The OEM Radiators have issues with leaking from between the trans cooler and the radiator. I recently picked up one of these and am perfectly happy with it for the price. [https://www.ebay.com/itm/204316861153](https://www.ebay.com/itm/204316861153) Koyorad has treated me well in the past for other vehicles. TRQ are supposed to be decent as well but that is all hear-say.

I've seen these radiator under several brands while browsing amazon. Many reviews state you have to do some "minor" cuts on the fan shroud to accomodate the hoses. Others say they had to snip off the metallic hangers on the side and/or extend the holes for proper bolt alignment. Was your a perfect fit?

>Was your a perfect fit? Not at all. It is never expected with a full aluminum cheap as fuck option. I use them all the time. If you're competent it's no problem. That $500 Mishimoto is the exact same thing with a spray painted logo on it.

I see. I know I can make it fit, but I am just feeling lazy put the extra elbow grease. I will probably go for a OEM like radiator, hoping for the best. Thanks a lot for all your feedback.

Is buying from RockAuto an option? I bought my Denso radiator from them, they had the best price, and I hear Denso is the best radiator for these trucks.

patico_cr

This is funny, I was considering this option on found 2 people saying their Denso radiators lasted for about 6 months, and then had to replace them again. Looks like the radiator roulette is spinning permanently,

kentuckyMarksman

Interesting. I thought Denso supplied Toyota for the OEM ones. I recently put a Denso on my truck, it wasn't a 1 to 1 match with the original, was close though. Instead of using the new side panels that came with the Denso I reused my old ones.

The issue is that OEM radiators for the first gen trucks have issues. So in this case OEM isn't the right choice.

kentuckyMarksman

Understood. I thought that Denso had updated the design.

As others hsve said its a random lottery. I bought mine from RockAuto and it'd been good for 4 years now.

OP I suggest doing water pump, serpentine belt, pulley and tensioner at the same time if you are due for it. Also a great time to check fan clutch as well. After doing the above work mine shit the bed a few weeks after. If radiator is worn out it's a good time to replace what I suggested.

patico_cr

All the work you suggest was done less than 20k miles ago. This time I will be replacing the radiator and the 2 large hoses.
