Batman would be the opposite of this trope.
It's not just Superman. I haven't seen/read a lot of this media myself, so I can't say how many others, but most of the ones I know-like Superman-would hit a female villain.
Inuyasha not only fights female villains, but the first real villain in the story is [Yura of the Hair](https://i.pinimg.com/1200x/8f/e0/e4/8fe0e406d702385e1d000d430e874cd3.jpg). If you look at the image linked above, she's got a hole in the middle of her chest beacuse he shoved his clawed hand straight though her chest. She even comments beacuse her breasts are there (he's just trying to kill her though).
As for Luffy, I have only seen some of One Piece but here he is[ punching a women all the way off a ship](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BTkCr2QQDS0) and here he is [punching a pretty female ally](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X8LQdDDpSmo) in a dramatic moment. Now, both women hit him first, and he's actually trying to help Vivi he just hits her for . . . dramatic effect? To make a point? (The other women is not his friend, and he is not trying to help her, he's just hitting her back much harder then she hit him beacuse he's much stronger.)
True I guess, although he was copying what he just saw Date do with his daughter. As he was coming to grips with the fact that he might have actually just become Haruka's adoptive father he tries to mimic the only real "Fathering" he witnessed up until this point, so unless there was abusive/malicious intent behind the slap I don't think i'd count that.
In Yakuza: Like a Dragon >!if you have female party members he will never attack them at any point in the fight against him!<. The creator of Yakuza has also refused the idea of Kiryu being added as a guest character to fighting games because it would mean he would have to be depicted fighting a woman, which supposedly goes against his morals.
>The creator of Yakuza has also refused the idea of Kiryu being added as a guest character to fighting games because it would mean he would have to be depicted fighting a woman, which supposedly goes against his morals.
I always found that to be Increadibly Dumb. Not only does it seem Somewhat Sexist by Assuming Women are incapable of Defending themself at all and that it's worse to Attack women then man. I also wonder does that mean that if a Women Tries to Kill him would he just let her? Would he refuse to defenf himself? I get the Intention but that always seemed so unnessesary and Stupid to me.
It's not really sexist to acknowledge the physical and biological differences between men and women. And realistically most women would not be able to defend themselves from an adult male assaulter. Even trained women would probably struggle a lot against male assaulters if they have a decent size/muscle advantage over them. Also it's not explicitly stated that he wouldnt ever hit a woman should he feel the need to defend himself, it's just his personal philosophy not to hurt women, which is pretty respectable imo.

This guy does, though
(Masayoshi Tanimura fighting Nair)
We got every other character up in here being at least a morally decent person, and then this guy, the fourth most powerful demon in the entire verse, who physically cannot bring himself to hurt a woman due to some hundreds year old traumatic experience. What a guy.
Roshi is a special case. He *would* hit a girl, since he is shown fighting them in the ToP. He just had to overcome his weakness of getting horny and distracted whenever he saw one, which was his little character arc. So now he would.
Remember when he was training Goku and Krillin and he explicitly forbids them from hitting women, even getting angry at Goku for knovking out Launch despite her literally shooting at them?
Also, I said Dragon Ball specifically, not Z or Super or GT or anything
Dragon Ball 90% of the time refers to the entire series unless you specifically specify by saying “original dragon ball” or something along those lines
Then you should’ve done it as a comment lol, replies to other people don’t appear in the posters notifications, and they likely aren’t going to read through all the new comments on a 6 hour old post
He also struck Atlas.
Headbutted Ulti. Had a whole little tussle with her.
And if you Google "Luffy punching female characters" there's a whole article on it and the first image on Image is him decking Vivi.
Luffy's hands are rated E for Everyone. He'll even punch animals.
Uta is honestly more like Luffy’s sister, and luffy never burst those he considers family if he can avoid it,
Sparring and squabbling are fine, but never outright fighting
Yeah, he did immediately try to kill Zoro in whiskey peak without a conversation first which is also against his character. But in the opposite direction.
hmm yes let me hyperspecify the character to this one moment where they don’t do the trope even if they’ve done so numerously, previously, and after the fact. that turns it into uhhh not a trope
Hey I kinda ran out of more popular characters so I visited tvtropes for characters. I haven't watched one piece red, and was just paraphrasing from the tvtropes site lol
So daft. He wouldn't hit her because they're friends.
That's like saying "Luffy doesn't hit men, specifically in whole cake island episode X, he refuses to hit Sani"

Uh, Luffy and Superman feel like weird picks. Both have hit women before (Luffy struck Vivi and fought Boa's sisters treating them like any other opponent) and Superman has several female villains including Livewire, Silver Sable, Granny Goodness etc.
Yet you didn't pick Kenichi from Kenichi: The Mightiest Disciple who might be one of the poster boy examples IMO.

Mobu and of course Reigen himself
Literal hated trope, but luffy hits women his first antagonist was Alvida, and he punched vivi
But the worst, imo is Kenchi from HSDK garbage character garbage trope.
Does Deku (MHA) actually ever hit a girl? I know he goes into battle against a few of them (Himiko Toga being the notable one), but as far as I remember, apart from a few grapples with his black whip, he never actually lays a hand on her, likely due to him being too flustered to actually put up a genuine fight.
It’s the same with Lady Nagant: he only breaks her sniper rifle, not her directly. Unless you consider the rifle as a direct part of her.
It's like old superman where he is never depicted hitting a woman and must go for restraining them, leading to old clark getting slapped around by female villains he could otherwise wipe the floor with
https://preview.redd.it/zgjcgn5z9x9d1.png?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d9b65bc2a7d21951001b2a099dca37afbeb0e2df
Rentarou (Hyakkano) This dude's entire bloodstream is 100% pure respect women juice.
Is it really respect when it's based off of chivalry and other outdated misogynistic steryotypes? It originates from thinking of women as lesser and thus not honorable to fight.
If it's not to hurt innocents that's cool. If it's specifically not to hurt women, especially even ones who are actively fighting you, it comes off as insulting and once again misogynistic
Sanji hitting a girl would mean spitting in the face of the man who raised him. Zeff said if he found out Sanji did this he’d cut off Sanji’s balls then slit his throat, if he did that it’d be like telling the man who raised him to go die.

He never tries to hit a girl, even if she’s trying to kill him. And it gets used by his enemies, as some organizations will send female fighters after him.
While it is a nice part of Sanji's character in the Manga, I'm so annoyed that they made it an actual mechanic in the fighting games like Burning Blood, because you're basically screwed if you're fighting an all woman team and Sanji is your last character.
What's more annoying is that they patched it so that he *can* deal damage to female opponents, but its a super weak move that barely scratches their health bars, which feels almost more insulting, since it's basically like using Struggle in Pokemon.
This is kinda like, stupid though. It only makes sense/works for stupid characters (at least in some aspect). I can’t speak for all of the characters in the OP but I don’t think characters like Inuyasha or Luffy need to have this character trait at all to be great characters. Is that even the case, though? They fight multiple women in Inuyasha for sure, in OP I can’t remember anyone prominent aside from Big Mom, but she’s a big example lol.
I do love me some kuwabara tho ngl. He defo works well as a character that has a kind of outdated sense of chivalry.
Luffy literally sent alvida flying in one of the first chapters of the manga. Superman has female villains that he has punched full in the face. Hell, the animated series has recurring female villians.

Since they wouldn’t put their hands on anybody, they would technically never hit a woman.
luffy would, luffy treats everyone equally, he has fought so many women and not once does he even think about them being a woman (unless im forgetting sometime) eg: all of amazon lily, bigmom, alvida
Knuckles would be the opposite of this trope

Batman had a "these hands are rated e for everyone" TWICE in the same show
Isn’t that lady in a relationship with a giant buff dude with a baby head?
Yes. I believe they were both original to the show too
Alfredo and Manfreda Face. They’re married
Also Touma Kamijou.
I think batman would go easy on a girl, and what I mean by easy I mean not breaking their kneecaps.
Superman has and would. He is an equal opportunity paragon, and I encourage you to remember the existence of Faora Zod and Granny Goodness

Wait didn't Kiryu slap Haruka in the face in the first game?

kinda funny how he can unintentionally hit women in LaD by launching the male party members into the female ones
In LAD:IW, if kiryu has the drunk status effect, there is a chance he will attack any party member. This includes Seonhee, Chitose and Saeko
>The creator of Yakuza has also refused the idea of Kiryu being added as a guest character to fighting games because it would mean he would have to be depicted fighting a woman, which supposedly goes against his morals. The one who confronted Catwoman, went "Wait, you're a woman?", and then had an existential crisis as she kicked the crap out of him.
Ah. I debated putting Batman on here from the refusal to fight Batwoman and completely forgot about Keaton lol
To be fair, he does get over it and has no problem punching her later in the movie.
Props on mentioning Oggar, an underrated villain. Though it’s not so much that he wouldn’t hit a girl, he *can’t* hit a girl.

He did hit Tex when she was disguising her voice, and after that he never got a chance again.
"What do we do sarge?" -Grif "I don't know! I've never hit a girl in my life!" -Sarge "I noticed! Try harder!" -Simmons

Robert Jebidiah Freeman will not and would not let you hit a woman in his house, or anywhere else probably

Sanji hitting a girl would mean spitting in the face of the man who raised him. Zeff said if he found out Sanji did this he’d cut off Sanji’s balls then slit his throat, if he did that it’d be like telling the man who raised him to go die. ![gif](giphy|T7unFDeItuu3OsGUcn)
Luffy hits anyone including girls and children
In a fighting game that has Sanji, anytime he fights a woman character, he can't do damage
Fun fact: in a lot of (possibly all) the fighting games Sanji is featured in, his attacks don't do damage to female characters.
yeah luffy is just not like that. maybe in red but further just not.
also its funny to put hol horse in
Billy Batson aka the Original Captain Marvel (Fawcett/DC Comics)
The thing that made the Lorax not hit that woman
Didn’t Shikimaru try to kill that flute girl in the Sasuke Retrieval arc?

And it gets used by his enemies, as some organizations will send female fighters after him.
While it is a nice part of Sanji's character in the Manga, I'm so annoyed that they made it an actual mechanic in the fighting games like Burning Blood, because you're basically screwed if you're fighting an all woman team and Sanji is your last character. What's more annoying is that they patched it so that he *can* deal damage to female opponents, but its a super weak move that barely scratches their health bars, which feels almost more insulting, since it's basically like using Struggle in Pokemon.
Why is that guys hand morphing through the gun
Luffy punched a girl
Batman: Oh honey 😔… I don’t have that problem 😆👊🏼

For the record, until shippuden Shikamaru exclusively hit women. He doesn’t mind hitting women, he’s literally misogynistic for most of the time

Why does 9 kinda look like anime jon arbuckle
Scott Pilgrim fighting Roxy
Man, Kuwabara was late on the list, I was worried for my man a bit when it's literally a part of his code!
Doesn't inuyasha literally slash and kill female characters??????

Luffy very characteristically did hit a girl while wearing that exact outfit in that movie. It was kind of a big part of the climax
why tf is luffy here? he’d box tf out of a woman

Luffy has hit a girl. He slugged Vivi
Luffy would 100% hit a girl without any problem and it wouldn’t be a light punch either
Why is luffy here blud hit vivi
How dare you put a paragon of virtue like Hol Horse on the same level as degenerates like Sanji and Roshi.
luffy would, luffy treats everyone equally, he has fought so many women and not once does he even think about them being a woman (unless im forgetting sometime) eg: all of amazon lily, bigmom, alvida

Luffy (in the One Piece Red movie only) It doesn't work like that.
