Would be cool if they expanded the # of cities they go to.
I think that takes away the allure of people traveling in though, but the amount of money they can rake in from more trainers playing the event and buying merch/tickets would be nuts. Do it!
I think they should more than double the number they do, but keep the number of weekends the same so that people who can't go aren't left with nothing to do. My idea would be 2 in North America (ideally 1 on the east coast, 1 on the west coast), 2 in Europe (1 in either France, Spain, Portugal, or the UK; and the other in Eastern Europe or Germany), 1 in Japan, 1 either in Southern Asia or Australia (because those areas have 0 chance at hosting a go fest since there has to be 1 in Japan). Maybe you do a couple more in some other areas idk. Maybe to make planning easier, the 2 NA ones for example would be the same event on the same weekend, so you just go to whichever is closer.
They could do them in multiple locations on the very same day in rotation zones so the servers aren't overloaded. AS AN EXAMPLE:
Just in one weekend they could do one or two cities in each of these zones :
\- Australia, Central Asia, Western Europe, North America
and then the next weekend: one or two cities in
\- New Zealand, Japan/East Asia, Eastern Europe, (S. Africa?), South America
Yeah I think I would buy a pair of tickets if it was local and I’ve been a day 1 F2P player. Just to do the special research as some fun scavenger hunt type outing.
But I’m not willing to travel more than a day trip or where I have to pay a hotel.
It's also a problem of how busy these cities are in general.
Why do we keep having this huge venues in cramped places already busy with car and foot traffic. And then big expenses on top of it all.
We could do Pogo events in a significantly less crowded city and it would cause significantly less disruption for everyone
Oddly, it could be more disruptive. Big cities have accommodations for large amounts of people (not just hotels, but stuff like public transportation). They’re used to it, it’s what they do.
I have no idea how many people travel to these things, but if it’s a large number; the only real options are big cities. That’s not even considering that the big cities are where the best gameplay is available.
Thats what Global is for.
And they need to be in larger cities because they need the infrastructure to host that many people.
you need a space for thousands, and enough hotel rooms, transportation and food options.
Yeah but it also gives people the opportunity to make a trip out of it for multiple reasons. I happened to be in LA for Sinnoh fest for the PGA golf tournament taking place the same weekend anyway.
Half the GoFest is also the "City Experience" since they kick you out of the special "park" spawns after 4 hours.
So i dont know what city you live in, but you need enough Gyms/Stops in your city to make 2 days of "City Experience" worth it as well.
NYC Manhattan is like 20 gyms/spots per square foot. Instant 20 pops at every gym. another reason it was so perfect for PoGo. once you got kicked from the park you actually almost had MORE to do for the 2 days of the City Experience.
There is NO way they can make everyone happy.
Going to big cities is the only way to make as much people happy as possible.
They do a global version for a reason too. 😉
I have travelled a few times to GoFests already, but I would be even more likely to do so if they were happening somewhere closer to me rather than half a continent away.
I travelled to the States from Australia for GoFest last year and combined the weekend with a visit to my daughter who lives in Boston. I would like to do the same this year, but it’s so frustrating having to wait this long for a date and a city. I have plans to make, tickets to book…. I wish they could let us know where and when a bit sooner.
It's a huge undertaking to come into a new city, find a venue, and navigate all the permitting and fees buerocracy to have an event this size. It makes sense that they want to reuse previous cities instead of making new plans in cities they're only going to visit once.
Absolutely. I’m close by to NYC but hadn’t ever gone to Randall’s Island Park.
It STILL took days if not weeks of planning on how to optimize my gameplay for the event + navigate NYC, get to the park, plan my day and when I’ll eat, etc.
Couldn’t imagine.
DC is the dream for me. I'm a 45 minute train ride away. Round trip only $20 and wouldn't need a hotel. Anywhere mid-Atlantic or north on the east coast would be great though!
I havent been in 3 years, but my recollection is that DC hotels are surprisingly cheap in the summer. As long as congress is not in sessions, you can find a nice place as low as $80 a night. In NYC, nothing under $200
I legit think DC would be a great location for an in-person event like go-fest.
Not sure if they could realistically do the “park” part of the event on the mall proper, but I know the city has hosted ticketed events at West Potomac Park before so that could be an option.
Also Boston doesn't have the open space for it. The common just isn't feasible. Actually, I'm changing my mind. Pope John Paul Park could work space wise, but it's not near any real infrastructure like hotels, food or T stops. Maybe the esplanade.
Boston would be great for me selfishly. But yea, i dont see the kind of infrastructure and space there to make it work.
NYC was perfect because the city is built for it. Its the whole point of NYC. Hotels food and parking literally stacked on each other every other building. Boston? Yea not so much. the line at Wahlburgers is around the block at that point.
I would love DC but really tricky to plan events on the National Mall. Also there’s a rule about not allowing private ticketed events on the Mall, though I wonder if that’s different for a virtual event
There was at some point serious discussion with a group about a Brissy event. More than just talk. Covid ended it, but communication with the government about permits and locations had started from memory. It was for the Safari events though.
Was going to be the first of the city wide, with 3 hubs - Botanic Gardens, Roma St Parklands and Southbank - biggest issue was getting Southbank Corp to give the permit.
With heavy bias I would love it to be Toronto. Montréal at least had a Safari Zone in 2019 which was a great event.
The video though feels like San Francisco is one of them.
Montreal would be great. They can use Parc Jean-Drapeau which is minutes from downtown and accessible by Metro. Just don't do the same weekend as Grand Prix lol. That would be an interesting mix of people - Pogo and F1 fans...
As someone who grew up in Calgary, this would be literal hell. I remember trying to do community day on July 2018, and man it was PACKED. I’ve heard from friends and family that since then, Stampede has only grown, and has outgrown the grounds. Not saying Go Fest would be at the grounds, but logically it would be somewhere downtown, which, during stampede would be packed
My experience with the Sinnoh tour taught me how the spawns are so heavily controlled. Doing the “city experience” was so much better than actually attending the event.
This! Both Seattle and NYC the City experience so far outdid the park that I just did the collection challenges, picked up my t-shirt and then went around doing trades because the spawns weren't as good and saved my shiny hunting for the city.
Much earlier announcement this year. Wonder if European Go Fest is moving back to late June/early July.
I hope it goes back to Dortmund. Nicest of the three parks which have hosted it by far.
I’m planning on going if we qualify and we have a game in Dortmund, so that would be perfect. Like you say though seems very unlikely they’ll host it at the same time.
Germany will host Euro 2024 this June 14 to July 14 . So I don't think Germany is possible in that period . Maybe they change country again .. or maybe they schedule Go fest again in august ?
Berlin was also really nice but there was very little tree cover and taking a regional bus afterwards was difficult. I didn't fancy walking 30 minutes to the nearest metro after the silly number of steps I walked that day. Beers on tap in the park was great in both Dortmund and Berlin too.
London absolutely hammered it down on the Saturday so it was an overall miserable day and there was so much NIMBY drama about the use of the park that I doubt Niantic will bother coming again.
Wherever it is, I hope the city experience add-on/extra day remains.
I thought the London Park was Ok for playing but it took to long from there to get somewhere good for the City Part.
I think if it is half day Park, half day City the best choice from Former gofest location would be dortmund
Last year everything seemed last minute. I was wondering if they were going back to the 2022 schedule model with the global event to start the season, the European event in late June, the North American event in mid July, the Japanese event in early August, then a global finale event to end the season. The mythical was Shaymin so they did the Land Forme for global then the Sky Forme for the in-person plus the finale. I kinda liked that model and I figured it would be Phione + Manaphy with that model. Probably not with Marshadow though
I was wondering also with the earlier announcement if they were going to have it in June or early July to avoid weekends around the Olympics in Europe. I know they can avoid a city Paris event but maybe they are trying to avoid around the Olympics all together. Flights to Europe are already manic and far higher this summer than I have found in previous summers due to the Olympics. A lot of people are coming to other EU cities and taking the trains into Paris. I do hope it is in June or early July, far less hot in June.
With elevation added and this announcement directly after and Marshadow being found at Mt Tensei in movies I believe. I’m assuming mountains and what better mountains than Denver?!!
Location wise, Denver would be perfect! However, bringing in people from all over to walk around all day would be a problem since people aren't used to the elevation
I would say walking around a flat park won't be difficult. It's when going uphill that it really hits you. That was my experience here when I moved. Also was guzzling water from thirst for the first few weeks probably spurred by elevation and dry climate. Denver...and most cities on the Front Range are relatively flat.
I was worried about the actual PoGo Day venue as even Civic Center Park is not ideal for GoFest in Denver, but now that they are doing stadiums, I can see Mile High Stadium hosting it.
The "City" experience could run from Fort Collins through Boulder and down to Colorado Springs. So many outdoor sites that could be explored in that region.
Denver needs to make up that $88 million Russel Wilson is getting paid to not play anymore lol.
I have never been to denver but im down. Let PoGo cook.
I realy hope they anounce it this week and the events will be july or August. For people who have to take vacation days, everything Shorter then 4 months is very difficult.
I qould actualy live if they would just anounce gofest dates in devember, I would love to go to Japan fo gofest and 2 weeks of sightseeing but I need to book every vacation longer then a week in devember so I either have to guess or I cant go.
at least they didnt do the thing where they do a pop up in game that just takes you to the tweet that announces the announcement. They did that with the Wonder stuff, so obnoxious
It does but the rest of the buildings don't line up with where that building is. Unless they've edited the skyline to be fake, or have buildings from multiple cities.
I wonder if they're going to make Zenith form available somehow. I know they're not releasing the shiny yet, but for those who don't know, Marshadow's shiny is exactly IDENTICAL to the original. It only changes colors when in Zenith form. Without his form, Marshadow would be the most lame shiny in all of Pokémon Go.
Zenith form is just the color Marshadow turns during attack animations. It’ll most likely be the same as mainline games and you’ll only see zenith form when Marshadow is using an attack.
Maybe it’s jigglypuff standing on top of a Sudowoodo?
But seriously there’s no way it’s a Marshadow costume. I’m assuming this could also be the reason this season is heavily Alola/Gen 7 based. It’s most likely prep for next season and an Alola themed Gofest. If we’re lucky maybe we’ll see necrozma and 3 of its 4 forms. The trailer for the season had 3 ultra Wormholes and the only ultra beast we’re missing are Stakataka, Blacephalon, Necrozma, and Naganadel (I don’t think Naganadel will be in raids this seasons, I think they’ll just let our poipole evolve).
Yeah once they made a hard pivot from Sinnoh Tour to Ultra Beasts Alola during GoFest seemed to make the most sense. Its a little surprising to not see Manaphy and/or Arceus but they're planning some big thing for those that won't pay off at all.
Yup. There is still Manaphy and Arceus, but Arceus doesn't seem like a Go Fest Mythical to me, and they don't seem to want to touch Manaphy.
But yeah, after Gen 7, they really slowed down with Mythicals
Come on Florida!!! The southeast US has never hosted an in-person event! Make it happen!
On a serious note, Florida probably shouldn't get a go fest due to the weather but the Southeast needs to host Go Tour next year. Also, International Drive in Orlando would make for a fun City Safari
I can't believe that Pikachu and Eeevee are going to be featured!!
Maybe even with hats!
Hold on now, they might have some kind of flower crown instead
Best we can do is Pawmi.
And probably still no shiny.
I wouldn't be mad if they released Christmas Pawmi. That costume was so friggin' cute I actually bought a plushie lol
Can you spare some Paldean Starters?
Would be cool if they expanded the # of cities they go to. I think that takes away the allure of people traveling in though, but the amount of money they can rake in from more trainers playing the event and buying merch/tickets would be nuts. Do it!

Or visiting friends/family in that location, whether or not they're also pogo players.

Too bad the shiny rates aren’t the same.
They could do satellite cities like for Ingress Anomalies.
I have travelled a few times to GoFests already, but I would be even more likely to do so if they were happening somewhere closer to me rather than half a continent away.
I travelled to the States from Australia for GoFest last year and combined the weekend with a visit to my daughter who lives in Boston. Selfishly hoping for DC, Philly or Boston. GOFest on the National Mall would be pretty cool. Downside of Boston is that hotel rates are ALWAYS high.

Yeah last year in NYC it was about $275 a night where I stayed. LA was $200. Wouldn't mind it being cheaper.
Is that pretty close? DC is a pretty high COL area. Luckily they have a nice metro system so you can afford to find someplace further out.
I legit think DC would be a great location for an in-person event like go-fest. Not sure if they could realistically do the “park” part of the event on the mall proper, but I know the city has hosted ticketed events at West Potomac Park before so that could be an option.
Didn’t consider DC! As a Delawarean that or Philly would be an ideal
Delawareans rise up 🍻 Philly would be tight
Also Boston doesn't have the open space for it. The common just isn't feasible. Actually, I'm changing my mind. Pope John Paul Park could work space wise, but it's not near any real infrastructure like hotels, food or T stops. Maybe the esplanade.

The more I think and look at it, the more I like the Esplanade. Let's make it happen.
Yes! I would love for it to be DC. Only a short train ride away for me!
Also hoping for Philly, but I wonder if having the Safari Zone event a couple years ago affects that choice
Justice for Safari Zone Philly! It got canceled
May be announced at PaxEast in Boston. I agree with Boston be a great spot
Where though? Where would you be able to host Thousands of people and have enough hotels and food choices for all of them?
Even more selfishly hoping for Pittsburgh, but that’s a pipe dream so I’ll take Philly and make the drive
I would love DC but really tricky to plan events on the National Mall. Also there’s a rule about not allowing private ticketed events on the Mall, though I wonder if that’s different for a virtual event
I want DC so bad and I don’t even live in DC.
At least us Australians know that it won’t be, or ever be, us
Im in NZ and hoping Aus gets it one day since it's about as far as I'd travel for Pokemon go
Funny, I'm in Australia and would love it if NZ got an event. Would be a great excuse to visit for the first time!
There was at some point serious discussion with a group about a Brissy event. More than just talk. Covid ended it, but communication with the government about permits and locations had started from memory. It was for the Safari events though.
That i am very aware of, Brisbane had safari zone locked in, announced was going to be in April 2020 and then the world went to hell
Botanic gardens I think from memory. Guess we can only hope one day they pick that back up for an event
Was going to be the first of the city wide, with 3 hubs - Botanic Gardens, Roma St Parklands and Southbank - biggest issue was getting Southbank Corp to give the permit.
Toronto or Montreal, please! Need me a Canadian GO Fest
I’d love Toronto Go fest. Would go down for the entire weekend
Yeah, that was how they exactly did it last time. Part of it was on the racetrack itself as well.
PLEASE TORONTO PLEASE NIANTIC
I'd settle for Ottawa as well.
Unlikely but will throw in an option for Ottawa as well 🙏🏼
Should do Calgary during the stampede
As someone who grew up in Calgary, this would be literal hell. I remember trying to do community day on July 2018, and man it was PACKED. The hell with Calgary. Edmonton or Vancouver.
Lmfao @ Edmonton
Lol, I live there and this is the appropriate response.

Munich Olympiapark would be perfect :>
No chance it's moved up and put in Germany while euro is going on

Really? Found it awful. Small park and a lot of people, awful cell reception.
Yeah, I went for 2019 Go Fest. Didn’t have any of those issues fortunately. The park is pretty small but it never felt cramped
Last year everything seemed last minute. I was wondering if they were going back to the 2022 schedule model with the global event to start the season, the European event in late June, the North American event in mid July, the Japanese event in early August, then a global finale event to end the season. Same. But for more selfish reasons 🙈😅
Gotta give people enough time to get cheap airfare so they can afford more paid add ons.
Come on Toronto come on Toronto
Denver!
With elevation added and this announcement directly after and Marshadow being found at Mt Tensei in movies I believe. I’m assuming mountains and what better mountains than Denver?!!
Nepal! /s
😂😂 China really won’t POGO then
Location wise, Denver would be perfect! However, bringing in people from all over to walk around all day would be a problem since people aren't used to the elevation
Idk I hear this but bringing people into humid areas, cold areas, and other countries could be just as bad.
Go look up the elevation of Mexico City and compare that to Denver 😉
True true
I would say walking around a flat park won't be difficult. It's when going uphill that it really hits you. That was my experience here when I moved. Also was guzzling water from thirst for the first few weeks probably spurred by elevation and dry climate. Denver...and most cities on the Front Range are relatively flat.
I’m twisting myself into knots to convince myself that the Wells Fargo building is what they depicted.
Denver, Lets PoGo Let Niantic cook
The city doesn’t matter to us in Oz or NZ because it won’t be any closer than Tokyo or LA for us. Our job is to beta test not participate.
Yeahhhh. Could you imagine if it was Perth? It’d be easier to just go to Japan..
It’d have to be Sydney, in all honesty. It’s the most central and not that expensive for NZers to come over.
Sydney Olympic park would be good, it’s a pretty good sized area (about the same size as the place in Osaka was last year I guess)
Paris is outt because of Olympics is there this year
I realy hope they anounce it this week and the events will be july or August.
Especially for Japan, we would want more time in advanced. My community is talking about Japan for 2025 but prices will be higher 3 months out.
Ah, yes. Niantic's announcement for an announcement. Classic.
At least they confirmed Marshadow
They seem to have the desired effect
at least they didnt do the thing where they do a pop up in game that just takes you to the tweet that announces the announcement. They did that with the Wonder stuff, so obnoxious
Let’s go Atlanta
Bring it to my town of 3000 people in South Dakota
Marshadow has 265 atk vs Terrakions 260, Lucarios 236 or Machamps 234 Vs Gengars 261, Chandelures 271 Could potentially learn Counter, Hex, Shadow Claw Close Combat, Aura Sphere, Brick Break, Shadow Ball, Shadow Sneak. Marshadow could potentially be REALLY strong 👀
You’ll get astonish and you will like it
If it learns counter, shadow ball, and one other decent move, Annihilape just got downgraded for PvP
Nah, annihilape is very good in great and ultra league too. Marshadow looks a bit too frail for that. Maybe it will be good in Masters
Not necessarily. Annihilape is more made for GL and UL, whereas Marshadow will be tailor made for ML, with its more attack-weighted stats.
I hope for city in uk.
Gary, Indiana!!! Hey, a guy can dream :(
Hopefully global go fest isn’t the last weekend of august again.
Anyone recognize the skyline/buildings?
Let me guess, somewhere in Japan?
Return to Chicago please lol
That building in the pic looks like Chicago building
It does but the rest of the buildings don't line up with where that building is. Unless they've edited the skyline to be fake, or have buildings from multiple cities.
Please no. The US is more than just East coast, West coast, and Chicago. They need to do one in Texas.
What shadow was that ?
Marshadow...
But, we need Manaphy and Arceus
Well we’re not getting them
$5 each.
100% [Marshadow](https://pokemondb.net/pokedex/marshadow). Which makes sense since we’re overdue for a Gen 7 mythical.
I wonder if they're going to make Zenith form available somehow. I know they're not releasing the shiny yet, but for those who don't know, Marshadow's shiny is exactly IDENTICAL to the original. So basically like Xerneas?
100% Jigglypuff from a weird angle. Watch it just be a Marshadow outfit and not the Pokemon
Pikachu with a Marshadow hat
I hope London in mid June, simply because i will be there at that time :D
Looking at the buildings in the video looks like Chicago :(
Maybe a Florida city low chances of that happening
That would be miserable for a Gofest. It's more likely for a winter region tour IMO.
Yeah winter tour that would be great. Florida in the summer is too hot unless you are staying at the beach.
Miami would be your best shot.
Why wouldn’t Orlando be an option?
Munich pls 🙏🏻🥹
Europe - please not germany until the EC has ended Japan - please in august Thats all i want
Boston!!!!
I just want to know the dates five months in advance so I’m sure my pto request goes through before it gets blocked off!
*laughs and then cries in southern hemisphere*
Sydney please 😫😫
Singapore please. Grandmas got to play.
AUSTRALIA PLEASE Specifically Brisbane 😇
London needs another shot at this... Last year my nominated day was absolutely pouring with rain almost all day.
Welcome to the british isles
I was there too. The weather sucked, absolutely agreed on, but I had an absolute blast that day.
Honestly, the Saturday Afternoon slot was like a downpour.
Hawaii and they're announcing it this early so that fans can get hotel and flight tickets at a slightly more reasonable price. That's my guess.
Please be in Denver! Right in the middle of the U.S. Mostly id love to do an in person event
Is Go fest the same as go tour? Will it be available globally after the cities are done?
Difference event, but yes, it will be available globally after the cities are done.
Yes.
Autódromo Interlagos- São Paulo Brasil
Makes me realize how few mythicals are left.
Yup. There is still Manaphy and Arceus, but Arceus doesn't seem like a Go Fest Mythical to me, and they don't seem to want to touch Manaphy. But yeah, after Gen 7, they really slowed down with Mythicals
How far in advance do Niantic usually do announcements for announcements? Like, do people think we’ll be told the locations this week?
Going to guess. It will be London, Madrid, Amsterdam in Europe. Once again nothing even remotely close to Eastern Europe.
Vancouver please! Nothing fun ever comes here!
Looking forward to the disappointment of no southamerican Go Fest location again this year
Nah, it's not worth it. The last 2 go fests I did I got 2 shiny. I'd rather just go and enjoy the set up and not buy a damn ticket.
Madrid calling it now
I'm moving to Texas so come on over Niantic!
The shadow at the end of that teaser was definitely Marshadow btw
For Europe, Switzerland would be great, I mean, its right in the middle of the Continent, right Niantic, RIGHT?
I'm still waiting for the F2P release of Keldeo lol hopefully it'll be before this one
Fingers crossed for an event in New Orleans since they are hosting the 2024 Pokemon International Championships.
I would hope not. It’s too hot/humid in the summertime.
Can we have Italy for once? 🫠
Palfest is between Chicago, Detroit and Philly.
I do think Salt Lake City would be a great location. It's even got free public transportation downtown.
San Francisco, Italy, Yokohama
Ah yes, the beautiful city of Italy
Italy, Texas
The BEAUTIFUL city of Italy, Texas
Pretty sure that was fake since it was supposed to be announced on Pokémon day. Also it’s Rome
Also supposedly according to the “leak” we were getting koraidon and miraidon, but it seems to be dusk mane and dawn wings necrozma.
And also weren't all the non go parts of that leak incorrect as well
Rome in August's a terrible choice. Around that time of year it's probably very hot. (hot enough to wanna take it easy)
It’s probably not much different than Osaka to be honest (I’ve been to both in the summer).
I believe it's fake too. And thank you for remembering me Rome!
Kinda crazy there’s never been a full event in sf
Imagining Rome would be fantastic, I haven't been to Europe since dortmund I'd love to go to another
It would be but July or August in Rome is unbearably hot hot hot. The city is amazing though.
Ohio. Any city will do. The internet has made a meme of Ohio so let’s get a city in Ohio for once.
Come on Florida!!! The southeast US has never hosted an in-person event! Make it happen! On a serious note, Florida probably shouldn't get a go fest due to the weather but the Southeast needs to host Go Tour next year. Also, International Drive in Orlando would make for a fun City Safari
