Yeah, Mew had a single 30 day time gate on the same step that also required catching 30 of each type and 151 unique species. Catching 30 dragons outside of an event or 30 ice types in summer months probably would take you about a month anyways, and every other task for shiny Mew is pure grind. 151 research tasks, 151km walked, 1510 catches. None of that had a time gate and you could work it at your own pace. That's what a Masterwork should be.
Tbh, the Kecleon is less offensive than the 20 day stop spin streak. That’s a *lot* of gasoline, time, and hassle going all the way to town just to tap my phone a couple times and drive home, or have to invent useful things to do while I’m there. If it were simply 20, or even 100, separate daily spins, that would be eminently reasonable if slow, but making it consecutive is obnoxious. Catching Pokemon on consecutive days takes like a minute of opening the app, it’s child’s play, but the stops are utterly at the mercy of where you live.
Even ten best buddies, which I finished less than a month ago for sake of perspective, at least was something I could actually work on. The 20 stop spins is at the mercy of my life schedule (even if I were willing to make the trek 20 days in a row, if family obligations tie me down at home on day 19, it’s worthless).
It took me four months to find 10 kecleon despite frequently hunting for them. I’ll take the 20 day stop steak please. Streaks are annoying but I find it more annoying to have to actually examine every stop I come across individually for kecleons

It's more of a vibes thing. With something like page 1 you can play for an hour, play for two or whatever, and see your progress. It feels good. When it's just daily, it's more a to-do list.

I do too. One day we’re going to be doing MW research for an Ogerpon and the first page is going to be 9 different catch 1017 pokemon specific to a region.

The first page gives me a reason to catch Pokemon that I've stopped catching long ago and makes it fun to check the app more often

Niantic needs to put more effort in actually making these research feel rewarding with proper challenges and be creative with all the money they leeched off us
These should have incredibly difficult challenges to it OR time gates. Like, "10 Excellent Curves in a row on 10 different pokemon" or catch a pokemon a day for 14 days, something in that vein.
Challenge players and if their abilities are lacking they'll still unlock it but far more slowly.
I kind of hate these but also I’m still stuck on catching useless Kecleon as someone who doesn’t spin many stops a day I have only gotten about 6-7 since it started. At least with these tasks I play everyday so I should be able to easily achieve without issue. Just sucks for people who dedicate their time to finish first

That's a lot easier to do than finding 10 keckleon. It would be a horrible grind, but you could do it in 5 days with enough new friends.

Pretty much this. Streaks are annoying, but at least it's something you have control over. I'm still on 8 Kecleon since I'm at the whims of RNG.
I can understand that and be annoyed I’ve only seen 6 Kecleon since they debuted and none of them counted towards the catch 10 requirement
