The address in a format which lets you search for it more easily: 東京都品川区東品川2-2-24 Enjoy it while it lasts!

samueljuarez

How do I copy the address? When I click it collapses your comment :(

xXxTaxEvasionxXx

I would tell you, but I have to weed out the competition… I screenshotted it and copied the address from my photo album

Rhopegorn

That is a “***feature***” of the *mobile app*. - either use u/xXxTaxEvasionxXx method, which is simple - or copy the post and paste it into your map, then remove what isn’t needed before searching. 如何致しまして

Disastrous_Resist495

Alternatively you can just search 2-2-24 Higashishinagawa on Google maps!

Svk78

The In n Out Burger is on Camrose.

drfusterenstein

Those are good burgers Walter

Svk78

Shut the fuck up, Donny.

WindJammer27

IIRC the last time they did this the line was 4 hrs long. ...I will try.

Odd-Kaleidoscope5081

They make it every year (minus Covid). Yeah, last year was absurd.

Oddsee

What's the point of this? If they're just gauging interest to see if it's worth building a permanent location, surely they have their answer already.

Helianthus_exilis

I read somewhere that it’s a way to help protect their trademark. I’ve been wanting to go but not with a four-hour wait.

Odd-Kaleidoscope5081

As said by others - they are protecting the trademark. Seems that Japan/asia has rule that the business needs to be present to keep the trademark going.

Oddsee

In that case it begs the question why not create a permanent location? Surely it's profitable.

Odd-Kaleidoscope5081

In n Out is a family company from my understanding, and they care for quality more than expansion. They regulate their suppliers quite heavily and it’s probably impossible if you start offshore branches. Up until recently they didn’t want to expand outside of west coast.

JustTheBeerLight

Perfect answer. That being said the company has expanded a lot over the past ~10 years. Now they are in Texas and they are opening a regional hub in Tennessee.

Odd-Kaleidoscope5081

I think they are also in Idaho and Oregon? But yeah, I guess keeping the same standard in Asia would be more difficult.

Daswiftone22

I'd go to the supermarket and make my own cheeseburger before I wait that long. 2 hours max.

Background_Map_3460

Then don’t bother because you’ll have to wait a lot longer if you want 1 before they sell out

crinklypaper

I went and they sold out before opening. I'm not lining up at 8am for an okayish burger

LosCleepersFan

Its a tasty burger, their main thing is all the ingredients are super fresh. Thats about it tho, no secrets or anything special that they do different. Its better than okay, but its not the best burger you will ever eat.

Pavementaled

So… just like how most of the restaurants serve food in Japan, super fresh.

LosCleepersFan

You're correct! Its a different attraction on the Westcoast US, cause there is a lot of fast non-nutritional burger places, so it stands out more. One thing about In n out is they do have a specific taste and always consistent. But like you said thats something Japanese vendors are used to and produce themselves anyways. Also In n Out is known in the US for paying and treating their employees very well for the industry. So the company has some prestige and honor.

No_Detective_But_304

They have some of the best service too. So that’s part of it.

ashes-of-asakusa

No way in hell I’d wait in the insane line that forms every year. Kudos to everyone who can.

ShaleSelothan

Yea, In n Out is good but not good enough to wait for more than 30 minutes.

JpnDude

I've been to every one of their pop-ups in the past ten years or so. But I'll be skipping this week since I'll be in Los Angeles to visit my parents next month. In-n-Out is always my first stop after landing at LAX.

Daswiftone22

Same, it just feels weird to land in Cali and not go directly there.

roehnin

My first stop is always to buy an It’s-It and eat it at Union Square. Burger second.

roehnin

I’ll also skip for the same reason haha

TokyoLosAngeles

Last year me and my girlfriend got in line in Ebisu before it even opened, waited FOREVER, and it was sold out while we were still in line… 😑 Was literally, no exaggeration, the longest line I’ve ever seen in my life. The sheer number of city blocks the line was going was beyond absurd. Fuck that, I’ll just wait to eat In N Out next time I’m in California.

Haunting_Summer_1652

I've never had in n out. Is it better than burger king?

SheepeyDarkness

The burgers are MUCH better than burger king. Anyone who says so either has the greatest burger king in the world next door or lacks proper taste buds such as mine. Their fries are doo doo though. BK's are better.

Daswiftone22

Much much better.

HarryGateau

Honestly, it’s about the same. I had it in California for the first time a couple of years ago after hearing people rave about it. Compared to the hype, it was very disappointing. Just a so-so burger in all honesty.

mikhel

Someone in every thread always says this shit and fails to realize the amazing part of In N Out is the quality to price. Fresh vegetables, order made food, toasted buns, all for $4-5 a burger. You can legit buy two double doubles for less than the price of a meal at most other fast food places.

HarryGateau

Honestly speaking though, taste-wise it didn’t stand out at all for me compared to any other burger place at a similar price point.

mikhel

Fair enough. As someone who lived in Cali for college I can say the taste really grew on me over time, you really come to appreciate the quality of the veggies and the bun especially. I think there's a good reason it's beloved by natives but obviously I'm not gonna say you're wrong to have your own opinion.

HarryGateau

That’s why I tried it in the first place, because people I knew from California told me how good it was. I even tried it again in a different city just in case. But, unfortunately, for me I just couldn’t taste anything to set it apart from all the other fast food places.

roehnin

No, the hype is fandom nostalgia. I love’’em and always go when back home, but there are better burgers. Just not better burgers that give me the same feeling remembering the old days.

acouplefruits

More comparable to Shake Shack quality

LuckyJ26

Better than shale shack

m8remotion

Yes

roehnin

They only do these to maintain their trademark and gauge changes in interest.

shusususu

I'm Californian and I miss in n out like hell but no way I'm waiting in that long a line to get it

mrwafu

Good luck to anyone daring the line 🫡

davdavdave

I’d love to, but I can’t wait in a line for more than 30 minutes.

Daswiftone22

I'd like to say I wouldn't, but I'd have to wait that long at the local In n Out when I lived in California sometimes.

g8or8de

Is In-N-Out trying to gauge how popular they'll be in Japan with these pop up shops? Or they just teasing us in J-land?

MeguroBaller

Refreshing their right to own the IP/trademark

dokool

(For newcomers, they had issues w/ copycat restaurants in Shanghai and maybe a couple other Chinese cities a few years back, so now they hold these popups more-or-less annually in order to give them a stronger legal position wrt trademark in the APAC region)

Akeamegi

i wonder if it's for the same reason they did it in my home country (singapore). It had a very long queue and some started queueing as early as ~4am, crazy

LivingstonPerry

In n out i'd say is very popular in japan. It's randomly common to see japanese people wear in n out shirts lol.

Not_Live4This

They get the T shirts while studying abroad. Many of my Japanese friends always request I take them to In N out when they land and they all buy T shirts haha.

LivingstonPerry

On the in n out website, the shirts are about $18-20. I went to Osaka american thrift store and they were selling used In n out shirts for 6000Yen lol.

Not_Live4This

Damn 😂

Daswiftone22

Hopefully. They don't like to expand beyond the southwest US, but shake shack has a spot here and maybe they want to compete?

skoffs

I wish. It's just their annual trademark gig

LivingstonPerry

There is no way in n out will make an international store. Ingredients won't be the same.

Daswiftone22

One can dream. But they won't even go to NYC, no way they'll go all the way to Japan.

HalleysComet41

downvoting the post for my own gain sorry all

Daswiftone22

Fair. I hesitated to even post tbh.

shambolic_donkey

A drop in the ocean. The lines are immense, regardless. Always have, always will be.

the-good-son

for non-americans, what's so good about this particular burger chain?

roehnin

Nostalgia for when they lived near one in the US in their youth. They’re good, but there are better. Even BK beats them with some of their special topping burgers. I still get them every time I’m back in the US though.

bubushkinator

Nothing. Just hype

Shuffle_monk

Don't tell me you're a whataburger fan...

bubushkinator

Lol nah, I don't like any fast food

Shuffle_monk

So then why even say anything if you have a blanket "I don't like fastfood" policy... That's like me saying garth Brooke's latest album sucks...but I also don't like country so my opion is flawed.

bubushkinator

I like good burgers

WakiLover

Good quality fresh ingredients amazing taste at a great price They pay their workers better and you can feel it too

Daswiftone22

Not only this, but the fact that it's one of the few major fast food chains in the US that you can't get everywhere.

LuckyJ26

Anthony bourdain also said it’s the only fast food restaurant he likes

Prestigious-Box7511

In n Out is the most overrated thing in the history of the universe

Raecino

Damnit they have In & Out show up in Tokyo but not the East Coast of the U.S.?! They must have a grudge against the east coast for some reason.

No-District-3731

I’m from cali and it’s not worth the 4-6 hour wait to be told they are sold out

stockdizzle

Dumb ass PR

EDMGalaxy

Logistically how does it work with food, do they use beef from California?

JuanPop69

The people saying burger king is better are on some good copium.

Pherja

Yeah, don’t make it a week, or a month, make it ONE DAY. As with every business in Japan, put ALL THE BURDEN on the customer.

shambolic_donkey

This is what happens every single time. It's not for the customers, it's to keep hold of their trademark in Japan.

BrainDead_Moon

Enjoy the worst fries on earth 🤮

ext23

I'm morbidly curious to swing by and just check out the sheer immensity of total morons lining up for something as unimpressive as this. People queueing for stuff is something that I will never, ever, ever understand.
