wtf is a London fog?

meldariun

Its a drink in Canada tdat is basically an earl grey tea latte with copious amounts of foam. To be fair they are pretty good, but theyre more like a chai latte but extra OTTea than a regular tea

youessbee

Yeah, that sounds really fuckin British...

meldariun

Canadians often think the uk has loads of fancy teas when theres actually more selections in most Canadian supermarkets. They dont realise most drink bog standard breakfast teas here

quietlycommenting

But why is a Canadian drink on their British to do list? Thank you for the explanation though

Laylelo

London fog is really not a common drink in the UK. I’m sure there’s somewhere you can get it, but if you think it’s a speciality of London you’re barking up the wrong tree.

benanderson89

London Fog isn't a British drink, it's Canadian. The name is entirely meaningless according to the original creator of it. You'll be hard pressed to find it in any part of the UK. Croissants you can find anywhere.

pixie_sprout

Far be it from a Brit to complain about this sort of thing, but if the 2 main reasons you're visiting London are French and Italian/American/Canadian then maybe you should go elsewhere.

tgcp

I'm not sure a London Fog is particularly well known in the UK, certainly nothing I've seen on menus before!

Electrical_Ice_6061

go to paris instead. Neither of those things are even british lol

Volf_y

Fortnum and Mason for Earl Grey Tea, and they probably do a decent croissant. But no one will have the foggiest what you're talking about when it comes to the 'London fog' thingy.

Jimlaheydrunktank

They do great croissant’s in parle pantry in Chiswick. Fuck knows what a London fog is

SpaceGloomy1595

Same as the rest, I'd never heard of a London fog latte, but it just sounds like an Americanised earl grey? If you want a proper earl grey tea, you can find those at most places and tea shops, but it definitely won't have syrup/cream whatever other things Starbucks over there might add. You could try a high tea to get that hot drink + snack experience you want, while being more of an 'authentic' British thing?

SpaceGloomy1595

Looking into it though, it seems to be on the tea menu here: [https://www.thewrencoffee.com/](https://www.thewrencoffee.com/) And they do croissants too!

bananacreamcloud

that looks beautiful! thank you for the rec!

StandardBanger

Go to EL&N on Brompton or Aubaine on Brompton Cross & just have a pot of tea & people watch. I’m sure the chaps at Aubaine would make you a pot of frothed milk to perch on your Earl Grey as they’re fab, they’re always happy to rustle up an affogato for me. & yes, they do croissants but only in the morning.

SilentKangaroo9424

London fog what u on about m8 ?

achillea4

Never heard of it.

LondonLeather

My favourite place for a coffee is Maison Bertaux in Greek St but I have almond croissant and a cafe au lait

Westsidepipeway

What is a London fog drink? I'm born londoner and have lived majority of my life here except University plus a few years working elsewhere. All I can think of with London fog is Madmen.

PruneSolid2816

London fog is the weed clouds in Camden

Master_Bumblebee680

Never heard of a London Fog but crossiants are pretty much in every café and supermarket though not in pubs or restaurants

musicistabarista

I really enjoy the croissants at caravan. Surprisingly complex butter taste, great texture, not dry at all. I'm sure there's plenty of other bakeries that do better croissants, but I'm not sure there are many places you could get a better on croissant and a better coffee. The other place is Origin, specifically the Southwark one. Maybe the best coffee drinks in London (imo), the pastries look really good too.

Koenigss15

Get a chai latte instead

thisisAgador

They do London Fogs at Close Up Cinema (it's a cafe/bar space as well) off Brick Lane, and I think they usually have pastries in the morning too. I'm sure other places do also sell London Fogs in the same way that they sell margaritas and cappuccinos which are also not British, but that's the one I know.
