I think I get that a little, but more towards the endings of shows or games. I don't want them to end because it's rarely as satisfying as I'd prefer. I'd rather write my own endings, forever.
You might enjoy a show called 7 Days that had a few seasons. It's about a government agency that uses tech from the Roswell space crash to go back in time 7 days whenever a disaster happens. Good humor, decent action and the disaster of the week is usually good times.
Not really. If I think a concept is really cool in that way I want to watch/read it. My imagination and the actual version are not mutually exclusive, and sometimes they have better ideas than I do.
The only reason I can think to do this is if I thought the show/movie etc will just be bad and not worth my time. In which case I wouldn't be avoiding it because of the concept, it would be more like "It's a shame this cool concept is wasted on a bad show"

Justified was one of the rare shows that ended absolutely perfectly, and I have no desire to watch the recent sequel show.
