Hilarious that the endpoint of the American political experiment is literally rule by a highly distributed, unelected cadre of geriatric judges for life. Checks and balances baby let’s fucking gooooooo lmao
If you insist on addressing this outcome from first principles, I guess the theory is something like “lawyers and by extension judges are the most moral and rational citizens”, which…lolololololol
That’s not really how that works and I hope y’all know it.
The Supreme Court is a stupid concept that should not exist, let’s get that clear. There is no world where that body is needed.
But things like abortion protections were only vulnerable to being overturned BECAUSE Dem legislators declined to codify it during multiple supermajorities because it was a good threat card to play for fundraising. “Vote for us or the Republicans will ban abortion!” They had at least a half dozen chances to pass a law that the SC couldn’t really do anything about.
Don’t act like it’s 9 people that are the problem with this evil empire. It’s ALL corporate politicians. (Which is 99% of them)
Radicalization is not inherently dangerous lol. You just gotta walk a tight rope, and dodge some bullshit. Cling to dialectical materialism and you'll be fine.
If not now, when?
Then you can always help those who will like when women joined the factories and medical teams en masse in both world wars.
Solidarity is always found if one goes looking for it.
Haha didn't take you for a jokester friend, but you're funny! You can't be despair-prone if you showcase your resilient bravery in commenting on your inner despair!
'Cause that's a recipe for a nuturing light coming from within, so please do me a kindness and continue sharing for imo, inner sentiments from a fellow worker like you are the fire which forges a durable unity.
Solidarity and empathy are human nature afterall.
I feel this so hard where I am. I got a group of seemingly like minded people together and nobody wanted to put in the effort to fucking do anything. It was so demoralizing I left and, go figure, they disbanded shortly after when nobody would commit to doing anything.
When you get after people to try and get active and fight or anything, all you get is "Well what are you doing?!"
***I'm trying to get people to fucking do something-literally fucking anything-other than sitting around complaining***
All anybody has are excuses. The brainwashed apathy has taken hold. It's always somebody else's fault, and it's somebody else's job to fix it.
What can you do when even “your party” cracks down on you with literal violence when you organize? See Occupy and college students’ anti genocide protests
I get what you're saying but that's no reason to roll over. I was trying to get them to organize local solidarity and mutual aid networks or a tenants union with me. Something to actually help people right now.
I would suggest looking for what established organisations already exist in your local area/state and make connections through that and maybe taking a shot a workplace organising if you're in work at the moment.
Inactive out of hopeless caution. a dozenish Christian psuedo-revolutionaries bought a house in Philly in the 80s and the police burned down 60 other houses to get to them. The FBI killed Fred Hampton for giving out breakfast and legal council. It's dangerous to get anywhere close to effective organizing in America.
Top tip: New Zealand is turning to shit too, just head straight for Australia. I mean it's turning to shit as well, but the pay and housing affordability is better.
Besides the way democratic countries are sliding, they'll all be this way in a few months. I say lay back and enjoy it. It's a hell of a toboggan ride.
and eventually America was saved by.. oh, let's say... Moe

Almost like the consitutional convention was full of lawyers. (35/55 if you were curious)
Yeah exactly. And they all (sic) owned slaves. 🪨 🇺🇸 🦅 🤡
I mean, the legislators can pass laws anytime they want
The supreme court can strike down literally any piece of legislation of any kind.

I'm already radicalized the most I can get
i mean, i can get more, but my family would be very very unhappy and i’d prob be heading down a pretty dangerous path
We're already there. If not now, when?
Reminder to never discuss plans on Reddit.

But it sadly, will not
Yeah, the depression has had me since I was a kid and I'm not in good enough shape to fight a war.
Then you can always help those who will like when women joined the factories and medical teams en masse in both world wars. Solidarity is always found if one goes looking for it.
As a despair-prone sack I appreciate this sentiment, friend. I’m not always as brave as I wanna be but I can work

Bro! 🤍 Consider me delighted and bolstered! The greatest solidarity and affection to you :)
When do we start, you know... the guillotine?
I don't see what's wrong with this sentiment, given how inactive the American left is.

It’s not inaction. It’s their goals aren’t the same goals as oil barons and Wall Street.
The problem with it is that it is routinely ignored
They’re doing minor eco-terrorism in Portland Oregon https://rosecitycounterinfo.noblogs.org/
What would you like to see the left do?
hahahahha this is good
Welcome to Dick Cheney’s America!
Brought to you by the complicity of the two corporate owned rightwing parties.

Fuck em, I'm sick of centrists and moderates enable the ratchet effect

Good day for accelerationists
There are no heroes, no saviors, only villains. Let it all burn. The rot must be cauterized.
My dude, the material and political conditions in this country don't care whether or not you want to be an accelerationist or not.
🙌
Don't get me wrong, I love the firendships. But it would be lovely if we could have one win besides the friends we made along the way.
I'm so radicalized this is neither surprising nor relevant.
