I wholeheartedly feel that Jeremy should have stayed dead. Not because I dislike the character or the actor that play him but because he served his purpose. Let’s start with Jeremy. Jeremy should have stayed dead, bringing him back hurts the story arc of both Elena and Bonnie. It’s not secret that Elena constantly got whatever she wanted even if it was to the peril of someone else. In season 4 Elena turned off her emotions because she could not deal with the pain of losing her brother. This could have been a pivotal moment in her character arc. Learning to live without her brother. But instead that opportunity was ruined. Also, the TVD writers did this often with the character of Bonnie I must say, but to me it’s makes absolutely no sense why Bonnie would bring him back after all the consequences she suffered after bringing him back at the end of season 2. Jeremy being resurrected regressed two characters simultaneously. Lastly, the actor ending up leaving the show anyways. So there’s that.
I think that it would’ve been better to trade Jeremy for Jenna. The actor for Jeremy was already in and out of the show for starters and he inevitably left anyways. Elena would still have a care giver and Bonnie could’ve still ended up with Enzo. Instead of Alaric being killed and used as an original, he becoming part of the five/vampire hunter since he comes back for the last few seasons anyways it would’ve been a much better use of his character since he was already a vampire hunter and it would’ve still enhanced his power. Edited for clarity.
You make a solid case. I agree 100%. I would have loved that arc for Elena. I feel like the chemistry between her and Damon could've helped from her losing her brother and learning to deal.
I would have liked Ric to stay dead to preserve his friendship with Damon. That episode where Damon says he misses him while having a drink and ghosts Ric saying you too my friend >>>
You’re right. That scene would have had SO much more impact overall if Ric had stayed dead. Also COULD have been such an amazing point for Damon to begin truly growing as a character, without Elena needing to be his emotional anchor or whatever. But they just decided to undo it all.
She was incapable of turning good as despite her past she was a sociopath and unable to change like other vampires.
Even Klaus was capable of change, not her though.
She was only incapable because the writer MADE IT that way. Her redemption arc as a human could've been so easy, she didn't need to possess Elena, that entire storyline was unnecessary.
Stefan could've redeemed her and she could've ended up with him like she wanted.
Yeah she could have you’re right and if they’d gone that direction she would be a watchable character, she comes across more as annoying than totally evil so while her actions aren’t any worse than Damon’s, he’s just fun to watch.
Elena. I feel like leaving her in a box after the actress left the show was silly and stifled character growth and the storyline in the show.
Damon. He should have been the one to sacrifice himself instead of Stefan.
Klaus. I’m glad they didn’t in hindsight but during seasons 3 and 4 I definitely felt like he should have died.
Alaric. Should have stayed dead dead.
definitely agree with elena and alaric. with elena, her (and nina’s) exit would’ve been way more impactful if she had just died. i like way better than holding her over bonnie’s head for years and also the awkward reunion w nina and ian😭
alaric well maybe i just resent that he was the headmaster in legacies, he absolutely did NOT belong in that role
Yes exactly! It was a weird ass choice to do that. I can’t stand Alaric nor MD so it was an all around nope for me. I never watched Legacies because he was in it.
Stefan should have had that cure down his throat a long time ago. He was miserable as a vampire and he was more caring and empathetic as a human. Same with damon
He tells Rebekah he is looking for the cure, not just for Elena but for himself too. I thought that was a really nice moment.
If only they didn't ruin it at the time with "there is only one" and the s4 finale where he hands it over to Elena. I get why he did it but man I was pissed. And then it goes to waste on Katherine.
I wish the focus was more on making a great finale that made sense. Not brining every character back (their mother and their doppelganger) for nostalgia purposes. The show was not over yet. They wasted screen time on the Donovans and such. Nobody cares about his mother.
They could have done an after finale special (a panel or something with the whole cast). They do that anyway.
Alaric should have stayed dead, even if I actually liked him in legacies. It severely hurt TVD when he came back, especially since they had to asspull his original status away.
Damon should've 100% died during the time the Originals were in town. He, for some reason, jumps Kol out of nowhere, snaps his neck while Kol's entire family watches, and then is able to just walk out of there.
I mean, the entire Mystic Falls Gang had insane plot armor during the Originals. (Don't let me get started on Elena and Jeremy killing Kol)
Especially since Kol was apparently such a problem Elijah had to sometimes help Klaus 🗡️him. Oh, but a newbie vampire and an extra strong human take him with vervain water?
The only one they shouldn't have killed is Jeremy imo. It would just be way over the top for Elena.
These writers' sole purpose seemed to be how can we induce as much suffering as possible.
Back in S3 I wanted Klaus to die. Didn't think he would, so was shocked and pumped when Olaric stuck him.. Only to be deceived of course.
Glad he survived.
i understand ab the whole line up not being vampires. it just felt like his character was diminished after him and caroline broke up, or even after he lost his fiancée.
Sometimes I wished Elena would have died for good. After she became a vampire and switched Salvatore brothers, she brought nothing to the show except annoyance. I dislike Season 7 & 8 but these seasons would have been so much worse with Elena and her me-me-me-me!
As far as the story goes, I think it would have made sense for both the Salvatore brothers to die for good and for Elena to move on and maybe find someone like Tom Avery. It would have been a full-circle moment if Salvatore brothers had died together and again in Mystic Falls and this time for another doppelganger (Elena) but this time they do find peace with each other.
TVD and TO should have switched their endings with each other.
I think most of the characters did die by the end of TVD.
I agree so much! I think if TVD and TO switched endings it would have made so much more sense. It just never made sense to me the Elijah would die with Klaus, because not only was it unfair to his character itjust didn't make sense. I always felt that Elijah would want to live and watch over Hope. I mean he loved his brother so much he would always fight to protect what/who Klaus loved, him leaving Hope all alone makes no sense.
It would also make much more sense for Stefan and Damon to have a "we'll finish this how started it moment". Because they missed so many moments were they should've been doing the right thing TOGETHER. But they had Stefan die alone to solidify the idea that he was always the better brother and it was actually really selfish to Damon's character growth.
The writers had favorites that's why the plot had such sucky flow.
Damon hands down. It is absurd that in spite of the horrible things he has done, for most of his life, he got a happy ending while virtually all the other characters except Elena, infinitely better characters, did not.
I mean, everyone you listed actually did die during the show.
If I had to pick out one character that seems universally hated, though, it would probably be Lillian Salvatore.
Possibly an unpopular opinion but we should’ve had no resurrections at all or like a maximum of 1. Elena should’ve died, Jeremy, Bonnie and Alaric all should’ve stayed dead, etc. Every character that died in a way that felt impactful for other characters and storylines shouldn’t have retroactively been made pointless.
The only one of these that isn’t actually a negative is Bonnie but she was so constantly disrespected as a character that it probably would’ve been better for both her and her real life counterpart Kat Graham.
Bonnie. I mean don't get me wrong she's my absolute favorite but she keeps sacrificing herself and never really got to live her life the way she wanted. I would have wanted her to find peace.
Ofc! Honestly if there were a different selection of characters I'd choose someone else like Matt but going off the choices given, it seems like Bonnie or Damon would be the most fitting.
Right😭 and she always had to have control over everything she was so snarky self absorbed and bitchy like nobody died and made you queen calm down🤣😭 she could’ve 100% stayed dead and I would’ve been happy let’s not forget she made Stefan turn off his humanity just cuz she was unhappy and wanted to ruin his life too🤷🏽♀️ just bcuz she’s jealous does not warrant her crappy behavior and attitude too I get jealous of some of my friends but it’s never with ill intentions and I’m never mean about it if anything I want to see them at the top even if it means I don’t get to be there alongside them in my journey in life Caroline should take a few notes and maybe she’d be likeable..
I agree!! And she always wanted elena seconds then got mad when they weren’t over Elena yet then she wondered why bonnie and elena left her out it’s because she’s too bitchy, insecure, annoying asf and a backstabber 😭🤦🏾♀️ always telling elena and bonnie secrets to men for male validation
No frrrrr all she was good for really was luring klaus she was kinda just a side character that was just there and her character didn’t really play an important role in the show she was literally only good for teaching new vampires and being klaus bait and MAYBE backup in a risky plan
If the question is who should have died, leaving aside our feelings for the character, then it's Damon. If the question is who I would have wanted to see die because the character annoys me, Elena.
I am prepared to get downvoted for this, but Caroline. Had Caroline been killed off or removed from the show prior to Candice getting pregnant (which I am in no way at all hating on Candice and her choice to have children🫶🏼) but the story line was changed by Julie Plec when she found out Candice was pregnant and changed details. It makes me wonder how the show was oringally supposed to go.
yall are gonna hate me but, bonnie. not for any other reason besides i just do not like her. while every character has their flaws, i just can’t sympathize or empathize with bonnie. though i will say, she did not deserve the ending she got.
Matt should have stayed dead. Was a jealous ex the whole show. Kicked Stefan out of the town he founded because he was still jealous Elena chose him all those years ago. It wasn’t to protect the city, crime still exists without vampires, in fact Stefan could’ve taken care of crime faster .
Elena 100%. People were breaking their necks for this girl, and I feel like she rarely did the same for those around her.
She should have died permanently.
Matttt!!! He was of no use to the plot and he was whiny all the time for no real reason. A lot of the time he would make things worse and interfere/ruin plans and fuck everything up 🙄
Aurora, Alaric or Jeremy. Actually just Jeremy, bro either died and came back immediately or managed by some divine intervention to narrowly miss death.
Elena i hope. Every other character is actually decent, has good development etc, but elena is just a bad character and should have never existed in the first place.
Better question would be which character should had stayed dead. They all come back like every other episode.
I wholeheartedly feel that Jeremy should have stayed dead. Not because I dislike the character or the actor that play him but because he served his purpose. Let’s start with Jeremy. Jeremy should have stayed dead, bringing him back hurts the story arc of both Elena and Bonnie. Matt, seriously how tf did he survive everything and DIDN’T EVER become a vampire?? Also the guy never had health insurance
Lmfao and the fact that his story carries over into legacies is wild 😭😭😭
This is the right answer
Its cause he was screwing plec
I gathered, but still
The most beautiful thing. Nobody deserves to live as much as Matt
Fr but i guess him screwing julie helped
Katherine should have died sooner.
And not come back as the queen of hell or whatever 😭
True. That he'll queen arc was awful. They couldn't find literally any other person??
They had Nina Dobrev for one episode and ran with it 😂
Yeah they could have just had some extra hell demon with a new name and new character, like Cade could have had a demon wife or something.
True 😂
Lmaooo what?? That's how she came back? The queen of hell? I completely missed this dumb plot.
thats a crazy thing to say considering she’s the main antagonist of the whole show
Yeah she could have died sooner and still done the same things she did at the end of the show.
Never I was mad asf when we lost Katherine. I wanted her to become good and marry Stefan. That queen of hell thing was insane thi

I agree she kept coming back for the dumbest reasons 😭
Matt…always Matt
Never matt
Alaric. Should have stayed dead dead.
definitely agree with elena and alaric. with elena, her (and nina’s) exit would’ve been way more impactful if she had just died. i like way better than holding her over bonnie’s head for years and also the awkward reunion w nina and ian😭 alaric well maybe i just resent that he was the headmaster in legacies, he absolutely did NOT belong in that role
I hate Alaric in legacies so much
I haven't even seen legacies but if it's anything like s8 Alaric...I can only imagine.
Yes exactly! It was a weird ass choice to do that. I can’t stand Alaric nor MD so it was an all around nope for me. I never watched Legacies because he was in it.
Agree so much with the first 2 even tho I like both those characters
I love them all but Alaric lol
yeah same I loveee Klaus but I don’t agree he should’ve died that’s why i only said i liked the first 2 aha
I can see killing off Damon or Klaus as doing well. I 1000% agree with Elena and Alaric dying.
Vicki should have stayed dead, I hated her being a ghost
her coming back (again) just to ring the charter bell pissed me off so bad
I wish the focus was more on making a great finale that made sense. Not brining every character back (their mother and their doppelganger) for nostalgia purposes. The show was not over yet. They wasted screen time on the Donovans and such. Nobody cares about his mother. They could have done an after finale special (a panel or something with the whole cast). They do that anyway.
Same! Her come back was annoying asf.
I'm not sure there is anything this community can agree on outside of maybe that they like the show. Maybe.
Some ppl can't even agree on that lmao
Alaric should have stayed dead, even if I actually liked him in legacies. It severely hurt TVD when he came back, especially since they had to asspull his original status away.
Oh the good old days when his death was actually sad.
I actually really like the idea that human medicine could save him
Matt…just Matt.
Lol yup. Ridiculous
Especially since Kol was apparently such a problem Elijah had to sometimes help Klaus 🗡️him. Oh, but a newbie vampire and an extra strong human take him with vervain water?
Also Bonnie. She does that whole thing against Klaus near s2 finale. The next time he sees her he's all cheery like nothing happened.
vicki, Jeremy, Alaric. they should've stayed dead
The only one they shouldn't have killed is Jeremy imo. It would just be way over the top for Elena. These writers' sole purpose seemed to be how can we induce as much suffering as possible.
Aurora
Isn’t aurora in the originals
And in Legacies
Yes, the red haired vampire from Klaus’ past, sister to Tristan of the Stricts/Strics idk
I mean they eventually got there hah
Back in S3 I wanted Klaus to die. Didn't think he would, so was shocked and pumped when Olaric stuck him.. Only to be deceived of course. Glad he survived.
Matt f donavan! Probably has something to do with the actors crying face, i cannot
Omg yes. His crying face is so bad!
Matt
elena - should’ve just left her in that coffin once she got put in it 🙄
matt, but that’s mainly bc i feel like he hardly contributed to the plot
He’s a good side character he kept the show grounded. The whole line up can’t be vampires like damn
i understand ab the whole line up not being vampires. it just felt like his character was diminished after him and caroline broke up, or even after he lost his fiancée.
Bonnie I love her but to achieve peace with her grams and Enzo
Sometimes I wished Elena would have died for good. After she became a vampire and switched Salvatore brothers, she brought nothing to the show except annoyance. I dislike Season 7 & 8 but these seasons would have been so much worse with Elena and her me-me-me-me! It’s cuz he so bad he gets the happy ending.
Elena, she was destined to die either way and I think her soul was like well wtf do I do now
Bill Forbes.
He did die? 😅
He was so bad that ppl are panicking he's still alive out there lol
OMG YES
I mean, everyone you listed actually did die during the show. If I had to pick out one character that seems universally hated, though, it would probably be Lillian Salvatore.
The obvious answer is Matt Donovan
Possibly an unpopular opinion but we should’ve had no resurrections at all or like a maximum of 1. Elena should’ve died, Jeremy, Bonnie and Alaric all should’ve stayed dead, etc. Every character that died in a way that felt impactful for other characters and storylines shouldn’t have retroactively been made pointless. Bonnie. I mean don't get me wrong she's my absolute favorite but she keeps sacrificing herself and never really got to live her life the way she wanted. I would have wanted her to find peace.
Bonnie didn’t need to die. She needed writers that didn’t hate her character😂
100% this! Bonnie deserves better!
Ofc! Honestly if there were a different selection of characters I'd choose someone else like Matt but going off the choices given, it seems like Bonnie or Damon would be the most fitting.
Awww I love bonbon too but that’s actually good reasoning. She deserved peace with her grams 😭😭😭
caroline. i grew to like her but her character wasn’t needed imo. she was just there to be there
matt LOL the fact he outlived klaus is a crime
I mean technically Klaus has a thousand years on Matt but Ik what you mean 😂
Matt, honestly I wish most of his scenes had just gone to Bonnie instead
Elena
Matt
Definitely Matt!
Caroline. Hated her in the first episode, hated her in the last episode
When I saw her in supernatural I was so happy
yesssss!
Damon just because of all the SINS that he has committed
Matt. He was more immortal than the actual immortal characters. He outlived Stefan, Klaus and Elijah.
Matt, someone needs to tell me his special power because the boy survived wolves, witches, and vampires with no lasting physical damage
This😭
Caroline, episode 1, don't care how
Never understood the Caroline hype in ANY seasons
Out of the pictures you have provided I say Caroline, she was my least favourite 😂
Caroline. Never really liked her storyline. I wish there had been more of Qetsiyah and Bonnie!
Caroline never really liked her🤷🏽♀️
Same she was so annoying
She was she was such a brat I didn’t like her💀
Fr and she was always so jealous of elena and being rude to her like girl 💀

Elena
Klaus in season 3. Mikael should have killed him. The whole if you kill an original, their whole sireline dies, shouldn't have been part of the plot.
That’s a regular part of vampire Mythos tho
If the question is who should have died, leaving aside our feelings for the character, then it's Damon. If the question is who I would have wanted to see die because the character annoys me, Elena.
I am prepared to get downvoted for this, but Caroline. It makes me wonder how the show was oringally supposed to go.
We already have so little klaroline, why would you take what little more we had at the end 😭
Jeremy, and Matt both should have stayed dead.
yall are gonna hate me but, bonnie. not for any other reason besides i just do not like her. while every character has their flaws, i just can’t sympathize or empathize with bonnie. though i will say, she did not deserve the ending she got.
Stefan
Damon
They coulda killed off Bonnie. Only cause Kat Graham was way too good for the show and deserved better writing.
Jeremy
Matt should have stayed dead. Was a jealous ex the whole show. Kicked Stefan out of the town he founded because he was still jealous Elena chose him all those years ago. It wasn’t to protect the city, crime still exists without vampires, in fact Stefan could’ve taken care of crime faster .
What show were you watching???
The Vampire Diaries. He was easily one of the most selfish characters next to Stefan.
Alaric, Jeremy, Katherine, and Vicki A person(s) i feel like should’ve came back to life is Lexi and grams.
klaus 🥰 i hate him so thats my reason
honestlhy to me at the very least, none in the pic should've died but since that finale happened.. oh well
We all already agreed Matt served no purpose. Goodbye Lmao
Matt should have died wayyy sooner
Why do I only see like 2 people saying Matt.. he should have died.
Elena. Right from the start. Less crying scenes would have been better for everyone.
Matt
Matt!
Elena 100%. People were breaking their necks for this girl, and I feel like she rarely did the same for those around her. She should have died permanently.
Elena
Stefan
He did
![gif](giphy|jqj5VXXND8V3tHVbfK|downsized)
CAROLINE she so damn annoying
Matt
MATTTTTT
elena or caroline. or damon if we’re talking last episode.
You’re just salty because he didn’t come out the closet 😒
i will ALWAYS be salty about that. like dude,,, just admit you have big gay crushes on big manly men!! we all knew it anyway!!
Matt he’s boring and added no value
Matt. Dude had plot armor.
Damon and Stefan
Caroline or Damon.
Damon and Stefan.
Damon.
Damon and Alaric!
Honestly? Damon
Caroline.
Idk klaus in s3 tvd and elena s6 oh damon in s8 the sacrifice
Matttt!!! He was of no use to the plot and he was whiny all the time for no real reason. A lot of the time he would make things worse and interfere/ruin plans and fuck everything up 🙄
Tyler he so annoying
Tyler did die. Damon killed him.
I just wish Damon would’ve killed him earlier
Damon
Caroline after her transition when Damon tried to stake her. The storyline would have still been the same.
Literally like she was not part of the storyline at all she was just there judging everyone
I think Matt
Matt!
Matt
Elena
Where's Matt?
Where's Matt?
Aurora, Alaric or Jeremy. Actually just Jeremy, bro either died and came back immediately or managed by some divine intervention to narrowly miss death.
Caroline and Damon
Damon
tbh i think damon should have sacrificed himself instead of stefan
Elena i hope. Every other character is actually decent, has good development etc, but elena is just a bad character and should have never existed in the first place.
Bonnie. And stayed dead
not doing this. have fun.
[удалено]
could say the same to you?
