The other day on a podcast I heard a theory that probably almost all the adult humans in the Pixar film “Luca” had probably been Fascists given that it’s set in 1950s Italy and they really don’t like others.
First thing I thought of seeing the creepy mickey mouse:

A Nazi flag in 1930s Germany was as synonymous with everyday life as an American flag was in 1950s America. This was likely before Hitler had even annexed Austria.
As far as these Germans were concerned, he was just an enthusiastic politician that wanted to restore Germany to a livable state.
It wasn't that hard to read about Hitler and what he had in mind before the war started. It was all there. "Mein Kampf" was released in 1925 just to name one source. Ignorance is a choice. So yeah, fuck them.
