My wife and I tried to do this a few years ago with Dawson's Creek (I didn't watch it when it was all the rage). I think we made it through 1 maybe 2 seasons and we just couldn't anymore.

GREEK- came out in 2007 and I really enjoyed it.. Bought the DVDs and even got my husband to watch it with me last year. Such a fun show with a good mix of comedy and college drama plus there's 4 seasons so that's always nice
I’d suggest The Greatest American Hero, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Dead like Me, The Wizards of Waverly Place, Victorious, Batman 1966, The Bullwinkle Show, Get Smart, The Monkees, and Wonder Woman.
These weren’t all when you were likely 17, but 17 year old you is likely to enjoy them.

I just watched west wing and it's wonderful. Sorry I missed it when every one else was watching it.
It might just be the best show of all time but it does get dated unfortunately
