lol. I was aiming for a "this isn't about red and blue" vibes, but clearly it didn't work out.
EDIT: also hijacking the top comment to say that I made a mistake and would live in Illinois.
Not that Chicago isn’t Illinois, but if it ain’t Chicago you’re pretty much in Indiana or Iowa. This is like the 6th one I’ve seen give the whole state a nod when it’s the exact same as the states on either side of it.
You get used to it. I left work on Monday in 107 degrees, blistering hot and thought I was gonna die. 5 min later at 104 though? Chilly, might throw on a hoodie
Yeah. I spent 3+ years there. I love it, but I hate the 4 months where it's almost impossible to go outside...you almost feel like nature is telling you we aren't supposed to live there.
Yeah, I had like 5 upvotes 20 minutes ago, I'm assuming a few people saw the map who disagree with my position, as every comment I've made has been downvoted. Although if you disagree with a position and not a fact, I'm not sure why you'd downvote!
If that’s the case your other 2 criteria are mysteries. NM is as liberal as any and isn’t hot except the lower half of the state. Usually when people think NM is hot they’ve never been there.
I worked in Roswell for nearly a full year… yeaaah.
North is pretty but still was hot in the summer just visited Albuquerque stayed a couple nights. Beautiful. Wished I’d made it to Santa Fe
Michigan is phenomenal for that, just avoid Ottawa county and you're gonna be fine. The red areas here have a very libertarian streak to them, other than the dutch reformed
Forcing someone who is pregnant to give birth when we have medical procedures to terminate the pregnancy is forcing someone to have a baby. Your local Walmart requiring employees to be vaccinated is not forcing u to get an injection, since u aren't required to work at the Walmart. Your comparison does not make sense.
well clearly you've never had a friend or spouse with, say, for example, an ectopic pregnancy. I hope you don't! I wouldn't want to live in a state that made that health decision any more difficult than it already is.
Man, if that was what happening you would have a point, but you have to redefine both the word “murder” and “babies” to have your statement reflect reality.
There is, and fetuses aren’t babies and murder doesn’t remotely fit for something that happens far more often than not naturally before the end of the first trimester.
Progressive policies, relative proximity to major cities, access to beautiful natural landscapes, and minimising extreme heat??
Edit: this is about the exact same list I’d give as well. Tho I’d exclude New Jersey too lol
Ding ding ding! Though I'd say "not right wing policies" bc I don't agree with all progressive policies, and also "resilience to climate change" rather than heat! But yes!!
(Ps northern NJ just near NYC is pretty nice!)
Well Arizona is disqualified due to the heat. Amazing geology though if you're into that. Our politics are weird AF, generally we lean moderate to progressive but expect curve balls.
Good question. Not right wing is only one of the criteria. Also Wisconsin is a heavily gerrymandered state, which has voted blue 8/9 elections, with a democratic governor, and a democratic supreme court who just un-gerrymandered much of the map. The population is about 50/50.
It's probably just the anti-chicago and anti-choice trolls who are lurking in the comments because they're salty about your stated political and policy requirements. Pay them no heed, friend.
Nashville is a bad example for this. The state just redistricted away their moderately blue congressional seat. But also, blue cities in red states get treated very poorly by state government- stripped of local autonomy, banned from implementing locally popular initiatives (such as funding public transportation, plastic bag bans, etc), and honestly just getting set up to fail.
Salt Lake is one of the only examples I can think of that meets what you are describing. St. Louis has an extremely antagonistic relationship with state government.
No I wouldn't live in North Carolina again. I did post a comment saying I made a mistake, and would live in Illinois though. Probably got buried by downvotes!
Liberal politics and snow in the winters? (Of course depending where in California.) Rhode Island kinda ruins that though, and MD/DE to a lesser extent
The EPA did a report about 5 years ago that indicated the most climate resilient states, and I listed almost all of them, with the exception of Alaska.
I love Kentucky - Louisville rocks! - but climate resiliency, whoever takes the Governor's mansion next, and my third criteria (which hasn't been guessed yet) are roadblocks.
Genuinely curious about the abortion thing, could a person theoretically live in a state with lower cost of living (doesn’t have abortion rights) bordering a state that has abortion rights and just drive over to the other state for an abortion or does it not work like that?
Fun fact: Washington has no state income tax and Iowa has the 7th highest state income tax. Oregon has no sales tax, and Tennessee, Arkansas, and Louisiana are the states with the three highest sales taxes in the country.
Also, despite what Fox News and right wing media tells you, righteous and insufferable can pretty much describe most of the south. I should know, I live in Texas.
Also personal freedoms wise, WA state is pretty high up there. Takes a lot of humility to let people do what they want, not insufferable behavior to do so imo. Much higher than many of the states he listed at least and we usually don’t have good food lol
This reverse color scheme is nuts
lol. I was aiming for a "this isn't about red and blue" vibes, but clearly it didn't work out. EDIT: also hijacking the top comment to say that I made a mistake and would live in Illinois.
I was coming in here to defend IL but I I see you made the correct choice. And by IL, I only mean the upper right corner.
Not that Chicago isn’t Illinois, but if it ain’t Chicago you’re pretty much in Indiana or Iowa. This is like the 6th one I’ve seen give the whole state a nod when it’s the exact same as the states on either side of it.
I would say there are a few pockets of “this is okay” in the northern 3/4ths of the state, but everything else is an absolute hell no.
It’s odd that “good” states are red and “bad” are green. Kind of backwards for my brain
My guy likes trees
Bro likes cold 😭
this fool likes hot
r/trees
I'd say liberal politics and cool weather but Hawaii and Rhode Island throw that off. Still gonna keep liberal/moderate politics as one of them
Yeah, one of them is definitely living in a state where the chances of bodily autonomy being regulated are low.
Dang, Nevada solidly has that. Missing one or both of the other two then
Climate is why I wouldn't move to Nevada. It's like 115 in the summer.
Depends where you are at, up here in the mountains it absolutely is not.
bUt iTs A dRy HeAt!!!
“It’s a dry heat” - desert people “Bitch…it’s still 115” - me.
You got down voted but as someone who lives in Texas after living in Virginia… yeah, things like that genuinely matter.
Yeah, I had like 5 upvotes 20 minutes ago, I'm assuming a few people saw the map who disagree with my position, as every comment I've made has been downvoted. Although if you disagree with a position and not a fact, I'm not sure why you'd downvote!

I worked in Roswell for nearly a full year… yeaaah. North is pretty but still was hot in the summer just visited Albuquerque stayed a couple nights. Beautiful. Wished I’d made it to Santa Fe
Well, NM is definitely eliminated by my third criteria, which no one has gotten yet.
Michigan is phenomenal for that, just avoid Ottawa county and you're gonna be fine. The red areas here have a very libertarian streak to them, other than the dutch reformed
Hahahaha Take this injection or else
No one forced u to ever take an injection
No one ever forced you to have a baby
Forcing someone who is pregnant to give birth when we have medical procedures to terminate the pregnancy is forcing someone to have a baby. Your local Walmart requiring employees to be vaccinated is not forcing u to get an injection, since u aren't required to work at the Walmart. Your comparison does not make sense.
you mean you love places where they murder babies?
well clearly you've never had a friend or spouse with, say, for example, an ectopic pregnancy. I hope you don't! I wouldn't want to live in a state that made that health decision any more difficult than it already is.
I should amend to say places that are ok to murder baby for no reason.
Man, if that was what happening you would have a point, but you have to redefine both the word “murder” and “babies” to have your statement reflect reality.
To redefine means there is an agreed upon definition. Even in the legal system it’s dicey. Why is the murder of a pregnant woman a double homicide?
There is, and fetuses aren’t babies and murder doesn’t remotely fit for something that happens far more often than not naturally before the end of the first trimester.
Babies are actually born. Pregnant women say "I'm having a baby" not "I had a baby"
Is the life and well being of the mother “no reason?”
Central NY is even better
Give chicago a chance before you write off all of illinois.
Can you explain MD? They’re progressive, have cities, and have all four seasons
Hot and humid. Climate change will flood major ports.
Hm...so what's wrong with Maryland then?
Well Arizona is disqualified due to the heat. Amazing geology though if you're into that. Our politics are weird AF, generally we lean moderate to progressive but expect curve balls.
Flagstaff?
> resilience to climate change Then I’m not sure why you picked Colorado.
Personally I’d say NH meets all 3 criteria. Is it the Republican governor that makes you rule it out?
So why no to Illinois? There's beautiful nature here too!
You get all these in LV metro minus the heat part
High point, NJ is dope. If you like the outdoors, hike up to it via the AT.
I’ve been there! It’s cool, but on the whole NJ’s outdoors can’t touch most of the other states on this list I’m afraid
Mods are banning these types of posts. I started a new subreddit called r/travelratings if you would like to join and post to help get it going!
Legal MJ
Wisconsin......
PA breaks this theory.
CT over RI is a wild take
Well, it has to do with my third criteria, which no one has guessed.
Pizza broski
World class food
Hell no it isn’t. Wtf is in Rhode Island
never been to RI I see
Spent 22 years in CT and summers in RI lol. I’ve spent plenty of time there
wrong parts of RI I guess
Been to Newport, narragansett, providince, Swansea, Warwick, Coventry, westerly, and Bristol lol. Maybe I’m missing something
What do you do for a living that you can move to 7 different states?
Nevada was for work, NC, NJ, and Massachusetts for school.
You like freezing, but would make exceptions for Hawaii
[удалено]
Yes, but less vote democrat and more not vote right wing.
[удалено]
Good question. Not right wing is only one of the criteria. Also Wisconsin is a heavily gerrymandered state, which has voted blue 8/9 elections, with a democratic governor, and a democratic supreme court who just un-gerrymandered much of the map. The population is about 50/50.
Illinois is a blue stronghold in the Midwest
Yeah, I made a comment that I made a mistake and would live in Illinois, but it got downvoted.
It's probably just the anti-chicago and anti-choice trolls who are lurking in the comments because they're salty about your stated political and policy requirements. Pay them no heed, friend.
[удалено]
Well now you're getting into my third criteria!
[удалено]
SLC is gerrymandered so badly the district lines carve it into quadrants.
Salt Lake is one of the only examples I can think of that meets what you are describing. St. Louis has an extremely antagonistic relationship with state government.
[удалено]
No I wouldn't live in North Carolina again. I did post a comment saying I made a mistake, and would live in Illinois though. Probably got buried by downvotes!
Why? Too hot?
Reasoning for Vermont vs New Hampshire?
Rhymes with Diss Bununu
Chris does seem to one of the few rational people on that side of the aisle.
Used to be. https://abcnews.go.com/amp/Politics/chris-sununu-stands-jan-6-criticism-trump-now/story?id=109205941
Bodily autonomy
Liberal politics, close proximity to water, moderate-ish weather?
What did North Carolina do to you
Fayettenam poisoning probably.
To the rest of the state we reasonably see Fayetteville as irrelevant
Your color palette feels colorblind
This is a super liberal map. So probably due to there policies.
What do you have against the DC area/maryland
Liberal politics and snow in the winters? (Of course depending where in California.) Rhode Island kinda ruins that though, and MD/DE to a lesser extent
Well, "not super right wing" is one of the criteria.
Lol!! All blue governors which is why I thought it was
Temperate climate has to be one of them.
Climate resilience is one of them.
You have way too many coastal places on here the .
The EPA did a report about 5 years ago that indicated the most climate resilient states, and I listed almost all of them, with the exception of Alaska.
Interesting, I would assume the coastal cities being ravaged would be ruinous.
Yeah, I think infrastructure and overall temperature were two big factors.
Why not Alaska southern Alaska has the same climate as western WA albeit with practically no people or jobs oh I answered my own question.
I agree with this assessment. I hate Texas. Too hot, too many dioshits with trucks. Biggest redeeming quality is the Latin food
All them different lived in states makes you look like you're running from the law
Sex, drugs, and rock and roll
Liberal politics, climate change proof-ish, and natural beauty.
Why not kentucky :(
I love Kentucky - Louisville rocks! - but climate resiliency, whoever takes the Governor's mansion next, and my third criteria (which hasn't been guessed yet) are roadblocks.
I don’t entirely understand the climate resiliency what makes some states more resilient than others?
What’s wrong with the great state of North Carolina
Glad it’s off the list. We’re getting to crowded.
States with high cost of living?
Alaska and New Hampshire have very high costs of living.
Genuinely curious about the abortion thing, could a person theoretically live in a state with lower cost of living (doesn’t have abortion rights) bordering a state that has abortion rights and just drive over to the other state for an abortion or does it not work like that?
High quality of life too
Why would you make ‘never live’ green and ‘live again’ red
Legal weed
SLC is pretty liberal but not many people know that
Curious why yes to Vermont and Maine but no to NH??
pot
Good school systems?
Medical right, marijuana rights, and not hot
Have or be close to a major city is one.
Yeah, 1. Liberal 2. HCOL 3. Good food 😂
Lol
You like liberal politics, big city life, and being close to water?
Cold. Hilly to mountainous. Moderate to left. Colorblind.
You love paying high taxes for low quality services?
Maine is awesome.
Ohio is fine.
What’s wrong with New Hampshire?
Ski mountains?
Cold?
Rhode Island I totally understand
Probably some liberal/progressive politics, cooler weather, access to outdoors?
Id much rather live in Ohio over Michigan
Damn. Your options are awfully slim
🤝
Uh, you’re a Liberal…
Clearly lib
Seems political
High taxes, less personal freedoms, and shitty people? 😂
Oh hey, thanks
It’s okay, I suck too.
Fair enough
I’m from MN, have lived in WA and OR. You’re right.
Well, this is about the most Reddit palatable choice possible.
Beer is one
Common sense? No offense but a lot of people in the states in green are nutcases
The OP is a nutcase
As a Vermonter, this makes me happy.
Marijuana, Snow, Abortion
wtf did New Hampshire and Rhode Island do to you?
Why no for New Mexico?
My guess would be liberal politicians
Why NC ?
Maybe cost of living and heat it would seem
Liberal mountains & coast
Ya mama a ho
If you stay in East Tennessee, it seems you would be fine
1) coastal 2) liberal politics 3) bigass cities
MAGA, Republican and Christian
You would like Connecticut and Mass but not New Hampshire?? GTFO 🤮🤮🤮🤮
Gun control, weed legality, and abortion rights?
Expensive as fuck? Is that the criteria?
You need an NHL team but don't want to live in FL or Texas
I think OP is tired of being cucked by the Canes.
Cool temperatures, liberal or at least purple politics, and near a large body of water/beach?
Any reason you wouldn’t live in NC again? My parents are considering moving there.
You like places that are too expensive to afford to live? Oh wait, that’s all of the US now 😢
I don't know why I always think Massachusetts is bigger than it is.
What’s up with NH?
I like you you make good decisions
Impossible without knowing the region/city of the states.
What do you have against New Hampshire
Quick correction - I'd live in Illinois.
Only thing you think about is politics. The reverse of the person who would only live in Texas and Florida.
I have three criteria, so no, quite literally politics aren't the only thing I think about :)
The color scheme absolutely sucks no offense
Is there a reason political posts like this aren’t banned?
People must be self righteous and insufferable Must pay greater than 10% state income tax Must have a good food

I think the self-righteous and insufferable is in every state, no? Also, only 4 states have higher than 10% income tax.
Reddit has to tell you it's okay to live there?
What are you talking about?
I can tell from this map that OP and I would disagree on several hot button issues.
Pathetic 😂
1 terrible politics 2 terrible politicians 3 a kink for being oppressed
Unconstitutional gun control
