78 degrees? You trying to bake?!

DeLerps

Yes- are you not?

cid73

Throw some mesquite wood on the grates of your ac vents and remember to wrap yourself in butcher paper to help get past the stall.

herkalurk

I used to live in Phoenix, never let the inside of the car get that hot, even in the summer.....

CallMeMrMindfuck

Happened to me. Press and hold the power button for >10 seconds to hard reset it. Worked on mine.

DeLerps

I wish you an incredible 2024 thank you for your help!

CallMeMrMindfuck

You as well and good luck! That’s the only issue I’ve had with mine so far, makes me nervous it will come back. Hasn’t yet and it’s been over 2 months now.

mvanvrancken

Yup! Came in to suggest this, as I had a dead screen on startup a couple months ago and I googled the problem and came across the reset procedure (it’s probably also in the manual)

juicemw

Happens to mine once in a while in extreme heat. That or the display would work but be a different resolution and fuzzy. Doing this works ^. Also usually have to swap to radio / then back to APP on the infotainment when i plug in my phone to play music.

Fast_Ad_5340

I have a similar issue, infotainment turns on but no sound comes out of the speakers. Reset, restart etc. doesn’t help. Dealership has no clue either, keep trying software updates to no avail! I believe it’s a problem with the unit. If you hear of a solution, let us know!

Adventurous_Low_7432

The central brain unit probably went out. Had mine replaced and haven’t had any issues since. Mines a 2024 and was still under warranty.

ssjadam03

I had that issue. Everything would load up but no sound. Constant reboots etc. In layman’s term the infotainment module wasn’t “connecting” to the car. They replaced some connector part and it’s been fine since. Took dealer 3 days diagnose

culle085

I have this same issue!!

mvanvrancken

Did you try a hard reset? Hold down power button for 15 seconds and then hit it again

DeLerps

You bet!

SpeedyTaco22

What year? My 22 SE r line’s infotainment likes to reboot itself at least once per drive. I need to take it in but haven’t got around to it yet.

MimiSac1

After dealing with this for over a year, they replaced the motherboard

jenaeg

Yep. Took mine in and they replaced it also

jdgaidin12

Same. Replaced the entire thing. XM still freezes on startup sometimes, even still.

MimiSac1

Mine has just a couple times since I got mine.

Uncomprehendedgenius

Hold both buttons on both sides for hard reset for about 10 seconds. Worked on mine, but an European version. Cheers

polytician

This also works for my Tiguan in the USA.

Disastrous-Classic66

Mine has randomly turned off a couple of time, 2023 5k miles

Muted-Bad

Same thing happened to me, ended up replacing it with aftermarket one after dealership quoted me 3500 Canadian dollars to replace it with a factory one

Ansonm64

What aftermarket unit did you use? Or did you just have an older Tiguan with less integrated infotainment

notanotherteenfather

Does the aftermarket unit show you what the “Car” option in the original unit did?

Difficult_Age5947

Please let us know the cost of the aftermarket one. A dealership tried to use the high chance of screen failure and exorbitant cost of replacement to sell me a warranty. I left and bought a car with buttons and no warranty. That option is getting harder to find, so hopefully the aftermarket is affordable for these.

MimiSac1

Hold in the power button for the system. It should reboot??

SnooPickles6347

Mine just came back on in about a day and a half

Responsible_Rip9415

I experienced similar issues before. I was using navigator and CarPlay at the same time. The system just keep restarting

Gregan32

You probably just turned it off...

tdscmunsg

Had to take mine in for a new computer install….apparently it was a common problem in tiguans and some atlas models according to the dealership

videlicet2020

Did you go to a dealership? Wondering if I can take mine to a neighborhood mechanic for the same issue.

videlicet2020

Got it! I bought my 2018 used, so I need to check what warranties are still in place, if any

robwatkhfx

Happens to me all the time. All temperatures. Never tried the hard reset. I’ve been living with it until I can turn off the engine, open the driver’s door and then restart the car! That works 90% of the time.

CEGA884

I have a 21 R Line SEL premium and have had my head unit replaced twice and am still having issues with audio constantly cutting out, and the unit randomly going into a restart loop where it just shuts off (radio, digital dash) and restarts and then again

Possible_Fold4040

My issue with the infotainment system on my 22 SEL R Line is that the sound just goes out and stops working. Even a hard reset does not work. Have to turn off the engine for a few minutes and then back on. The worst part is that on 3 occasions so far there is this loud banging continuous deafening sounds that lasts for about 10 mins. sounds like machine guns coming out of the speakers. Recorded it and sent it in, dealer did not find any issues. This happened again last week, and I and sending the car in again.

Cferra

Are you using Bluetooth? It’s happened to me continuously with VWs and Bluetooth to the phone, CarPlay worked fine however

Possible_Fold4040

Yes, well Bluetooth is connected, but playing music and everything else through Apple CarPlay.

highwaycamera

23 highline r-line, 4000kms... does the same thing. It's going in soon to get checked out. Glad to know I'm not the only one, but also sucks knowing this is an issue

PromotionNo3021

When I had a Jetta this happened to me and they couldn’t fix it and I had to get the whole thing changed. :/

Zealousideal_Role591

If when the ignition is on you can connect your phone to Bluetooth it's just the screen that is dead

brahsumatra

Perform a hard reset, regardless if it works or doesn’t book an appointment with the dealer for a possible software update. If there’s one available and it works great, if it doesn’t you’re looking at a possible head unit replacement which is covered by the base warranty. The downside is with the chip shortage you could be looking up to three months for a new one unless Volkswagen will let a new one be ordered from them.

Reasonable_Cod_5481

Dealer has to do a hard reset. We had the same issue. Worked fine after that it’s very common issue

Stevoakascuba

Press and hold the power and tune button for soft reboot common issue until Vw finally releases an update.
