1. That turn signal doesn't meet minimum area requirements under US lighting regulations.
2. The Euro version has brake lights in the liftgate, which isn't legal under US lighting regulations. Brake and turn signal lights cannot be in the liftgate or trunk lid, they must be in nonmoving parts of the car body.
1. Have you seen them turn signals on a Tesla? They are smaller area than the Tiguan.
2. Euro version brake lights are on the outside in the tiguan not on the inside. https://youtu.be/IKxe-fmpfp4?si=2-1npIUZPMLaes-6
It's a cost saving feature to save a few dollars or cents on extra bulbs. So stupid I think.
Another factor is, in North America, VAG doesn't want to make VWs "too nice", for fear of cannibalizing Audi sales. That's why the NA-spec Tiguan is de-contented from the Euro version. If you want something with more features/content, VAG says "Go buy an Audi Q3".
Yep. There was a peer reviewed study that came out about 6 months ago that showed that amber rear turn signals have a significant reduction on rear-end crashes involving turning vehicles.

It’s where the yellow turn signal lights are here in Europe.
Ahh that makes sense. Wish we got those in the US, would make the lights look so much nicer
Yeah. I’m not sure why they converted the lights for the North American versions. I like the yellow as well.

Yeah and Toyota Venza, Mazda CX-5, Kia, Hyundai and so on does? That’s just bureaucratic horseshit if that’s the case.

Yeah but all the euro cars these days in the USA use stupid red turn signals. Bmw, audi, porsche etc. So stupid.

The turn signal appears to be on the body-section, not the actual liftgate, though.
The Tiguan has a brake light on the lift gate though.
My 2022 CX-5 has amber turn signals located within the outside brake lights. The inner lights are running lights.
Some high end German cars have fog lights for the back. My Audi, prestige trim, had them. Maybe that’s what they are?
Poor weather lights, I don’t think this has them.
The rear fog lights are under the reverse lights. But VW doesn’t equip them in the US/canada

Why? I was just asking a question
Does anyone know if you can add the yellow turn indicator lights?
You can buy EU version and replace it
Maybe via coding it?
