It's just the way Maynard starts the song with some dialogue to really set the mood, and then the way his voice carries. It really pulls the song together. Pushit is amazing don't get me wrong, but Salival is somehow able to do it better. Only TOOL can cover their own song with something better.
Album and it’s still “in LOVE when you’re touching me and NOT when you’re shoving me down”. The word alive isn’t in the song anywhere.
Edit: ANYYYYYWHERE but yall will downvote again instead of having the energy to listen to your supposed favorite band another 30 seconds.
I’ve listened to that song probably thousands of times. Also..

Yeah, I can read too. Try listening now instead of being told what it is. I’ve got that a lot of places and none were Maynard and none made a sound.
Edit: I’ve made 20 people directly in front of me listen with no bias and NONE have heard alive. Give em 2 options and say circle one and no one picks alive. They can only be taught that.
I’ve listened to that before too. I’ve had it on a playlist for a long time. I just listened to it again, on headphones… again. Not sure what else to tell you, dude.
I like both, but I gravitate towards the salival version. It has a haunting quality that I love. It’s so beautiful.
I’m likely missing the live experience. That’s the real test.
Both. I love them both for different reasons. I can’t compare them on merit.
I guess it’s a matter of preference. Specifically musical or lyrical orientation.
Salival version 6 days out of 7. It's surreal.
I prefer the album version because I feel the more ethereal quality of the saliva version doesn't go well with the lyrics.

Ha! For some reason I replied to you instead of OP thread 😁
Hard to pick, I've seen both live...they're both epic.
I listened to the saliva version this morning while in the shower. I like both versions, just depends on the mood
While I think the original is fantastic, I think the Salival version really shows Maynard's range and capacity to emote.
Live every time.
Stop. It's the Salival version. Stop.
Salival hands down no competition. They are both great but Salival Pushit is objectively better when compared.
May I ask why? Area 51 insists.

Validated response. Builds on my lack of live Tool experience.
We’ve been…

I JUST listened to it. With headphones. I’m beginning to think you’re just trolling me.
I’m not but genuinely thank you for trying.
Listen good live last year. Clear AFFFF https://youtu.be/BMRb8RoeXQg?si=8pB_z19_60pbEEqn
You know he frequently changes lyrics to songs live right? There are tons of examples. That doesn’t change what’s on the album.
I listened to the album for 15 years before I saw a live show.
Listen to the vocals only. It soooooooooooooo fuckin easy to hear https://youtu.be/SuZO30WgGg8?si=0C0PMgcjyOz2CSzm

Stay believing what you were told I guess
