I don’t see him coming back as a starter, but if we can get his speed up a bit and avoid any blister issues I’d love to see him in the Jays bullpen later this year
Don't see him coming up, we desperately need starters in AAA as we were running multiple bullpen days in Buffalo. Most likely he's just here to eat innings down there.
I ***love*** the idea of him getting to a place that he could be a setup man, but I'll settle for him being a Swanson-esque innings eater by August/September. God knows Swanson isn't capable of it this season
Imagine our 5th-starter woes being fixed by *Aaron fucking Sanchez* off the top rope out of nowhere.
In all likelihood, tho, if he's capable of pitching well, he'd likely be sent to the bullpen to help that disaster.
IIRC his issues while with us were mostly injury related.
Assuming his injury woes are mostly behind him for now, he just hasn't pitched well enough to earn a spot anywhere else.
I will absolutely hang on to the ridiculous fantasy that maybe things just didn't click for him with other coaches, and that some familiar faces (and Pete Walker on speed dial) can get some kind of valuable pitching out of Sanchez again.
Yeah at the time his fastball varied from 95-100mph and he showed that he *could* have great control, he just got a nagging blister issue on one of his pitching fingers which never seemed to go away. Bummer because he was really promising, that 2015/2016 team was so fun to watch.
I'm under no assumption that he's going to break out and become an MLB starter again (though I could see him coming up to start a couple due to injuries), but I'm hoping he can can be retooled into a decent bullpen pitcher.
Signed and starting already? His return is off to a blistering pace!

I agree our bull pen needs some work. Maybe he could give 1-2 innings, maybe a setup man for Romano
