in a running tank
This is the reason azula almost killed aang
lol
