December 19, 2022 [Mother facing charges after allegedly cyberbullying her own daughter](https://abcnews.go.com/GMA/News/mother-facing-charges-after-allegedly-cyberbullying-daughter/story?id=95519770)

Ojos_Claros

Dude. That's messed up

Murky_Translator2295

She got a prison sentence thankfully

usernametaken0987

Barely. She was arrested, released on a reduced to $500 bond with orders not to contact the daughter she bullied, and then she violated that bond. Charged with 20 years of felony crimes, did a lot more than that, and only got five. She will be up for parole after 19 months, or this June, and probably released.

WorthlessInPain

I'm betting it won't be long before she tries to contact her daughter and will go back in for the rest of the 5

usernametaken0987

She'll probably reach out and claim she is making amends, bully her for a bit until someone else intervenes. And then get a whole six months before being released *again*. The court system is extremely merciful to women.

WorthlessInPain

It shouldn't be, women can be just as dangerous as men, especially narcissistic women. There shouldn't be leniency to women who have been torturing anyone, especially their own children!!!! Torture is torture, physical or emotional doesn't matter, they should stay in jail until their victims don't have trust issues anymore!!!

OneCryptographer7115

I'm not familiar with the American legal system (or any really), what does "released on an X amount bond" mean

usernametaken0987

Bonds are a financial promise to return for court. The system is really complicated, so to skip over a lot of important points. You are not legally guilty of a crime until the court system has found you so. But people can try to refuse to show up for their court appearances or remain a danger to society. And you cannot really motivate them with more penalties, after all they are trying to dodge one now. So the dangerous ones just get left in jail. Most others have a bond amount attached to the warrant. By paying the bond you are released from jail, allowing you to go to work or hang out with friends. If you return to your court appearance the money is returned to you, otherwise the court keeps it. In this particular case, the bond amount was supposed to be around $5,000. Judges get a lot of leyway with everything and the judge decided to lower it to $500. Her bond came with the normal orders not to try and contact with her alleged victem, and of course she did anyway.

forgetregret1day

I’ve seen everything now. What the hell is wrong with people? You have to be pretty messed up and have absolutely nothing else to do to spend all that time and energy cyber bullying your own kid. I fear for humanity, seriously.

Yaguajay

I’m sorry Mom :-(

tillie_jayne

Did she ever give a half arsed reason why? Was she jealous of the kids? Her own daughter?

LibertyInaFeatherBed

Peobably a narcissist who peaked in psychological growth that that age.

DeanaG60

You'd be surprised how many mothers are envious of their own daughters. Or, maybe not.

EngrishTeach

The call is coming from inside the house.

I accept the verdict.

OkGanache8317

I thought of that exact same thing when I read this.

OhHeyFreeSoup

The real horror really is always in the comments...

IAmBabs

I thought this was referencing a much older incident. Imagine feeling the need to do this. Jesus.

Datboi_23

Right, I remember this. Hope that bitch is in prison.

Geekygreeneyes

People who do this to kids need the worst punishment. Fuck bullies and take my upvote.

Anon_457

This is so creepy considering it has happened and could still happen in real life..

DeanaG60

Yeah, and the psychological damage caused by that behavior lasts a lifetime.

ripmyinbox42069

What do you have to gain from that?

hipsterTrashSlut

It's typically narcissism, from my experience.

ACupOfUltraviolet

Getting the daughter to stay in his room for extended periods of time

glitternrrse

Could be a stepfather…

Names_Are_Overrated-

It could be anything if you tried hard enough

orangeleast

I tried so many times to tell her that she can't wear a dog tail to school, this was my last resort.

Calure1212

The weekend manager was wearing a tiger tail for a while this morning. I volunteer in a charity shop and I cracked up laughing in the middle of a transaction after the manager turned and walked away and I caught sight of her tail. The customer had a look and had a bit of a giggle too. It's only a few weeks since she was wearing the straw hat that had ears on it. She looked incredibly cute in that too!

ConnectQuestion5805

Ooof

GeniusMike

I’ve seen this one before almost verbatim.

CommissionerAnon

"I never expected that my husband would go as far as to track down the person leaving the comments or that as he stood over me with a metal bat in hand, he would decide such a betrayal warranted a much worse punishment than just ending our marriage."

InTheEndEntropyWins

Decent idea but implementation was too forward. Maybe something like, # My stepdaughter cried for the entire evening in my room, and told me how a girl called Ann was bullying her online. That stupid bitch, can't even pronounce my user profile name, Anne right.

Equivalent-Unit

Strongly disagree. I think OP's version is actually more subtle, and it leaves more room for speculation as to what the stepparent is trying to accomplish. I'm actually not certain I would recognize yours as based on this one if you hadn't posted it in the comments. (Not saying your version is *bad*, just reads very different.)

FilthyDaemon

But…Ann and Anne are pronounced the same? Unless there’s a cross with the tragedeigh thread…

Sponge_Over

Maybe the poster is German. Here "Anne" is pronounced "An-nuh"

FilthyDaemon

Possibly. Regardless, the premise is horrifying. I like it, OP-as a horror story, I mean. Not the idea of bullying your own kid or step kid. (I shouldn’t need to clarify, but it’s Reddit…lol)

ELENA4002

Ann just sounds like Ann. Anne has four hundred syllables. Common English mistake.

lad1dad1

that's awkward

Ciqbern

Cruel

Datboi_23

Not horror, more "two sentence dickwaddery", but this is a pretty good one.

rachmarq

Disgusting. Take the upvote.

Beneficial-Peanut-46

Okay thats dark bro

OmegaPsiot5447

It's a step daughter... you should just stick her in a dryer

OkGanache8317

How is this really horror though? It’s just a really sad thing. Not horror.

Half_Line

Horror on this subreddit just seems to mean something bad.

pkcommando

NTA - someone needs to toughen her up and her biological parents clearly aren't doing a good enough job.

Realmirror71

It's a bit on the nose. Could have been After she left the room, I hopped back on social media, after all, there were far too few comments.

VelveteenJackalope

That's worse written though? It's a super clunky second sentence
