You really can’t taste the cinnamon. Cincy chili has this whole unique flavor that blends together into something new. I wouldn’t really describe it as “cinnamon-y”
You’re missing out on a lot of delicious Mediterranean, Middle Eastern, and Indian cuisine if you don’t think cinnamon goes well with ground beef dishes.
I’ve never heard of chili defined as a marinara or bolognese sauce. It’s tomato-based, yes, but there are lots of dishes with beef, tomato, and cinnamon—its common in Greek cuisine, for example, which happens to be how Cincinnati chili originated (from Greek immigrants), but it’s also common in Levantine cuisine, Turkish cuisine, Iranian cuisine, Indian cuisine, etc.
Haven’t you tried any dishes outside of American, Italian, or French cuisine?
I feel like going to New York without visiting NYC, just seeing Niagara Falls is a very Cincinnatian type thing to do lol
Source - I’m from Dayton, also have never been to NYC
If you look closely I’ve been to nyc. Only to Manhattan and queens and then between Manhattan and Newark. :P
I went to Niagara Falls on my way home from a trip to Toronto
Agreed! I’ve lived here since I was a baby (I’m 20 now) and the city sure has come a long way since I was little. Being a mid sized Midwestern city it’s not like it’s Chicago or New York but there’s a good amt of stuff here compared to like Louisville or Indianapolis so gotta be glad for that.
It was really nice! I visited in March a couple years ago for a weekend trip to tour the university in Bangor. Visited Arcadia, Bangor, Portland, then went down to Boston for a day. Even in winter it was a nice time, I really miss the food there tbh. Good seafood is hard to come by when you live hundreds of miles from the ocean
Cincinnati?
Yep! You got it!
Why come chili in spaghetti?
Cause yum
Chili with spaghetti is fine. But cinnamon in chili is definitely weird.

I didn’t say that. My point is that cinnamon is a strange spice to add to a marinara or bolognese sauce. But if you like it, you do you.

Nice! Always cool to see other Cincy area people in the wild. How’d you like it here?
It was cool, it def was growing and reviving when I lived there. Good brewery scene and lots of nice parks around there.

Louisburg? Is that how you spell it?
Spelled correctly but the city is Louisville
Now say it out loud (there’s no right answer you’ll upset somebody no matter how you say it)
lou-uh-ville
Yippee!!!
When I lived in NC, people said it "lou-vull."
I mean here in Ky most people say it like that including me so
Did you enjoy muncie at all? If you even remember it lol
Ah I haven’t been, that county is one county north of where I’ve been (went through henry county on the way from Indy to Columbus)
Goddam my state and their damn square counties. I’ve dishonored my family by confusing Delaware County and Henry
