He is also the funniest imo. I feel like itās like he is beefing the entire time with everybody so he says shit like āand the shower the only time you get your dick wetā
Lifestyle of the Poor and Dangerous. And Illadelph Halflife by the Roots.
Also Black Moon is another group. Souls of Mischief. De La Soul. All similar vibes to like a Tribe Called Quest.
Had never heard of RYM but if liking all the Beatles' albums makes me uncool or an internet copy, I'm fine holding that. Idk when the anti-Beatles sentiment started but I think it's wack.
It's Rate Your Music. I wasn't talking about the Beatles albums. I love the Beatles actually. I was mostly talking about the hip-hop albums that have been included here.
Oh, that's fair. I guess I just get defensive because I see a lot of people chalk their catalogue down to good old days'ing, when it is some of my (22) favorite stuff ever.
Well you've already heard Daft Punk production on Yeezus (On Sight, I Am A God, Black Skinhead and Send It Up) so I would say start with Homework and then go in chronological order. Their discography is quite varied. Once you've listened to their first three albums. Alive 2007 is a must listen. Especially if you didn't like Human After All and especially if you did.
I reckon for Daft Punk, your favourite will be Random Access Memories. It's very grand like MBDTF and TPAB. It's a "album album" based from funk, disco, progressive pop, electronic, and a bit of progressive rock.
spiderland - slint

I love MF DOOM but Iām mainly a metalhead, so Iāll help you get into metal. Probably start with either black sabbathās paranoid or master of reality, iron maidenās number of the beast, system of a downās toxicity, any of Metallicaās first 5 albums or slipknots self titled album. My favourite metal albums are probably master of reality, symbolic by the band death, toolās Ćnima and megadethās rust in peace.
Props on the limited run international press release version of Igor. Very obscure.
Also, you have Black On Both Sides here. You're set for life. (Listen to Black Star)
Wš„š„š„I only have 8 of these on vinyl
Iām curious though, which ones do you not have? (I know Yeezus didnāt get a vinyl release cuz Iām been looking for months)
Wolf and the 50 Cent.
A lot of hip-hop albums you can only get bootlegs of for some reason. [You can buy Yeezus on Rollin Recs right now](https://rollinrecs.com/products/kanye-west-yeezus)
Listen to: hypochondriac - brakence, red house painters I - red house painters, Iāll try living like this - deaths dynamic shroud, tidal memory exo - iglooghost, eversince - bladee, and I have quite a bit more if you want some more recsĀ
I see you already have Tribe on there, but I personally love The Low End Theory slightly better than Midnight Marauders.
Run The Jewels
Wu-Tang Clan
De La Soul
Black Star
Beastie Boys
J Dilla
(This is only hip-hop suggestions btw)
Meh...I'm not a big fan of The Money Store. NLDW is my personal favorite with Exmilitary being a close second, then Government Plates. There's some songs on The Money Store I really like, but as a full album it just doesn't hit for me.
I still need to listen to their other albums, because outside of money store, Iāve really only heard takyon on ex military, and Iāll check them outā¼ļøā¤ļøā¤ļøš„š„š„šÆ money store is just really experimental while being catchy and thatās like my favorite thing an album can do
The production on NLDW is way more raw and bass-fueled for the most part. I guess it depends on what you mean by catchy, but those songs probably aren't it. It's a lot more screaming and just overall heaviness imo. You'd probably really like Government Plates though, it's a lot more electronic driven and most of the songs are mostly hooks without a lot of lyrics lol
Taste - On The Boards/Live at the Isle of Wright
Fucking amazing irish rock band who were sadly overshadowed in the British invasion but have some manic jazz, much rawer and softly-laid folk none of the other british guys really touched with such vulnerability, beautiful songs and insane improv. Also the first band of my fav guitarist ever, Rory Gallagher.
Bad Brains - Bad Brains
One of my favorite albums of all time. Hard-core punk on full blast and then when you're about to shit yourself you're reeled back with reggae grooves. A powerful statement of purpose.
King Crimson - Red (Any of their shit honestly)
Seems like you love prog, there's something horrifying about this album, there's nothing like it. Larks Tounges in Aspic is more abstract and Groovy, and Court of The Crimson King is beautifully chaotic and erethreal.
Kendrick Lamar - To Pimp a Butterfly
Wasnt a big Kendrick fan but listened to this for the first time a few months back. And holy shit is it something else, this is the kinds music that really grabs you and makes sure you leave a changed person.
Prince - Purple Rain
Just anything this man did really. The greatest guitarist of all time, and one of the most creative bold artists of all time imo.
Jimi Hendrix - Band of Gypsies/Songs for Groovy Children
Imo I hate hearing about Woodstock era music but this is THE Hendrix album, listen to the quadruple album with the full show. This really shows who Hendrix is, playing with a band that really pushes him forward, further reflected in some of his greatest yet underappreciated songs. Just listen to Who Knows and Machine Gun it's muah.
The Velvet Underground - White Light/White Heat
I strongly recommend listening to all 4 of their albums to fully understand the band, listen to their debut before checking this one out. All of their albums are so strongly opposed to eachother yet wrap together making a beautiful story. Just recommending this as my favorite.
Time - Electric Light Orchestra
Currents - Tame Impala
After Hours / Dawn FM - The Weeknd
Random Access Memories - Daft Punk
Hyperdrama - Justice
When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? - Billie Eilish
You look like you need some Prince in your Life, start with the Purple Rain, Around The World In A Day, and Christopher Tracy's Parade
If you like that, Funkadelic is a must, check out Maggot Brain and Standing On The Verge Of Getting It On
And in another direction, for the classic rock fan in you, I'd recommend Supertramp, Breakfast in America and Crime Of The Century are some of the greatest albums of all time
Early NIN, specifically his debut Pretty Hate Machine, heavily pop based structure but built around angsty techno/industrial, for comparison a combination of The Wall and Yeezus in a sense. You seem to be going down the path of many so Court of the Crimson King will most definitely appear to you somewhere along the line, itās one of those albums that changed music forever (the dark side of the mood of dark side of the moon) like pet sounds to sgt peppers, really revolutionary shit. Canāt say much more as iāve gone down the metal rabbit hole and youāre still diversifying, so find your sound man, chase that ear candy
You should check out Goblin by Tyler the Creator, Exmilitary by Death Grips, Year of the Snitch by Death Grips, Bottomless Pit by Death Grips, and No Love Deep Web by Death Grips. You'll probably like them.
Since youāre a fan of Pink Floyd, I highly recommend you give The Alan Parsons Project a listen. I say start with I Robot and Eye in the Sky and see how you like it before moving on to their other albums, but the sound is so iconic throughout their discography. Their work seems to be overlooked, despite Alan engineering both Abbey Road and Dark Side.
you gotta get some indie in there man, you already listen to the beatles which is goated. Listen to The Strokes, their debut album, Is This It is literally no skips, one of the best albums oat imo. Work your way from there, their entire discography is great, if you like their stuff maybe check out Interpol, Yea Yea Yea's and The Killers. Sick taste tho, wish I was into that ammount of good music at 13 lol
Iād start step away from media and other peoples designated ideas of what makes a good album / the most popular albums and find what sound/s you appreciate the most
Run The Jewels 2
Das Racist - Shut Up Dude/Sit Down Man
Heems - Nehru Jackets
Ice Cube - The Predator
Guns N' Roses - Appetite For Destruction
Nirvana - Nevermind
Pearl Jam - Ten
Faith No More - Angel Dust
Air - Moon Safari
Stevie Wonder - Songs In The Key Of Life
Prince - Purple Rain
X-Ray Spex - Germ Free Adolescents
I love your taste Cherry bomb, yeezus, atrocity exhibition, damn, and the money store. What to listen to, Iād say scaring the hoes or something childish Gambino maybe
Have you heard Dannyās newest album yet? IMO itās even better than Atrocity Exhibition. Thereās also a new album from Joey Valence & Brae that he features on and the whole record is pretty good
Bro your literally me except Iām two years older than you
I never know what to say when people ask for recs I usually just say like The Weeknd or maybe Childish Gambino
Oh definitely listen to those two, Iām a bigger Weeknd fan overall and think you should also check out some of his other stuff if you end up liking HOB (Trilogy, Kissland, After Hours, Dawn FM)
Honestly more than anything listen to some women lmao. Not even trying to be a āwokeā guy or whatever and these are all amazing records you have here, but listening to some women will be great for both just musical diversity and also maybe open your eyes to some different kinds of life experiences.
Just off the top of my head some records you might like:
Sleater Kinney: The Woods
Lauryn Hill: Miseducationā¦.
Cocteau Twins: Heaven or Las Vegas
Kero Kero Bonito: honestly the whole discography
100 Gecs: 1000 Gecs
Bjork: honestly yeah whole discography here too.
None of these are super niche or underground, chances are you have heard some of these if not all, but anything you havenāt heard I would definitely give a chance.
Iāve listened to Miseducation, and it just wasnāt for me as I found it really good, but nothing interesting enough to revisitš„š„š ššā¼ļøā¼ļøā¼ļøā¼ļø
pretty good repertoire young one š. be sure to check out Deftones, Faith No More, Atmosphere, Immortal Technique, Hieroglyphics, Tom Waits, Hozier, Wu Tang Clan (obviously) ā¦you get the idea. youāre already well versed in music already š
Mac Miller 100%. Hundreds of amazing songs with countless different vibes, and seeing that we share liked artists like Kendrick, Tyler, Ye, MF DOOM, and Outkast, I think youād like Mac
Gotta give you props. This is WAY better than my 13yo music. Itās been 2 years since and iām so glad I changed.
If you like death grips you might like an artist called JPEGMAFIA. Very hard and āloudā hiphop. His music ranges from rap, r&b, trap, cloud rap.
I think you should listen to LP! (OFFLINE!). It is Cloud Rap. Very laid back chill songs but also with some hard beat and like head hopping hip hop. Really a good listen.
I donāt believe you for a second that youāve listened to 90% of these albums. Just listen to whatever you actually like at this age dude
https://www.reddit.com/r/rap/s/bOH5GnsZDh
nah I actually jam to all this, even if isnāt technically for me, I just the older east coast production on the 90s records and stuff from tribeš And I just grew up with Pink Floyd cause my dad plays it all the time, and I grew to love the sound of themā¼ļø and all the lyricism from all those records just go hard, especially Nasā, Kendrickās, mos defās, and tribes flows
Mate I was listening to most of these albums at his age, if ur into music from a young age, heāll probably understand how good they are. Itās the same with movies and TV shows, just because heās young and has good taste doesnāt mean heās just saying he likes them for attention
I listened to some of this stuff too, but mostly because I was trying to impress somebody. I didnāt understand or actually like death grips until I was probably 21
Itās like saying your favorite movie at 13 is the seventh seal or Casablanca or something. Or your favorite novelist is Dostoyevsky or Kierkegaard. What are you connecting to at 13 there. Like dude, itās ok to say you like the avengers.
Yeah I was just editing my comment when you replied. I believe that he listens to a lot of these but thereās a couple thrown in there that imo require so much context to understand why theyāre great. Kanye I get at 13. Tyler too.
I understand that, 90% in the original comment was crazy, I can maybe understand like 3 of these or smth but Iāve never listened to Death Grips so I canāt really speak on that
Mostly the MF DOOM, the midnight marauders, lllmatic, Mos Def, Elton John (a 13 year old listening and understanding i think Iām gonna kill myself?) the money store, and animals/the wall(extremely overrated albums imo wish syd didnāt go nuts).
Iād also say TPAB has a lot of contextual historical race & oppression based poetry in there that I canāt imagine a 13 year old understanding or truly loving unless they got on rateyourmusic or wherever. Thereās only a few truly catchy kinda pop songs in there.
But, whatever. I kinda want to delete my comments bc I donāt know why I decided to shit on an actual child. Loser behavior on my part.
I understand what you mean but I listened to DOOM, midnight marauders, Illmatic when I was young, I didnāt think about the brilliant lyricism, but the beats are still incredible and thereās great rapping

Lifestyle of the Poor and Dangerous. And Illadelph Halflife by the Roots. Also Black Moon is another group. Souls of Mischief. De La Soul. All similar vibes to like a Tribe Called Quest.
My advice: Explore music for yourself. Donāt rely so much on recommendations from the Internet.

No...seems like his music taste is a carbon copy of RYM or some other corner of the Internet

my music was looking quite similar at 13, I like your picks, definitely try out smino (all of his albums are great imo)
Mac Miller 100%. Hundreds of amazing songs with countless different vibes, and seeing that we share liked artists like Kendrick, Tyler, Ye, MF DOOM, and Outkast, I think youād like Mac
I recommend that you never listen to a music review again. And Little Simz.
nujabes!
Piper at the Gates of Dawn - Pink Floyd. You can thank me later
I see Cherry Bomb, automatically good taste
You should listen to Tomb Of the Mutilated. (That's a joke I would not recomend listning to it if you hardly listen to metal at all.

I donāt believe you for a second that youāve listened to 90% of these albums. Just listen to whatever you actually like at this age dude https://www.reddit.com/r/rap/s/bOH5GnsZDh
nah I actually jam to all this, even if isnāt technically for me, I just the older east coast production on the 90s records and stuff from tribeš And I just grew up with Pink Floyd cause my dad plays it all the time, and I grew to love the sound of themā¼ļø and all the lyricism from all those records just go hard, especially Nasā, Kendrickās, mos defās, and tribes flows
I didnāt understand or actually like death grips until I was probably 21 Itās like saying your favorite movie at 13 is the seventh seal or Casablanca or something. Or your favorite novelist is Dostoyevsky or Kierkegaard. What are you connecting to at 13 there. Like dude, itās ok to say you like the avengers.
Ok, I understand like Death Grips or smth, but almost all of these albums arenāt acquired taste and loved by almost everyone š
Yeah I was just editing my comment when you replied. I believe that he listens to a lot of these but thereās a couple thrown in there that imo require so much context to understand why theyāre great. Kanye I get at 13. Tyler too.
I understand that, 90% in the original comment was crazy, I can maybe understand like 3 of these or smth but Iāve never listened to Death Grips so I canāt really speak on that
Fair enough. Iād say thereās like 11 albums here that seem off to me
What ones? I see Death Grips and Danny but tbh I canāt say Danny since I was listening to him at his age
Damn you need to listen to good music.
what does that even mean dude
Like actual good music
