She is a very good girl, but honestly, she is way way too fat. It's really bad for a cat's health to be that fat, it will also affect her mobility. But she is at risk for fatty liver disease, diabetes, arthritis, and many other ailments. Please work with your vet to reduce her weight. It's VERY hard and will involve a lot of deeply affronted meowing, you can help by playing with her so she gets plenty of exercise, but you really do need to do that.

A friend of mine once said Tye looked like a rugby ball with a pipe cleaner glued to one end, and when the same friend fell asleep with Tye in her lap, her legs fell asleep and she couldn't get up.
Performatrin Ultra, it's a grain free food. It doesn't have to be that of course -- Tye maintained her weight loss while eating canned food, freeze dried raw, and homemade cat food. It was just a matter of controlling her portions so she couldn't pig out!

For me, I was never over feeding my two, but my dog is not a big eater so they would end up eating part of his food too, which is pretty calorific for a cat.
I started standing nearby while he ate to chase the bolder cat off and also started making sure I put his bowl away immediately when he decided he was finished so they couldn’t get his leftovers. They are now back to a normal weight and looking very svelte!
Avoid dry food, it is usually too high in carbs, cats are obligate carnivores and do not need that. Don't overfeed. Get treats that are 100% air dried or freeze dried meat and us them to play "fetch". Obviously your cat will eat them, not fetch them back, but it's the running that's important! Throw them into high up or inaccessible places (safely, obviously) to get your cat running, hunting, climbing and jumping. And play with your cat. Feather lure toys are brilliant, avoid things like laser pointers which cats may find frustrating as there is nothing to catch.
It's a slow process but well worth it.

My cat lost too much weight when the cat food company changed the formula on her wet food to reduce the calories, and I hadn't noticed. The vet gave me the following information: How many calories your cat needs depends on whether it is an indoor or outdoor cat - 20 calories per pound for indoor, 35 for outdoor. This is probably simplified, but my vet recommended I feed my indoor cat 200 calories per day.
Now, as to how to stop the begging... get a Cat Mate two compartment auto feeder with freezer pack insert, and get a backup freezer pack for it. This way, you can swap the pack out every day. As soon as you get home in the evening, give your cat 1/3rd of their food. Split the other 2/3rds into the auto feeder, and set the timers for 8 hours and 16 hours out. Put it in the same area your cat normally eats. After a couple of days, your cat will get used to the idea that most of their meals come from the box, not from you. And unless you work from home, you won't be available to beg for that last meal of the day.

They set up the cat’s microchip to program it to these feeders! So, if Bandit tries to get into Winston’s bowl.. he can’t. He can only get into his. I’m willing to try anything at this point. But the collar feeders are EXPENSIVE. I would have to buy them spaced out. Everyone that encounters him… immediately they say “oh how cute is this fatty??” Yes, I know my cat is a tank, but it hurts my feelings too!

Set realistic goals. He's probably never going to be a 10 lb cat. He's probably got extra muscle and skin to support his weight, so even if he doesn't lose all the excess weight, he'll have an easier time moving through the world. Double check with his vet what a healthy calorie intake should be, in case he has a larger frame than normal. It would suck if you accidentally over corrected and fed him too little

And having a diabetic cat is not fun. I had a Maine coon and he wasn’t fat but got the beetus in his old age. Insulin was expensive and it was a very hard few couple years before renal failure took him :-(

Care for your cat as much as possible, but don’t send yourself to the hospital with sepsis for a cat bite or scratch.)

She’s morbidly obese. You are significantly shortening her lifespan and worsening her quality of life by allowing her to be like this. The strain on her joints will be causing her pain. A lot of the cats I see in shelters--that have been given up--are obese. They struggle to get adoption attention. It's not cute or funny. Often it's due to poor diet and no exercise. If cats are indoor-only, you MUST make a concerted effort every day to engage in active playtime.
Diet-wise, cut out the dry food altogether. Feed her twice per day, 1/2 a pouch of high-quality wet food. Healthier treats a couple of times per day is OK. Be sure she is drinking enough water.
My last cat looked like a tortie cushion. When we got her, she couldn't roll over. We changed her diet and got her moving. We spent a lot of time spraying rolled up bits of paper with catnip and then throwing them for her. Catnip toys didn't work. Had to be paper.
She's about the size of her namesake. Can't speak much myself, we adopted a girl who after her spaying gained a bunch of weight. Her names Jupiter, and I fat shame her all the time.

I moved her to my local feed store’s maintenance cat brand. Not a pet store, but a feed store. She not only lost weight, but gained as much muscle as she lost in weight lol!!!
She is a killer of all things just about her size in the woods lol! She loves it! The other day she climbed a tree and I could hear her motor running as she surveyed her kingdom!

Luna is a beautiful cat. No such thing as an ugly cat. But she sure is a big girl 🖤 so yeah she should lose a bit of weight for her joints.
