Sylv. Jolteon is useless.

MathProfGeneva

Sylveon is at least somewhat viable. Jolteon is hot garbage

ssfgrgawer

Jolteon only has electric type moves. This isn't useful in PVP. In general Eeveelutions don't have a lot of variety in their movesets. Umbreon pretty much only has dark moves, Espeon only psychic, Flareon only fire and so on. Slyveon is likely the better choice, just because fairy is a strong typing while electric is less strong due to the abundance of Ground types in PVP (specifically, strong Ground/water types who can ignore electric moves.) as water is one of the types electric is meant to counter, this makes its job much harder when it has no coverage.

-ButchurPete-

I swear by psychic on my Umbreons, gives you something to fight back against fighting types. And the sheer joy of chunking 50% of a Venusaurs health. Man that feels good.

justhereforpogotbh

Isn't Psychic hot garbage now though?

yungperky

It can last resort. But it's still garbage.

ssfgrgawer

Well yes, but because it doesn't hit anything super effectively I didn't bother including it. It's only benefit is hitting a few things neutrally, which electric does to many types anyway. The only benefit from Normal typing is hitting things that resist Electric, so grass and Ground. You don't want Jolteon to fight ground types so that means hitting grass types. Speaking of hitting grass, It does get Pin missile (bug type) in the main series games, which could make it a pseudo Chargabug/vikavolt but given it's stats don't translate to Pokemon go well (glass cannon without a broken fast move and powerful STAB Charged moves to abuse Aka Gengar) and Chargabug/Vikavolts stats DO translate well to PoGo, Jolteon will never topple their reign.

yungperky

Yea, totally. Also defensively speaking the single electric type just isn't it. One of the reasons chargabug works so well is it's secondary typing.

Unkle_Iroh

One weakness and three resistances "isn't it"? Electric is a stunning type defensively. Chargabug has two weaknesses-the typing works well because it resists counter and fire types aren't big. Is just all about placement compared to whatever else is doing well.

Extra-Mix5529

Everyone is forgetting the obvious. You need a legacy move, if you don't want to burn an elite TM then you might want to wait to go fest to see if a few more eevolutions get their legacy move. I think 2 of them got it during lunar new year. I used an elite TM on an ultra league sylveon and i do not regret it, however i am probably in the minority.

Scjar

I can evolve Eevee into a 99.7% rank Jolteon or 99.12% Sylveon. I know Sylveon is generally higher on pvpoke but wanted to get a general consensus which would be a better pick?

Disagree that Sylveon is terrible. It's perfectly usable, though it faces stiff competition, as there are quite a few Fairies that do a similar job or better. Note I say it's usable, not that it's good. It's budget Charmer, basically. Jolteon though, that one is straight garbage by every imaginable metric. It's something you use when you actively want to throw your matches lmao

Similar_Task_2132

Why not umbreon?

rttr123

Because umbreon is like Pidgeot. Hundo (or near hundo) + BB is needed for ultra league. A rank 11 Jolteon means this Eevee has a 3/15/13 iv. Which is awful for umbreon in Ultra league

poppertheplenguin

Not terrible for GL tho
