You're going to have to be a little more specific about what you're looking for. What style? Basket? Flat utility? Basic crossbars? Are you going to haul kayaks? Rooftop tent? Granny in her rocking chair?
I have the Hooke Road roof rack from Amazon. It looks amazing, but my god was it a pain in the ass to install. The feet are made with the rack itself so there’s no easy way to get things lined up. Also getting silicon in the back mounting holes is a pain because a bar goes across it.
I would give yourself a full day when you do it so you do it right the first time. I’ve not had any rain since installing mine so I’m still worried I didn’t use enough silicone.
I have had mine in for 2 years in north Ontario, Canada winters with down pours, 4 feet of snow you name it. It’s a good rack & I didn’t use THAT much silicone. The only issue with mine right now is one of the washers is rusting out & I’ll swap that soon but that’s it.
As well as I mentioned below, I’d strongly recommend going to get a roll of that rubber door edge guard, and cutting it to size for your most front piece, as the proximity it sits to the paint is a little too close lol. For $10 it’s a no brainer.
I drove in Texas for 10 years with no front plate. Now live in Utah and front plates are on about 25% of cars here (also required by law here, salesmen even said don’t put it on when I bought the truck). Honestly I’d rather pay the $200 every few years or something than put a front plate on the truck.
Also in both Texas and Utah the law is kind of confusing on the matter - as to whether or not it’s actually punishable. Extremely unlikely you ever get pulled over for no front plate but maybe they tack it on if you’re going 30 over or something. Good thing the Taco makes it very easy to obey speed limits!
I installed the factory oem rack and returned it quickly as it’s tolerances were too loose, causing a bad rattle, but moreover, when the rails are in position to haul anything it is absurdly loud. Practically silent in the stowed position however
I have Hooke Road from Amazon. Its heavy duty & heavier than a Prinsu because it’s coated steel, but it’s pretty bullet proof, can take a beating but a prick to install, but ok once I called a buddy. However it’s like 1/3 the cost of a prinsu, and it looks brand new after 2 awful Canadian winters full of snow, salt, ice you name it.
My recommendation if you get it, buy “car door edge protector” that rubber stuff that comes in a roll, because the front piece sits awfully close to your paint and I feel better with that on and it’s like $10 for a roll.
The OEM one is shit IMO & if you’re wanting the look of the platform slotted rack but don’t want to drop money on prinsu (obviously superior) then Hooke Road is great & you can burn your Amazon gift cards.
Thanks for this those Amazon gift cards are piling up and I definitely don’t have the money for the prinsu I have been looking at the hooke but saw reviews of the install process and it was kind of detouring me did you have any trouble with the antenna at all some people mentioned they had to cut the rack to install?
No not at all. There’s two heights you can install the rack at, and even on the lowest (makes it look the sleekest) the antenna still has like 1/2” clearance. It looks good, and like wasn’t THAT hard. With a buddy it was just time and someone holding the cross bars and he did the bolts. By myself it would have sucked.
I believe people cutting either had early 3rd gen (I think they did do something different with the antenna) or they have an access cab. 100% no cutting or modifying for me, although I did strip out one of my actual mounting holes in my roof because I’m a moron, but it lines up perfect with factory holes. Then just resilicone them after.
It came with lights but I didn’t like them on the rack, so I bought ditch light brackets for my hood & out two of them there instead and I love them.
https://imgur.com/a/S2W3Ig0 here’s a pic of it installed. Obviously I installed the ditch lights later after this pic but it’s the only side profile pic I had of my truck right now lol.
Honestly torn on getting one just need it for an upcoming move across the country the more I can fit on the truck the better and the 5ft bed doesn’t help love the look without it
For standard crossbars, go with the RhijoRack track mount (basically, tracks replace your ditch moulding, it's nice and clean); for a platform, go with FrontRunner SlimSport.

Sorry I don’t have any advice on a rack, but what size tires are you running? Stock suspension?

Westcott rack. It’s similar to prinsu but it has a built in bottle opener. Imagine all the possibilities
Sorry officer was testing the roof rack bottle opener
X2 on Westcott designs. Great people and great products. From sliders to lifts to racks and ladders they put out some nice stuff!
You're going to have to be a little more specific about what you're looking for. What style? Basket? Flat utility? Basic crossbars? Are you going to haul kayaks? Rooftop tent? Granny in her rocking chair?
Love the look of the flat hauling just fishing poles mainly and a tub of camping gear occasionally

How is the wind noise on that one? That’s the one I was eyeing up for the price and it’s on Amazon.
I didn’t hear any until I put a lightbar on

Im gonna look deeper into this one appreciate the help might reach out with some more questions
Looks good. Those 265/75-16?
On the money
Hm. Texas sticker but no front plate.
Austin is a free for all when it comes to policing anyway
What window things are those?
The window things are weather tech visors they sit in the window groves others use glue I’m pretty sure

Off topic but, damn what a sexy vehicle!
Thank you! Not much done yet but have some plans for her
I’m a big fan of the classic OEM roof racks. I think they look the best on the taco. Not sure what to recommend for a burrito unfortunately.

It looks great love the look one more question does it interfere with the sunroof at all? That was my other concern
I don’t have a sunroof so that I can’t comment on. It would definitely take the view/airflow away I’d imagine but I don’t know if it physically would.
Prinsu
Yakima skyline using fixed mount points and HD bars. Strong as hell and hardly adds any extra weight. Also, easily removable for your daily drive.
Etrailer.com ladder rack- much more useable imo and very affordable
Love my UpTop Overland. Great racks! Best customer service I’ve ever had.
I Love my ARB Baserack! It was a little hard to find when I got mine, but I haven’t been disappointed by it.
I've had great luck with my CaliRaised Premium
I like Victory products. Easy installs, no interest financing I believe... May not be top of the line? Been work just fine for me.
Don’t get one unless you’re gonna always have stuff up there. Just added weight and cost otherwise
[удалено]
Been on my radar bc of how budget friendly it is
[удалено]
Do you have a sunroof by chance?
[удалено]
Does it interfere with how it opens or closes at all? Been looking everywhere about this can’t find anything

Not getting one is my rec lol
Honestly torn on getting one just need it for an upcoming move across the country the more I can fit on the truck the better and the 5ft bed doesn’t help love the look without it
Just rent a lil trailer?
That’s the plan the smaller the trailer the better so figured I can as much as I can on the truck to get a smaller trailer
I really like my Front Runner rack.
For standard crossbars, go with the RhijoRack track mount (basically, tracks replace your ditch moulding, it's nice and clean); for a platform, go with FrontRunner SlimSport.
Use the damn bed! Should’ve got a minivan if you need racks.
